Now with Orton as World Heavyweight Champion, what's next? what a short title reign for Captain Charisma.
Sat May 07, 2011 11:36 am
Probably another lengthy reign for Orton, though the way they made a point of giving Christian the time to essentially cut a silent promo with his post match disappointment might point to a bigger angle between him and Orton. That might just be wishful thinking, though.
Sat May 07, 2011 1:41 pm
They might put Orton and Christian on a feud.Christian might turn heel since there are talks of him turning in Wrestlemania.
Sat May 07, 2011 4:06 pm
Possibly, though I'd pick Orton to be the one to turn heel. That'd be something a little different, having a champion turn without losing the belt (at first, anyway). Randy Savage in the late 80s is the only other prominent example that comes immediately to mind.

Have Orton as heel and build Christian up (though really, not necessary).

Gotta give it to him, that RKO was sick.
Still,

Not happening; Orton is SmackDown's Cena at the moment. Does SD even have any decent faces below Orton on its roster?

he's the only main eventer in vince's eyes on the show, although they could possibly move shaemus & daniel bryan or christian into the mix.

I got to love how loud the ovation was on SmackDown when Christian came out at the start of the show. If that is not a draw to Vince... then

Well, there is Christian.

Well, there is Christian.
I get the feeling that Vince would disagree.
Mon May 09, 2011 11:42 am
Probably but I figured you were asking for my opinion, not Vince's.
Mon May 09, 2011 1:24 pm
Not really, just pointing out that given their current stance on the roster, there's nobody to replace Orton as a top face.
And really, Christian for me is much like Del Rio earlier in the year, or Miz a year or so ago. Talent-wise he deserves it, but I'm just not sure I take him seriously enough at this point. He needs more of a build. That said, I haven't watched any WWE, with the exception of Edge's segments on Raw and SmackDown the week he retired, since WrestleMania, so it may come across better on TV.
Oddly, I feel much the same way about the Bulls this season. No idea why.

i think the superman characters are a result of the wwe riding the big names for so long. HHH, Taker, HBK, edge were the last of these guys and with them fading in the last 4 or 5 years, there is a gaping hole there because vince failed to build up new guys to that status. so he kept sticking to the "tried and true" method where they say "okay Cena works well let's keep putting the belt on him." they just stopped building up the younger guys with solid matches because wwe relied on the big names for so long. Honestly anyone from the attitude era (with all their experience) should be a main eventer by now. Christian (and i guess Big Show, Kane, & R Truth as well) have been wrestling too long to not be a main stay at the top of the company.
Mon May 09, 2011 1:50 pm
That probably has a lot to do with it. I think the continued lack of real competition is a significant factor as well, since it allows the WWE to get away with being complacent or downright dumb at times.

if you guys haven't, check out The Backyard, its a 2002 documentary by Paul Heyman and it's pretty fuckin good. It's on Netflix streaming if you got that.

morrison has a legitimate neck injury and will be out of a while. good riddance, i was getting tired of his character anyways. now that he's gone, hopefully they put truth in a feud with cena for the title
Tue May 10, 2011 7:38 pm
He's a great talent though, so hopefully his neck will be fine and they can use the time off to repackage/freshen up his character.
I haven't been watching Tough Enough religiously, but I have been keeping tabs on it and a couple of things have really bugged me lately, specifically Trish and Stone Cold talking about working hurt. Obviously it's part of the business to a certain extent but reading Bret Hart's book where he describes the cocktails of painkillers that a lot of his contemporaries used to down so they work injured (not to mention the story of WCCW) and it's clear that it played a big part in the premature deaths of a lot of wrestlers. Endorsing the approach of working hurt really seems to clash with the Wellness Policy and is a bit disappointing to see.

No idea what you're referring to, but it really does depend how hurt you are, and a large part of the whole 'work hurt' thing would be having the mindset to work through pain, and as such precludes painkillers anyway.

I thought Alex Riley was drafted to Smackdown?
Wed May 11, 2011 8:15 am
Some people in WWE and Paul Heyman think that Kharma is the next Brock Lesnar. She really looks intimidating and her destroying Divas will be something different since Chyna's WWF days.

He was, but the way they handle the brand extension these days it doesn't really matter and we're not supposed to think about that. With more of the top talent approaching retirement, too many titles and so much crossover between the two brands, ending the brand extension is probably more feasible than it has been in years.

yeah it was sad because ivie knew her quad was getting torn more every time she stepped into the ring.
His count was a bit off, but i liked how he shouts the number as he counts it
Wed May 11, 2011 1:33 pm
Exactly. And while HHH finished a match with a torn quad and Stone Cold finished his match with Owen Hart despite a broken neck, they sure didn't continue to wrestle, they were out for some time.
