Presentation/Commentary (My Player/Association Mode)
-Replace Clark Kellogg with Reggie Miller or Steve Kerr.
-If you want it to be more like TNT, add better theme music and add more cut-scenes showing players shooting around, talking to their teammates/coach & reading the game-plan.
-Add like a probability meter in which it decides who is the favored to win the game and the commentators talk about who they think will win or lose.
-Also add the team's leaders for PPG, APG, RPG, SPG & TPG for each team who are playing against each other.
-Before the tip-off starts have the commentators talk about which teams need to contain a player on the opposite team and who needs to step up to be a big factor in the win (like NBA 2K10 showed).
-When someone gets crossed over, have the commentators yell like "OOOOHHHH he just got his ankles broken! Someone call an ambulance!" or something like that. Also have the crowd get into it by yelling "OOOOOHHHH!" like how they do in a real game.
-Have the commentators mention like Ray Allen's record breaker, or Brandon Roy's injury, or a trade that happened last season and that was a bad or good trade or something like that. That would be cool.
-Have them talk about free throw percentages when the players at the free throw line. Have them say that Rondo, for a PG, doesn't have a good free throw percentage, while Steve Nash does.
-When a player like Kobe, Lebron, Aldridge, Wade, or a high overall (my) player heats up on offense, have the commentators say that it is not good news for the defense if that player is heated up and going to dominate the game.
-Have the crowd be more of a factor. It it's an amazing pass like how Rondo makes, have the crowd stand up and cheer like there is no tomorrow. During the playoffs, have them be more into the game, if it's a blowout or not. If the team makes the playoff's but loses, have the crowd still cheer on their team for making it that far and basically congratulating them for an exciting season and hope to see more of that next season.
-During a season game, if the home team is getting blown out, have the crowd just get up and leave. Also, I'm not hearing the "We Want Taco's" chant. Add that in there please. Also when Ray Allen makes a 3, you hear the guy yell "RAY ALLEN FOR THREEEEEEEE!" I don't hear that either. Can you please add that.
-More excitement when a player makes a game-winning buzzer beater. I'm tired of hearing "OHHH HE BEAT THE BUZZARD" every time. Can you make more emotion into it??
-Only if you can, at the end of the week show the Top 5 plays of any game. If it's a my player game, if it's worth showing, show My Player making a very good shot and during this, have like the number at the corner and some person say like "here's dwyane wade showing his hops" or "here's [my player] with the stepback, but drives in for the ferocious slam" or something like that. That would make your game very good IMO.


Gameplay (My Player/ Association Mode)
-The pace of the game should be faster. It seems really slow than a real basketball game.
-Also, the player models look way too big for the courts. How bout either make the players a bit smaller or make the courts a bit bigger.
-Players who are 7'0 and slow should not be able to keep up with like Rondo, Wall, or Rose speed. That needs to be fixed.
-A 6'10-7'0 player who switched on defense and are guarding a PG should be able to be crossed over much easier.
-Players like Rondo or Rose create their own shots in the paint and make like crazy shots like Rose's up-and-under or Rondo's high floater over Andrew Bynum. In 2K11, it was impossible to even get in the paint. My player crossed Fisher and I couldn't get in the paint because he magically got in front of me again. WTF! Getting in the paint needs to be easier than last year.
-At half-time, show top plays from the teams THEN the individual players. Also show the scores from other games being played the same day. Games already played-Final Score;top performers from each team, Games being played at the same time-Score;Quarter; top performers from each team, Games being played later-Record;players with most PPG, APG, or RPG;W/L last 10 games.
-The PG should be able to call a double-screen or even a triple-screen for spot-up shooters like Ray Allen or James Jones
-Clear fouls should be called. I hate how when I go up for a shot I get fouled, but the referees don't call it. When the opposite team shoots the same exact shot and there is contact, I get the foul call. WTF! The fouling system needs to be fixed.
-Add flagrant and technical foul systems which results in ejections and shows the referee pointing his arm in the locker room direction telling the player to get out and the player either smiling, getting mad, or just walking away like he just doesn't care. Also, have the coaches get a technical foul if they argue to much.
-We should be able to make fake passes while still running and dribbling. Like Rondo's behind the back fake or the behind the back with one hand.
-Whenever I'm dribbling and crossing someone over, they know where I'm going to go before it happens. I cross over, but like a second before, they move the same direction. That needs to be fixed.
-Also, how on earth do the defenders know where I'm going to pass before the pass happens. That also needs to be fixed.
-I'm on the wing, and my defender has his back turned to me. I move down to the corner and they follow me without even looking. Do they have eyes behind their heads or something? That definitely needs to be fixed.
-Add more replays and have the commentators that the defense cannot allow those types of shots to a great player like Kobe or Lebron or a high-overall (my) player.
-2K11 shooting was good before the patch and then it was screwed up. Make shooting like it was pre-patch in 2K11.
-The mid-air collisions in 2K11 are clear fouls. That needs to be fixed for 2K12.
-Make crossovers better and faster, depending on ball handling skills.
-Have players from each team get in each other's faces once in a while and their teammates pull them back and/or escalades into a fight.
-Some big men cannot shoot mid-range (Dwight Howard, Shaq, Noah) and they shoot it anyway and make it. That needs to be fixed.
-Add the slam dunk contest, 3-point contest & skills challenge (PG only) in a gym.
-When it is a no foul or bad foul call, have the players get in the face of the referee and depending on the referee's mood, have them T up the player and the player gets more mad and starts waving his arms at him and add the referee's ejection motion.
-I hate how the opponent AI makes impossible fade-away shots and makes it 95% of the time (like Dwight Howard, Shaq, Varejao, Yao, etc) and my own teammates cannot even make a normal lay-up or WIDE-OPEN jump shot.
-When a player makes a shot-and-1, have the players like yell into the crowd hitting their chest (especially during a close regular season or playoff game). Also, when they get fouled, only one teammate goes and congratulates them. Last I saw, most of the teammates on the court is supposed to congratulate them.
-During the game, show the Points leaders, assists leaders, and rebounds leaders during gameplay like how TNT does.
-When a foul happens in 2K11, the referees hand motion shows a holding, when it wasn't a holding. Also, when it's a foul on the floor, have the referees call off the continuation foul and say it was on the floor and put their hands up to the scorers table to show who the foul was on. Have the PA announcer say who the foul was on. In a real NBA game, we could still be able to hear the PA announcer for when someone makes a three pointer or foul.
-Players pull-up jumpers should each be different. Like some players pull ups have have one of their legs in front of the other and their form is a bit different.
-When a player makes a buzzer-beating shot, have their teammates on the bench and court go to that player and like surround him and maybe even dog-pile him and that happens for like 2 minutes at the max. That would be so cool.



My Player Only
-During the draft, if my player gets triple-doubles throughout the 3 games, his pick should be higher than better than 10. It should be at least 2 or 3 or even 1. (I did it on All-Star difficulty)
-I'm tired of being a 6'1 PG and being put at SG and SF (I don't understand that one). How about, you give a choice of a position. 5'5-6'4 (PG) 6'4-6'5(PG-SG) 6'5-6'7 (SG) 6'6-6'8 (SG-SF) 6'9-6'11 (SF-PF) 6'10-7'0 (C)
-More varieties of player creation more adjustments or choices to accessories. Have the ability to move the headband and put the logo symbol in the middle, or put it backwards. Also, we should be able to put on balance bracelet and goggles.
-Add in-game first name vocals to the commentators. I'm tired of hearing the last name only. Try to add the first name so we can hear the full name.
-Give more realistic objectives to my player.
-Make it a bit easier to get skill points. It takes forever to get them. Make them a bit easier please.
-Again, more accessories like mouth guards and have the player take it out once in a while during like a foul and have them completely take it out when they are talking to the referee or something.
-More choices to the player creation. There were only a limited amount of faces, how bout a little more please.
-My player in 2K10 was in the league leaders of each section (APG, RPG, PPG, SPG, etc). In 2K11, I wasn't even mentioned. How bout we be mentioned and showed in 2K12.
-When I shoot a 3-pointer, the commentators say that was a bad shot. Then when I shoot it again, they say that they shouldn't leave me open like that.
-I hate how when we play a game, you people at 2K make us lose by having terrible teammate AI and like horrible centers shooting and making 3's or something like that. How about you make the game fair so there is a 50/50 chance of losing or winning instead of like a 10/90 chance.
-Take out "Hold Ball Too Long." That is the most stupid penalty ever. If I'm a PG or the leading scorer on the team (or league), I shouldn't get penalized for it. Also, if I'm trying to establish myself in the low post, I also shouldn't be penalized for it. So take it out.
-During a time-out, have the game fade-out like it's going to commercial.
-During a game, Kobe guards the PG's like Rondo, Westbrook & Wall. How bout, since we're younger, we get to guard the PG's (only if we're SG's) and the older PG's guard the older SG's. Unless they are really good like Kobe, Wade, Joe Johnson, etc.
-When my player won the NBA championship, there was no celebration except for the White House visit. My player also won the NBA MVP. How bout you add the celebration and have the PA announce who is the NBA MVP and have that player raise up both trophies, like how kobe did in the 2010 NBA Finals.

Online Play
I don't need to say much about this. This DEFINITELY needs to be fixed and not screwed up like 2K11.

OK, so instead of venting my frustrations from My Player mode in the "letting off steam thread", I'm going to post a wishlist for the mode, and hopefully that'll make it less of a curse-fest in the future if 2K takes it into consideration.

My Player Wishlist-

• My teammates are so dim-witted. I call a play for myself which requires for me to pass it to Brandon Roy, and when I do, the asshole calls an isolation play for himself, and ends up either bricking the shot, or getting it blocked. Definitely needs a fix.
• To add to the first sentence of the above point, stop having the user's teammates take difficult and ill-advised shots; this is probably the biggest gripe and concern everyone has with this mode.
• I swear to god the CPU from the opposing team has every advantage possible over my teammates. Playing against the Lakers, Gasol and Bynum block their shots left and right. Really, just because they're "seven-footers", does not mean they can block every single shot! Also, my teammates always, always brick WIDE open threes, and the CPU makes heavily-contested, fadeaway deep threes. If there is only one thing you can fix for next year, it should definitely be this. Equality between my teammates and the CPU.
• Every time I step into the paint, the game always turns my layup into something the CPU can block. I one time remember driving in on the Pistons, and Jason Maxiell tried to take a charge on me. I went around him, and in about a tenth of a second, he put his hand up and blocked my layup. Seriously?


• To add to the above point, the mode itself is just so glitchy. When I want to do something, like finish my layup on the right side, my player does something else. The controls are just so unresponsive in My Player mode; when I go for a steal, my player swipes at the ball, LATE, and then does all this unnecessary bullshit movement if I miss it, when I just wanted to do a quick swipe. Same thing with blocks, and it's just another way the opposing player can burn you for an easy basket.
• Also, if you get the feeling of a player with 90 speed in association mode, and upgrade your speed rating to 90 in my player mode, the player from association mode's movement feels much smoother, and the player from MP mode is slower. That is what I'm talking about when I say "glitchy".


• Please, please, if I have 90+ in speed, Pau Gasol should not be able to catch up to me on a fastbreak. Also, players with bad on-ball defense always get me in an animation that makes me pick up my dribble. I should be able to get past the likes of Pau Gasol and Kwame Brown and other big men because of my 90+ speed, ~80 in ball handle and ball security, and because they don't have lateral quickness.
• In late game situations, my teammates are as dim-witted as a regular possession if not more. I ran a pick and roll with LaMarcus Aldridge yesterday, and the Lakers trapped me, leaving Aldridge a clear path to the basket. The asshole just stands around at the elbow, and does not even roll to the basket. Please, fix that for 2K12, because I literally felt like throwing the controller out the window when Aldridge settled for a jumper when he could've literally had himself a dunk and we could've gone up by one.
• The game penalizes us for the wrong reasons. I get a hand up on a shooter, ON TIME, he still knocks down the jumpshot, and it says "Allow man to score". Also, if I'm far away from my matchup, either because we switched the pick and roll or the other team just generated a mismatch, if my real matchup scores, I get penalized for it. There are also times when my teammates throw a bad outlet pass that I have to catch but I sail out of bounds, or the CPU takes it because I couldn't catch, and I am the one who gets penalized for turning it over. I don't care if I really was the one who turned it over, it wasn't my fault it happened.
• When you're being guarded out on the perimeter, off the ball, no matter where I go, the CPU just seems to know where I'm going, he always bumps me, and always keeps up with me. No matter if it's a slow point guard like Derek Fisher, or a defensive stopper like Shane Battier, the result is always the same. Reduce the collision animations or at least have a way to counter them, and don't have the CPU guard me like if they know where I'm going.


• One thing that bothers me: my mid-range attribute is at 85, yet I always brick wide open mid-range jumpshots. WTF is this? Is is some sort of glitch? If my mid-range attribute is at 85, then my wide open mid-range jumpshots should be automatic two points the majority of the time.
• When a teammate of mine is just 2-3 feet away from me, and I try to pass to him, the player guarding me deflects the pass. In other words, the CPU is more ready for my passes than my teammates themselves! Have pass deflections be more realistic, and don't have the CPU make blind interceptions. This applies to the whole game itself.
• Why is it so hard to get in the paint? When a team traps the pick and roll, it's so difficult to get past the big man, and in reality, a quicker player should be able to go around him because the big man lacks lateral quickness as I mentioned earlier. I should be able to go past him and into the paint. Also, players like Derek Fisher are hard to get past, I go around him and out of nowhere he recovers to block my path. For 2K12, make it a little easier to get into the paint, not just in MP mode, but in every game mode.

There, the vitals. If 2K can take that into consideration and fix at least half of those gripes, that would be a big step forward for the mode.

- More scoreboards to choose on
- More accessories like power balance etc.
- More hairstyle, tattoos on my player
- More animations from fans
- Add some Country teams

OK, here's my precious list of wishes
make a better A.I. of teammates. For example, when i dribble the ball and opponent steals it from me, make 'em run momentarily to try to get lose ball, not just stand and watch opponent run a fastbrake. Also after failed Alley Oop pass, make a target Alley Oop player run for that bad pass, not watch ball goes out of bounds. Also in A.I. try to make non-controlled players to recognize plays, so when i steal the ball, make 'em run quick for easy fastbrake finish (like Wade&Bron duo do it all the time). Punish the lazy defense!!!! Also improve NBA superstars A.I's!!! I want D-Rose drive more, Lebron chase-down blocks, Kobe foot-work, Pau's girlish kind of play-style, Ron Ron's bully style, Durantula knock down shoots more, Nash first look to pass etc.

Make signature moving on the floor for superstars like Wade snake quick footwork, T-Mac laid back walk, Kobe's (Jordan like) walk and gesticulation on the floor, Lebron ducky kind of legs, Pau's and Duncan's X leg's etc. It would be awesome to see them move & act like on TV or live!

I have some good idea!!! If i'm a part of NBA 2K Sports team i would make a dunk/layup creator! That would take care of kinda limited amount of animations you made for each player! Let us make 'em!!! That way we all could create our own moves & share them with all over the world! Here's what i got: Made a simple 3D model of player (without texture) who runs into some basic dunk animation (for example one handed tomahawk of one leg). Then input possibility to load video clips (some basic avi, mpeg extensions) behind that player (like huge video BIM)! So i want to make a Latrell Sprewell monster two handed rim raping dunk! I load video of dunk i want. Then slow motion play it in background of 3d model and basically move model's elbows, knees, torso etc. like on video behind. 3D model would have some premade animations (of one leg, from two leg's, 360 from one leg, reverse from who leg etc.) so we would just modify 'em! Also program would have a possibility to put a model of defender in 3D to make poster dunks!!! So defender would have a some options of style of defense he play before he got dunked on (for example just stand below the rim, try to take a charge, goes for block etc.) The most important thing in this would be possibility to modify & create hanging on the rim by the players or rip-off rim (like K-Mart, Spree would do) and put some premade gesticulates that player would make after a dunk (like Sprewell "rise the roof" hand animation or Javal McGee saluting etc.) With this mode/software it's gonna be THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!

Dunno is this idea possible to make, but if i'm programmer i would make it!!!

OK maybe with the announcers doing generated rookies maybe they only talk about the rookies in the first round.

I seem to remember an older PS2 NBA game had a create-your-dunk type mode. Worked okay, as I recall too. It was either NBA shootout or 2K, from 2000-2003.

Big things I'd like to see improved:

My Player, I'm not even going to go into detail, I know they didn't put much effort into the mode, and it shows. Make it more accessible for the average user, I dont want to play 164 games with a shit SG just to reach an OVR 63. I would think the huge point of the mode is to bring up the next Michael Jordan, not a 2nd rounder. There is so much potential in this mode...

Gameplay, smarter and more active AI teammates. Rebounding needs a complete rework. My 7' center with 99 OFF REB shouldn't be getting out-hustled by Keyon Dooling for an Offensive board. Even with adjusted sliders, the mechanics are just horrid.

GET RID OF THE SPRITE SPARK OF THE GAME. Or at least make it somewhat interesting. 99% of the time it's "Nets are picking up this games sprite spark of the game for that run...", every now and then if your player has over 40 points going into the fourth he gets mentioned but usually not.

Find a way to make the Association better in later years. With new generated rookies the mode really looses it's interest. Make the rookies feel less like CPU Generated freaks, and more like promoted stars of the NBA today. Give them a backstory during games, maybe talk about upcoming generated rookies as the season winds down, i.e> "the Raptors with a good chance of getting the #1 pick in this years draft would benefit greatly from CPU GENERATED ROOKIE, and his tremendous ability to shoot the ball". What ever you get the point.

A couple nitpicking things: Be able to import draft class half way through season! In-game custom music, not just arena music....

But I still play 2k11 weekly and don't have many problems with the core gameplay. If they took all focus off of gameplay this year I'd still buy, & love 2k12.

My wishlist:

- All star saturday night events

- Have crowd get up and leave if home team is being blown out

- Better transitions between animations and better animation themselves- now it looks robotic, when a CPU player sprints, then stops, then starts to do fancy ball handles etc. Make it look natural. Also running animations look extremely robotic, have players fling their off ball hands randomly or something else.

- Have accurate colors- no more pinks or sky blues when they ain't needed

- Fix an issue when the crowd would go quiet even though home team has a big lead.

- Continue to improve presentation: I want to see some stuff before the game, like showing key factors for either team, how teams and key players perform against one another (ppg, percentages, etc). Perhaps include some real life footage of star players' highlights, just to make it better. The presentation before the game should go on for a few minutes and not just 30 seconds. It's nice to find out interesting stuff about the team you are facing.

- Starting Lineup introductions at the start of the game.

- Put more emphasis on big time events presentation-wise: The season opener should have noticeably anticipation before the game, as well as all star games, rookie challenges, playoff openers, and, of course, NBA Finals opener.

- Be creative and add more stuff to half time show, like wider analysis of the game, maybe with people in a studio (you could have EJ, Kenny and Chuck, how cool is that! ) They could talk about how teams performed, state opinions and even crack a few jokes. The point is make it longer to feel more like halftime and not a timeout, while still making it interesting and worth to look at. 3-4 minutes is what I'm thinking.

- I'd like to see interviews in association like we have in my player in 2k11. Might be tricky to do players' voices and all that, but I don't think people would be bugged much if players did not have their own voices. If this gets done I'd like to see coaches and key players answering questions, possibly representatives of the CPU team you just played could answer questions too, and you will have the ability to hear all that. It can be fun and lead to disliking the other team if they say something bad about you Would bring more feel to the association. Answers could affect all of the same things as in my player, only it affects the whole team (chemistry, fans. I'm not sure what effect it could have on league popularity, but I'm thinking the more popular your team is, the better chance players wish to sign with you or resign in the offseason. Could also result in more trades being offered to you by the CPU teams.)

- More statistics in association, like dunks, opp. fg% etc.

- Have ads show during time-outs if it's a full one and if it's more than 2 minutes to go in the 4th. Something similar to between the quarters, maybe NBA Cares ones that we see in real nba season.

- Add playoff crowds for teams that has them, e.g. Thunder in blue, Heat in white, Bulls in Red etc. Don't use playoff crowds on teams that don't use them (or at least fans are too proud to put on a giveaway t-shirt), like the LA Lakers.

- Present important events with logos and accessories like in real life, e.g. green headbands and Green Week Logos on courts, Christmas logo on jerseys as well as NBA Cares logo on courts (can't remember exactly what the on-court logo was this year), etc.

- In association, ability to view the season series between teams, including the record and results.

-In association, have ability to compare any 2 teams and any 2 players, with every single stat available.

- In association, add ability to promote assistant coaches to head coaches.

- In association, add ability to have 3 assistant coaches instead of just 1, the more assistant coaches means more drills can be done (the ones that we can do monthly).

- Perhaps do a couple of scoreboard designs that would be random for each game, therefore creating an illusion of games being broadcasted by different televisions.

- In association, do a "show" of team previews- show last season's stats and accomplishments, leading players, roster changes during the offseason etc. Commentary is welcome but not completely necessary.

- In association, important internal news should pop-up as a message, like a change of player's morale, etc.

- In association, add chemistry between players (any player to any player), much like in NBA Live 08

REALISTIC DEFAULT GAME SLIDERS

- TOO MANY DUNKS You can dunk the ball from the free throw line or posterize in every possession. CPU do pretty much the same, and sliders dont work for this - Dunk ability or something - dunk tendencies - set to 0 and we gonna see 40 dunks in game. Too many spectacular dunks in the game as well.

- Foul calls. On max. rules- every single foul set to 90 , i have like 12 free throw attempts and cpu also. This is not similar at all to basketball game.

- Wack defense - set both player and CPU defense strength at 100 and you can cross cpu players with no effort.

Reactions from commentators after crucial, important and amazing plays, especially in playoffs it is annoying

Well I saw lot of good ideas here, well I have couple too.
Add your team top 10, I mean when game ends (But its hard I think, PC don't know what is beautiful )
Add couple commentators. For home games one and for road other.
Add tone of different commentators phrases
Add all stars weekend (full)
Add more accessories
Let manage not even game, but ticket selling price.
Add virtual training, but training with coach, more realistic
Well make more realistic crowd, like in NBA games.
And there is more, but 2K just do couple updates and game will be more and more better.

make the generated rookies look NORMAL!!!! i hate going deep into association mode because the rookies look so stupid. The faces all blend and look the same, the hair is terrible...its just horrible in every sense...i hate the appearance of the generated rookies 2k Team make the fake rookies look like real people please...and dont even get me started on how the white generated rookies look...its terrible

If 2k could get the rights to Fox, and get all the local stations, heaven. But that's a far out possibility.

I would like to see that you can put your own cyberface in the my player mode... and be able to dunk the ball when drafted, coz every player can dunk in the nba,,

-Better player animations, movements.
-This could be fun: able to say unknown names.

Never seen boykins dunk, Tim Duncan dunks once every 100 possessions. Not a problem.

- More Custom-Motions for all Players
- With more National-Teams & International Club-Teams
- And1 Team (Streetball) would also be good

Maybe they could add a selection of Old playoff teams. Possibly through 2K Share, where 2K themselves have Roster files for that.

If not then let us somehow use Kinect's camera, or even have access to online Patch/Mod files.

The only thing I think they need to improve is the crowd.
Make the crowd like in nba live 10.
Playoff games dosen't feel like playoff at all.

Custom crowd (only in Playoffs)

What are people's guesses for what they're going to do with the Jordan Challenges this year? While to most they weren't anything huge, to the media, it showed extra effort and got the game definitely more recognized. I mean they were fun for a bit, but I doubt many of us finished them.

I can't see them completely taking them out, my guess would be they add other HoF players big games to the list, if anything at all.

I'd say that's a pretty good guess. It'd be a worthwhile expansion of the concept.
