Improve Your Player and Player Influence

Please PM me your requests. Ensure that you know what attributes exist in 2K9! Do not forget to include the name of your virtual player.

Improve Your Player

Every participant has a certain number of points that they will be able to use on improving attributes of their virtual player. You only have one chance to use all these points so don’t waste your points (i.e. any leftover points are not able to be brought forward to the next tipping competition).

For every Skill-based attribute, it costs you 10 points in order to improve that certain attribute by 1. Skill-based attributes are skills like shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, etc.

For every Physical-based attribute, it costs you 15 points in order to improve that certain attribute. Physical-based attributes includes attributes like strength, speed, endurance, as well as mental attributes such as awareness.

Player Influence

Here is a brand new scheme that gives you more control over the fortunes of your virtual player.

    Consult your Coach/GM

Complain About Role On Team: 50 points
Complain About A Teammate: 100 points
Ask GM To Trade For Another Player: 150 points

    Trade

    Demand Trade: 100 points
Demand Trade and Request Preferred Destination: 150 points
Demand Trade and Request 2 Different Destinations: 180 points
Demand Trade and Request 5 Different Destinations: 250 points

    Free Agency

    Preferred Destination: 50 points
    2 Destinations: 80 points
    3 Destinations: 100 points

The more points spent, the stronger your request will be. If you don’t like being a benchwarmer, you can complain about your role. The more points you use, the stronger your complaint will be. It may result in a teammate being traded away or you forcing your way into the starting five. For example, spend 150 points to complain about your role and you are more likely to succeed with your complaint than spending just 100 points.

If you don’t like your team, spend at least 200 points to demand a trade. To ensure your trade demand does not fall upon deaf ears, spend more points to get your point across.

There are no guarantees that your player’s wishes will be heard and the only way to get past this is to spend more points.

Points

You can accumulate points during any time of the season by participating in contests and also by posting articles that provide a different view of my story.

These points may be cashed in:

at the conclusion of the postseason,
before the regular season begins, and
    All-Star weekend.

Points Leaderboard

Playoff predictions, awards predictions and other points have all been accounted for.

As you will see below, all those who participated in the contests or posting articles have the most points. You can still post articles if you wish!

Allocate my points to a couple of Valor's attributes that you think he needs bumping up in. He needs to be better to help our Mavs :P

Chris Hova Asks For Trade Out

Image

February 1, TORONTO – Toronto Raptors PG Chris Hova has put in a request to be traded from the team. After showing optimism for the team’s future prospects earlier this season, the four year guard has changed his own tune over the course of the season.

The arrival of first pick Coby Clark and return of Vince Carter have not helped the Raptors turn around their fortunes. Furthermore, Hova has not performed as strongly as many would have liked since taking over the starting point guard spot for the Raptors. He is averaging 11 points and 7.5 assists a game but as Carter puts it, “That’s solid but not acceptable for someone who should be an All-Star.”

Hova is in the last year of his contract but believes that leaving sooner and joining another team would help boost his free agency stock. “I am a better player than I have shown and I want to show that to other teams around the league,” Hova said, “Being here in Toronto is not helping because there’s no talent to feed off my skills.”

The usually diplomatic Hova talked about the upcoming free agency, “If a team traded for me, I’d be inclined to stay with them. The main thing for me though is to show that I’m worth more than the minimum salary here in the NBA.”

Mr. O'Greene told me that being drafted in the same team as the greatness that is Joel Anthony would already be a proud achievement for my client.

Yep, you will get more minutes once Brand leaves (I think he's in Washington atm)

Well, you are actually in the rotation. And you get your share of minutes by sharing with The X.

(Y) You are the most physical player and strongest in the draft but have absolutely no offensive skills. :)

Dare On Course To Win Rookie Of The Year

Image

February 1, CHARLOTTE – No one would have thought Julian Dare was going to score close to 20 points a game in his rookie season as well as upstage first overall draft pick Coby Clark for the first half of the regular season. For one of the first times in franchise history, Michael Jordan made a good draft move.

Shaun Skinner’s growth into a solid inside player has been one big reason for the Bobcats’ success but it has been Dare’s confidence in taking the shots that has counted even more. None of the Bobcats apart from Devin Harris are confident enough to shoot the rock especially in tight fourth quarter situations. It’s helping Charlotte to have two guys who can take up that challenge.

Harris has given Dare some tutelage and it has paid off as the season rolls on with Dare’s performances staying consistent. “Devin is a good teacher,” Dare stated, “He teaches me how to prepare before and after games. We make a good team.” Veteran Harris even said after one game, “I think he’s a confident rookie because he knows I’m there to give him that guidance on and off the floor. He and Shaun (Skinner) are going to be important for this club going forward so I need to be hands-on while I still have the legs to run.”

The Bobcats have hovered around a much coveted playoff seeding. At the current pace they are going at, Charlotte may just snatch one. And if they do, Dare believes he’d be a lock for a surprising Rookie of the Year award.

“No one thought he was going to be this good,” the Raptors’ Clark spoke of Dare, “I’ve seen him around the traps back in college and I’ve got to say I would not have picked this kind of rookie year from him. Kudos to him – he’s handled himself very well.”
