Realistic results for the first round so far, the way Nowitzki performed in this is exactly the opposite in mine, he's mediocre and can't even score 20 points against our series, glad the Mavs able to knocked off the Spurs. Btw is that Deng? Why is he wearing number 20?

He proved why he is the no.1 pick in the draft this year. He overshadowed other rookies this season. He is 2nd in the league in SPG and 6th on APG. He also posted 3 triple-doubles during the regular season. LA Clippers Blake Griffin finished 2nd in voting while Evan Turner of the Philadelphia 76ers is in 3rd place.


Defensive Player of the Year – Ben Wallace | San Antonio Spurs

Who would have thought that he would win his 5th DPOY award, Wallace has now led the league in winning this category. After being traded to the Spurs he immediately help them to a late playoff run during the regular season. His best game of the season was against the Orlando Magic where he had 5 steals, 4 blocks and 22 rebounds and he limited Dwight Howard to 11 points and 11 boards.


Sixth Man of the Year - Evan Turner | Philadelphia 76ers
9.9 PPG | 6.0 RPG | 2.6 APG | 0.9 SPG | 0.6 BPG | .423 FG | .761 FT | .255 3PT

The second rookie in league history to won the 6th man award. He did not just bring scoring off the bench, he did almost everything. He rebounds, he set plays for his teammates, and he led the second unit. Lamar Odom finished 2nd in voting while Mehmet Okur finished 3rd place.


Most Improved Player – Derrick Rose | Chicago Bulls

Well most people talks about him being the real MVP of the season. He has led the Chicago Bulls to a 3rd best record in the Eastern Conference. He ranks second in PPG and fourth on APG. He makes the players around him better and surely he is the most important player on his team.


Coach of the Year – Avery Johnson | New Jersey Nets
47-35 | 1 Division | 4 Conference

From being the worst team last season to having the 4th best record in the Eastern Conference. You can’t deny that having Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups on the team made it easier but even before the trade the team is winning a lot of games.

Bargs in All-NBA Team Good job on Kobe winning the MVP, though I'd pick Rose over him.

1LA LAKERS (60-22) VS 4UTAH JAZZ (48-34)

The LA Lakers and Utah Jazz will meet again on a rematch of last year’s second round match up. The Lakers have dominated the Jazz in the regular season and with Paul Millsap still questionable to play because of his injury the Lakers got major advantage. Mehmet Okur will be starting at the PF spot and he will help to loosen up the Lakers defense because of his outside shooting and that will make a lot of opportunity for the backcourt duo of Allen Iverson and Raymond Felton to work. But with Kobe Bryant on the Lakers then this will be a hard series for those guys.

After quick work against the Spurs the Dallas Mavericks will have a tough time against the Portland Traiblazers. Brandoy Roy and LaMarcus Aldrige will be the main problem for the Mavs defensively. Jason Kidd can match up with Andre Miller and he will not be dominated when Miller post up. Dirk Nowitzki should have a tough time because of the many defenders the Blazers can put on him. On paper the Blazers definitely have the advantage but during the regular season the Mavs swept them. This would be a long and fun series to watch.

Unexpectedly the Atlanta Hawks had an easy first round against the Nets but against the Miami Heat then it’s a different story. Obviously the Hawks should focus their defense on the Heat’s trio of Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. For the Heat offense is not a problem but in the defensive end the other players should step up big time because the Hawks like to have a fast pace offense due to their small lineup. Expect this to have a lot of highlight plays but this will not be a long series.

The Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic are both lower seeds in the East but they managed to win against their opponents because of their playoff experience. The Magic will look for Dwight Howard to dominate but that is not easy because of the Celtics bigmans, starting with Shaquille Oneal down to Kendrick Perkins. The Celtics are a well balance team and anyone could be a problem offensively if Jameer Nelson can outplay Rajon Rondo then there will be a chance for them to win.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm 4-0 against the Jazz in the regular season so I'm pretty confident.

I will also cancel the "Drive to the Finals" its too much work and honestly i don't have the time to do it. Will give 100 points to all that participate.

It was a battle in the first quarter and both teams were tied at 19. That is the closest battle as the Lakers outscored the Jazz in the second quarter 26-15 and go on to win game one. The Lakers played great defense as they just allowed the Jazz to 42% shooting, they also outrebounded the Jazz 43-28.

The Lakers were led by Kobe Bryant who had 27 points, 5 rebound, 5 assists and 1 steal. He nailed 10 of his 17 shots, including 2 attempts beyond the arc. Ron Artest had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals, Pau Gasol had 10 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks while Lamar Odom had 14 points off the bench.

Allen Iverson led the Jazz with 23 points and backcourt teammate Raymond Felton had 21 points and 7 assists. Al Jefferson was limited to just 9 points and 9 rebounds. The Jazz bench only scored 4 points, Earl Watson and Kelena Azuibuike were the only ones who scored. The Jazz did not scored any threepointers in 16 attempts.

The Lakers defense again was the key to their dominating win in game two. They hold the Jazz to only 44% shooting while the Lakers shot 54%. They made a huge run in the second and third quarter and never look back.

The Lakers two big men dominated the game. Andrew Bynum had a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards while Pau Gasol had 20 points and 7 boards. Kobe Bryant only had 18 points but managed to get 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Steve Blake added 12 points.

Andrei Kirilenko led his team with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Al Jefferson had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds while Raymond Felton finished with 16 points, 7 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Only those three players scored above 5 points for their team.

The Utah Jazz is in a big hole as they are on the edge of another Lakers sweep. The Lakers leaned on their dynamic duo on this win. Kobe Bryant finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals. Pau Gasol had 20 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks.

Andrew Bynum also had a good game with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers bench outplayed the Utah bench. Shannon Brown had 15 points, Lamar Odom had 8 points and 5 boards, Matt Barnes had 8 points, and Reggie Williams had 6 points.

Al Jefferson had 21 points and 8 rebounds for his team. Andrei Kirilenko had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Allen Iverson and Raymond Felton each finished with 11 points. The Jazz bench only scored 23 points in this game, 9 points coming from C.J Miles and Kelena Azuibuike.

The LA Lakers advances to the Western Conference Finals with an 86-78 win and completed the sweep against the Utah Jazz.

Kobe Bryant led the way with 23 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Pau Gasol had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocks. Andrew Bynum had another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Steve Blake hit all of his threepointers and finished with 12 points.

The Jazz were led by Paul Millsap who returned from injury, he finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Raymond Felton had 13 points and 9 assists. Al Jefferson had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Allen Iverson also added 12 points.

The Lakers are now waiting who will win in the Dallas-Portland series.

PLAYOFFS RECAP: SECOND ROUND

WESTERN CONFERENCE



Much as last year the LA Lakers ended the series quick as they swept the Utah Jazz 4-0. The Jazz just can’t find their rhythm through out the series as they only shot an average of 43% from the field. They also battled without Paul Millsap who only played game four.

The main problem of the Jazz is they can’t stop the duo of Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant. Gasol averaged 16.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG, and 2.75 BPG he shot 54% in the entire series. Bryant has been superb with 24.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 6.5 APG. The Lakers bench have outplayed the Jazz bench and with them playing at a high level this team is on pace on their quest to threepeat.



The Dallas Mavericks have started the series down 2-0. But they regroup and win three straight games to take on the lead against the Portland Traiblazers. The Blazers forced game 7 thanks to a 34 points performance by LaMarcus Aldridge who struggle the whole series. In game 7 the Mavs won 88-80 but they lose Rodrigue Beaubois and will miss at least two weeks.

Dirk Nowitzki averaged 27.7 PPG and 10.7 RPG in the series and really outplayed Aldridge. Aldridge only averaged 14.9 PPG and 7.2 RPG in almost all of the games he has been in foul trouble. Gerald Wallace and Andre Miller also struggle in the series as both them is combined for 41% shooting and 4.6 TOPG. Stats might not show it but Jason Kidd and Shawn Marion played a great series defensively.

EASTERN CONFERENCE


The Atlanta Hawks continues to surprise everyone as the upset the Miami Heat beating them in six games. The Heat who won the first two games easily has struggled in the last four games. In games 1 and 2 the Heat averaged 112 PPG but the in the last four games they only averaged 86 PPG. The trio of Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade surprisingly has been inconsistent in the series.

Another surprise is Joe Johnson who averaged an amazing 30.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 5.8 APG and 2.1 SPG. He has been a one man wrecking crew. Josh Smith and Al Horford both averaged double-double. Jamaal Crawford struggles a little bit offensively but done a great job defensively against Wade.



After a hard fought first round against the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics made quick work of the Orlando Magic as the swept them. The Celtics strategy is simple, they know that they can’t stop Dwight Howard so they played great defense against his teammates. Howard averaged 26.4 PPG, 13.2 RPG and 2.1 BPG. But the rest of his teammates had a hard time against the Celtics.

The Celtics rely on Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to carry the offensive load. Pierce averaged 19.6 PPG while Allen had 18.9 PPG. While Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo set the tone defensively for their team. Jermaine Oneal had a great series off the bench, he averaged 9.2 PPG and 7.6 RPG.
