Hopefully the refs won't call all of the tick-tack fouls the rest of the series, I mean come on 32-18 to the Heat on FT is a little lop sided even if you have LeBron and Wade. The double tech on Pierce wasn't supposed to be, the first tech he got was a joke with James Jones escaping the flagrant foul for some reason.

BTW, can anyone tell me why isn't Troy Murphy playing in this series?? the guy averaged 14-10 last year on the Pacers! I would take him any day over Krstic. I would give Wafer some minutes for his hustle too.

Tell me how many of those fouls were not deserving for the Heat? Did you watch the game? Most of, if not all, free throws were deserving. People just should stop looking at free throw numbers and keep assuming everybody favored Miami.

When you wrap your arms on the head or neck that's a flagrant foul and the headbutt on jones that is what you called a flop.

James Jones definitely applied some acting there when Pierce 'headbutted' him.

Flagrant Fouls: These fouls are considered unnecessary and/or excessive. There are two types of flagrant fouls, 1 and 2. A flagrant 1 is unnecessary contact. This is usually when a defensive player swings and makes hard contact with the offensive player or makes hard contact and then follows through. A flagrant foul 2 is unnecessary and excessive contact. This usually has a swinging motion, hard contact, and a follow through. Both fouls carry a penalty of two free throws and the team that was fouled retains possession. A flagrant foul 2 also results in an ejection of the player committing the foul. A player also is ejected if he commits two flagrant foul penalty 1’s.

Going after a player's neck/head certainly counts as unnecessary.

I think your love with Miami Heat is BLINDING YOUR VERY EYES.

It obviously was a flagrant on Jones but I feel like Pierce overreacted. Jones is not that kind of player and Pierce actually started the contact by bumping his shoulder into Jones' thigh before he got fouled. That is why Jones reacted the way he did. But the rules are the rules and Jones was wrong for grabbing him the way he did.

Well, cannot argue against the rule although it's true that referees have been calling flagrant rather based on the intensity of the foul. I've seen many blown calls against Lebron this season on that account, sorta like Shaq back in the days.

As for Jones's foul, I rather saw it as a good old hard playoff foul. What's more interesting was a flagrant call on Jermaine.

Joe is an idiot. Good thing we have more than 1 ref on the floor. Headbutt or not, there definitely was a contact. Jones reacted to get away from Pierce's monster breathe. What a flop.

@NovU, It seems most people are agreeing that there was a flagrant foul (for god's sake the commentators said this in-game after watching the replay). Same thing goes for the first tech for Pierce, you can see that he walk up to him head to head, no headbutt just flop.

You yourself should watch the replays before trashing people for what they're posting, even if it's against your team.

i believe that's called an "eskimo kiss" Pierce=

even though it technically wasn't a headbutt, he still had the intention of hitting Jones and did make contact so i think he shouldve been tossed right there. it was similar to what Zaza did to JRich except Zaza is 7 feet tall so he had to travel a bit further to connect on the shot, making the headbutt more obvious

Why did Pierce get tossed?

He got two techs in the span of 59 seconds.

After watching the vids I have one thing to say.

If picking the ball up and beginning to project it towards the basket before being fouled isn't enough for it to be considered 'in the act', why does Paul Pierce ever shoot free throws?

That should be a shooting foul, but Pierce is also pretty adept at pivoting into defenders, getting the whistle and then putting up the shot with the result being a shooting foul call; that's the one I disagree with. He's not the only one that does it but he's one of the best at doing it and since that's the way they're calling the game, it's a smart play on his part.

Well yes, but he always leaves the floor and shoots the ball after contact. Rondo did so before the contact, and failed to get the call. That was my point.
