Adam Morrison and his moustache carried the West Null-Stars to beat the East squad

Morrison named MVP rout East Null-Stars

LOS ANGELES -- The inaugural NBA Null-Star game wasn't so that successful because fans leave early after watching the Rookie Challenge, but it was the night for Adam Morrison.

Morrison was named the MVP after carrying his team to roll past the East Null-Stars 95-87. Morrison scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, three steals, three blocks on a 9-of-12 shooting. The free-agent forward was the top earner of votes to put him into the starting lineup for the West.

The West team led the game throughout and didn't give the East a chance, Gerald Green who protested in the end that he should be the MVP, scored all his 20 points in the second quarter that sparked an 14-3 run against the opposing team. Trailblazers guard Patrick Mills had 17 points, nine assists and four steals, while Darko Millicic contributed an effective 13 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting, he also had five rebounds in the game.

As for the East Null-Stars, four players hit double-digits, Heat forward James Jones netted 23 points, Earl Boykins had a nearly double-double, 16 points and nine assists, Sonny Weems and Brian Scalabrine had 14 and 10 respectively. Top vote getter for the East somehow didn't impressed that much, Joel Anthony only scored 2 points, grabbed one rebounds and blocked two shots in his 23 minutes playing time. Joe Alexander had a perfect shooting night en route to nine points.

The game is quite somehow entertaining, though the game was only limited to eight minutes. "They should do this again next year, winning MVP is a awesome feeling," Morrison said. "As for Gerald, the only thing you can do is dunking, and one thing more, I love the jersey!"

The West hit 3-of-12 of their three points attempts while East shot 6-of-19, East somehow grabbed more rebounds than the West, 23-14.

It is been questionable if the league will repeat this event next year, but is really more entertaining than the HORSE event I guess.

The new Spur outlasted Harden and Pierce in the Foot-Locker 3-Point Finals

Spurs' Brooks wins 2011 3-Point Shootout after beating Harden and Pierce

LOS ANGELES -- Aaron Brooks is the first ever Spur to win a 3-Point Contest. Brooks nailed 23 points, one point shy from Mark Price's record for most points in the 3-Point contest Finals.

Brooks outlasted Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden and defending champion Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics in the contest finals. Brooks only notched 14 points in the first round that made him just the third place behind Pierce's 16 points while Harden who's the first place had a first-round high 20 points.

Two-time participant Mike Miller had a poor performance hitting only 10, the lowest in the first round. League leading in 3-Point percentage Michael Conley scored just 12 points, Omri Casspi were also eliminated early by just his 11 points.

It was pretty exciting in the finals, Everybody thought that Harden will take home the crown by his 18 points, but Brooks didn't miss any shot in the last rack to put the icing on the cake. Pierce finished the contest exhausted and only had 15 points in the last round.

Blake Griffin jumps over a car to seal his victory in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

Griffin jumped over a car, edges Young to win 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

LOS ANGELES -- Blake Griffin was favored even before the Sprite NBA Slam Dunk contest underway and he showed everyone why.

Undoubtedly one of the best rookie in the NBA today, Griffin expectantly reached the finals, delivering dunks that drew approval and cheers from the sellout crowd present at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

In this year’s finals, Griffin of the LA Clippers was joined by Washington Wizard’s guard Nick Young. Both players were given 2 dunks in the final round.

With four players -- Tyrus Thomas, Young, Russell Westbrook and Griffin -- competing in the two-round, two-dunks-per-round competition -- the hometown L.A. favorite who has been a rookie sensation for the Clippers played the crowd and built the evening to a entertaining dunk show.[

Thomas and Westbrook were eliminated in the first round. Thomas highlight dunk was when he did a cartwheel, and did a near-between the legs dunk, but he only touch the ball by his left hand and threw it with both hands with authority, Thomas earned 50 points for his dunk while for Westbrook, he tossed the ball up air and catch it then threw a windmill jam, but the dunk only scored as 45. Thomas points for the first round overall is 96 while Westbrook got himself 92.

However, Young and Griffin were clearly a notch above the field and it was really Griffin who made the best early impression. He scored a 50 on his first dunk of the contest with a bounce pass to himself and dunking the ball all the way including his forearm à la Vince Carter in 2000. Then for the second dunk of the first round, Griffin did a under-the-leg dunk that also earned him a 50 and was the leader going into the final round. The other finalist, Young, did a 360 dunk jumping over a steel chair and earning a 50 from the judges, for his second dunk, he tossed the ball under his left hand, catches and did a full windmill jam like what The Human Highlight Film did. Young's overall score for the first round was 98.

Then for the Finals which the fan voting was already omitted, Young's performance was overshadowed by Griffin's mind-boggling dunks, Young's first dunk was a full-360 one-handed jam, then all of a sudden, Griffin challenged Young's dunk and did also a 360 no-look dunk that made the audience crazy. Both dunks earned 50. And for the final dunks, Young may earned his own nickname as "Mr. 360" as he again jammed a smooth and fluid 360 dunk, but surprisingly the dunk earned a 49. As for the clincher, Blake Griffin would bring out the big guns for that. It started when the green 2011 Kia Optima cruised out onto the court. Griffin smiling before flying, jumped over the car and finishing powerful with one hand. The dunk was obviously scored 50 that would earn him the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Championship over the Washington Wizards’ Nick Young.

There were plenty of great dunks during this year’s competition. And you can put this year's contest to one of the best that the league ever had, here's the shots and also a video for all of the dunks.

LeBron James collected another trophy as he earned the MVP honors in the All-Star Game

East outplayed West in the most high-scoring All-Star Game ever

LOS ANGELES -- After the people of L.A. saw a Clipper soar over a car, now it's the game that will also feature a jam pack of highlight reels, entertainment, sportmanship of the different stars of the league today.

LeBron James made a promise before the game that he will win that All-Star MVP trophy, and somehow, James' promise was fulfilled.

James scored a team-high 33 points on a 16-of-22 shooting help the East squeeze out a 176-155 win over the West, the highest scoring All-Star Game ever in the history.

Kobe Bryant with the home crowd in favor, is determined to led the West to beat the East, but he fell short, he scored a game-high 35 points though. The first two quarters are heavily contested along with incredible alley-oops, flashy passes, and rim rattling jams. In the third quarter, the East got away with James leading by scoring 15 points straight to win that quarter, 41-33. James was helped by his own teammate Dwyane Wade, finishing with 21 points, handing out four assists, grabbing three rebounds, blocking two shots and making two steals.

The East started the game by a two consecutive alley-oop orchestrated by Rajon Rondo to Wade. Rondo didn't play that good though, finishing with five points along with seven assists. Coming off the bench, a rejuvenated Gilbert Arenas tallied 24 points on a 8-of-13 shooting including 4-of-5 from downtown, he also had three assists but committed seven turnovers. Danny Granger scored 18, two-time All-Star Derrick Rose had 17 and six steals while Dwight Howard despite playing 31 minutes only scored 14 points. Hawks guard Joe Johnson netted 14 points. Amar'e Stoudemire had a quiet night with eight points.

As for the West, Carmelo Anthony who's still carrying his Nuggets, finished the game with 24 points on a efficient 11-of-15 shooting, first year All-Star Tyreke Evans had a great game with 18 points, Kevin Durant posted 17 points, newly Rocket Tony Parker who replaced Monta Ellis' spot had a double-double, 14 points and 12 assists. Starting point guard Deron Williams scored only six points and dished 13 assists.[/b]

The East hit the 69% FG plateau, the West shot 65%. West also committed more turnovers than the East, 42-33. East had 34 fastbreak points compared to East's 14.

The All-Star Festival had concluded successful and entertaining. The next interesting part of the season will come next, the Playoffs. Here's some of the highlights that was taken from the game.

George7, Young's dunk was dope. As for the court, I just did a little tinkering with the files, renamed the All-Star court to the Blacktop court's file name and that's it.

thatwizardguy, Blacktop mode with renaming some files.

Deciding if I will sim this to the Playoffs to make the pace fast. What do you guys think? If anybody is checking

The presentation is superb as usual, good re-make of Blake's dunk, although this was way more impressive. :D

I simmed to the Playoffs, made it easier, but you have to make your own decision.

Martti., Thanks man, all of the dunks except the over the car dunk was executed by the AI. Let's see, if I get bored I'll just sim this to the Playoffs :)

Thierry •, Here's what I've done man, first do a backup for the Blacktop court and stadium, the file name for these two files is s612 and f612. Then download the All-Star court, here's the thread for the file, viewtopic.php?f=136&t=75480 after downloading, rename the stadium and floor file as what the Blacktop's name (s612 and f612), paste these two renamed files in your 2k11 folder. Then that's it!

Justine., thats exactly how i was going to do all-star weekend

one question though...when you do blacktop mode and 3 point...they wear the black and white street uniforms...what did u do to get the players to wear their team uniforms?

my plan was to switch out the street uniforms with the team uniforms...but i would have to do 1 player at a time...

just seeing if u found a better way

oh and (Y) on the Blake over the green Kia

Thunder Up - 2011 Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals Preview

Postby Justine. on Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:27 pm

Image

(1) Image Oklahoma City Thunder (57-25) vs (8) Image Dallas Mavericks (43-39)

Projected Starters: R. Westbrook | T. Sefolosha | K. Durant | J. Green | S. Ibaka | 6th Man - J. Harden
Projected Sterters: J. Kidd | R. Hamilton | C. Butler | D. Nowitzki | B. Wallace | 6th Man - Shawn Marion

Thunder ousted the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers for the top spot. Here's a very interesting matchup for the first round, surely Russell Westbrook may find himself much faster than the aging Jason Kidd. Kevin Durant's height advantage compared to Caron Butler is another factor, but the Thunder problem is the front court, Nenad Krstic is injured and they need a step-up game from Serge Ibaka who will be filling his spot for the starter. Question is can he stop Dirk Nowitzki as so as Ben Wallace?

Prediction: Thunder in 6

(4) Image San Antonio Spurs (48-34) vs (5) Image Denver Nuggets (49-33)

Projected Starters: A. Brooks | M. Ginobili | R. Jefferson | T. Duncan | Y. Ming | 6th Man - G. Hill
Projected Starters: C. Billups | A. Afflalo | C. Anthony | K. Martin | Nene | 6th Man - R. Brewer

Nuggets didn't let go of Carmelo Anthony in the trade deadline, now they must keep Melo happy. One way is to play well through the Playoffs, but they will face a heavy, now defensive-minded team Spurs. A team that is completely different after the trade deadline. They bring in Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks. Nuggets though have a deeper bench.

Prediction: Nuggets in 7

(3) Image Golden State Warriors (51-31) vs (6) Image New Orleans Hornets (47-35)

Projected Starters: S. Curry | M. Ellis | D. Wright | D. Lee | M. Camby | 6th Man - R. Williams
Projected Starters: C. Paul | M. Thornton | T. Ariza | D. West | E. Okafor | 6th Man - J. Bayless

Warriors is the most surprising team this season and they are officially back on the Playoffs. They are third in the West and will face Chris Paul and the Hornets. This series will surely go wire-to-wire. Warriors upgrade their center position by acquiring Marcus Camby in the trade deadline. Marcus Thornton is taking it's game to the next level, it's all about offense here and shootout. Monta Ellis and Paul will surely dominate each other.

Prediction: Warriors in 7

(2) Image Los Angeles Lakers (55-27) vs (7) Image Utah Jazz (44-38)

Projected Starters: D. Fisher | K. Bryant | R. Artest | P. Gasol | A. Bynum | 6th Man - J. Calderon
Projected Starters: D. Williams | R. Bell | A. Kirilenko | P. Millsap | A. Jefferson

Tough lack for Jazz, they will now face again the Lakers. For the last two years, Lakers always come out the victorious one in their series. But the Jazz team is now different, they've got the so called "Kobe Stopper" Raja Bell, will he slow down Kobe Bryant who's hunting for a 3-peat? Andrew Bynum is healthy and they have a more reliable backup point guard in form of Jose Calderon. Also Pau Gasol is playing very well and may look to make the All-NBA team. Jazz is resilient. Jazz just doesn't have the bodies to stay with the Lakers, Jazz maybe can steal one game but surely the Lakers will round this one easily.

Prediction: Lakers in 5

Image

(1) Image Boston Celtics (60-22) vs (8) Image New York Knicks (41-41)

Projected Starters: R. Rondo | R. Allen | P. Pierce | K. Garnett | S. O'Neal | 6th Man - T. Prince
Projected Starters: R. Felton | K. Azubuike | W. Chandler | A. Randolph | R. Turiaf | 6th Man - D. Gallinari

Celtics finished the season with the best record in the league, and they can gain a home advantage in the Finals if they will make it through. They will face Knicks in the first round. Amar'e Stoudemire is injured and questionable in the series, they do not have a guy like Stoudemire who can stop Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O'Neal in the paint. Celtics will fly off to the second round easy if Stoudemire really will not come back.

Prediction: Celtics in 4

(4) Image Milwaukee Bucks (47-35) vs (5) Image Charlotte Bobcats (46-36)

Projected Starters: B. Jennings | J. Salmons | C. Maggette | L. Mbah a Moute | A. Bogut | 6th Man - M. Redd
Projected Starters: D. Augustin | S. Jackson | G. Wallace | B. Diaw | N. Mohammed | 6th Man - G. Henderson

The Bucks made to the Playoffs like last season, but now they've got Andrew Bogut who's healthy and playing well. Michael Redd is also providing some spark off the bench. But they will face a much improved Bobcats. Stephen Jackson is on the MVP talks because of his spectacular performance this season that also made him to the All-Star team. An injured Tyrus Thomas will not be available in the series, by this, Bucks must need to pound the paint as much as they do to outplay the Bobcats.

Prediction: Bucks in 6

(3) Image Miami Heat (53-29) vs (6) Image Orlando Magic (44-38)

Projected Starters: M. Chalmers | D. Wade | L. James | C. Bosh | Z. Ilgauskas | 6th Man - U. Haslem
Projected Starters: G. Arenas | J. Richardson | H. Turkoglu | A. Jamison | D. Howard | 6th Man - J. Nelson

A star-studded matchup and maybe the most exciting series of the first round. The Heat finished third place in the East that made them to face the underperforming Magic. Simply the Heat is deeper and more talented, but they will not take this series quick and expect Dwight Howard to post monster numbers. They also have Antawn Jamison to match Chris Bosh. LeBron James must not quit the series to avoid an upset.

Prediction: Heat in 6

(2) Image Atlanta Hawks (54-28) vs (7) Image Chicago Bulls (41-41)

Projected Starters: J. Johnson | J. Crawford | M. Williams | J. Smith | A. Horford | 6th Man - M. Evans
Projected Starters: D. Rose | J. Smith | L. Deng | C. Boozer | J. Noah | 6th Man - T. Gibson

Hawks is even better than the Heat, but in the last week of their schedule, Mike Bibby got injured and questionable for the series, even Josh Smith is playing through an injury who insisted to sit it out. They will now play big as they decided to put Joe Johnson as their starting point guard, they also moved Jamal Crawford to the starting lineup. Will this technique work against Derrick Rose and the Bulls?

Prediction: Hawks in 7

Valdis, Well let's see, if I can contain Nowitzki, it is possible.

KidJustin, Thanks for the support! Hope we can sneak in to the second round

Martti., Atlanta Hawks are good actually, but Bibby is still out with an injury, don't know if Johnson playing PG will work out. As for your Heat, probably Magic will somehow give a tough time to them for sure.

For those who like to upgrade their draft stock, predict the winners for the first round. Cheers :)

Thunder drew first blood behind big game from Durant and Westbrook

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Thunder have found somebody who apparently can guard Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavericks need to discover somebody who can cover Kevin Durant.

If nothing changes in these areas, the Thunder might be able to pull off easy win series over the Mavericks.

They got off to a rousing start in their best-of-seven first-round series by shutting down Nowitzki and the Mavericks en route to a 110-91 win.

They won the first game thanks to Serge Ibaka's tight defense on Nowitzki and the Mavs' inability to cover Durant and stop Russell Westbrook offensive onslaught.

In addition to his superb defense, Ibaka had 10 rebounds and three blocks, all on Dirk. He also scored six point. Also playing key roles were Eiji Sawakita (six points and nine assists) and guard Thabo Sefolosha (11 points, three steals).

But their two main talent really carry the Thunder's offense. Durant scored a game-high 37 points and also grabbing nine rebounds while Westbrook racked up a double-double, 32 points and 10 assists. The two young stars murdered the Maverick's defense by non-stop slashing to the paint and converting easy free shots.

For the Mavs, Nowitzki shot a modest 10-of-19 for 22 points, the highest in his team. Troy Murphy came off the bench with 17 points, Jason Kidd had a good all-around game, scoring 15 points, eight assists, grabbing five rebounds and making three steals. Caron Butler and Richard Hamilton had 12 and eight points respectively. Ben Wallace who feel agitated too with Ibaka's defense was held only to five points.

The Thunder were somehow missing Nenad Krstic and James Harden due to injuries. But the first game shows how really flexible the Thunder are. It could be a blessing in disguise for the team, as what Ibaka showed in the first game that he can anchor the Thunder's defense.
