Re: The Knicks Thread....

It would help if the Knicks had a bench. They have a bench made up of Toney Douglas. Their starting line-up of Amar'e, Melo, Billups, and Fields is good but they seriously have no one who has any type of basketball skills other than Toney Douglas. The Knicks are a lot worse than they were before the trade. I've probably said a thousand times, but I'd rather have Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, and Danillo Gallinari over Carmelo and Billups. The Knicks had no defense before the trade, now they have negative defense. And people wonder why the Nuggets are better...

It's still not a bad trade, sure they gave up a lot but call this a "let's see what we can do and then attract free agents with 2 marquee players" kind of a situation. You weren't going to attract much with Felton, Chandler & Gallinari. Just like Denver won't be doing so anytime soon.

The Knicks on the other hand...

...look like crap this season.

If you ask me the Nuggets might be better off in the future than the Knicks. The Knicks have ZERO defense. Which is why I was skeptical when there was talk about Carmelo wanting out of Denver and wanted to play with Amar'e. Two offensively gifted players with mediocre defense. They are both guys who need the ball in order to be effective. If Amar'e and Melo don't meet expectations soon and they just become a high-scoring duo, but they continue losing games like they are right now, only a strong defensive player would sign with them. (Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, Gerald Wallace come to mind.) This is why the Knicks were so much better off with Gallo, WC, and Felt - those three actually play good defense and are a huge part of the Nuggets' success right now. Keeping Ray Felton in New York would have been a better option from a defensive standpoint.

The last thing you'd want to do is put him in an offense that encourages shooting threes.
Gallo... actually play good defense

What.

Yea I was going to say that too. Gallo's defense was worse than Melo and Stoudemire combined. Plus Smith wouldn't even fit in this team. Amare would not play center with Smith and Smith wouldn't be a SF either. You put Smith at SF, and it's a disaster from there on out. But, anyway, I agree with you, Knicks didn't have to make that trade. I blame it on the owner who basically did the trade to put more asses on seats and so he can get more money. Coach Mike is fine he just needs a defensive oriented assistant and a defensive bigman to go along with Amare.

EDIT: lol don't be mean to him, he just isn't open-minded enough and he lacks a little sense, hence the average NBA fan.

Why are people expecting great defence from a team that consists of D-League players(It's not like you see defence in D-league) other than 3 stars, and a team that is coached by D'anton who is like Chalmers(zero baketball iq) in players. The Knicks core is put together for the future. Give them time.

Why you keep on insisting that dumb and I go together when you are the one that is desperately waiting for a brain transplant.

I strongly disagree.
They're simply 1a and 1b.

D-Leaguers? Douglas is decent and Fields does all the hustle work for them. I will even g and say that Shawbe Williams has been playing good basketball with his hustle, toughness, and shooting. But they seriously lack bigmen, they're small as fuck.

No one's expecting great defense, what we want to see is effort. They've shown flashes of it, but it's not consistent.

Your own link, jeffx from few days ago pretty much summed it up well for knicks i though. The coach and bunch of D-league players should be replaced by next season with guys that can complement 3 stars better so the knicks at least can guard a dead body from scoring or at least try to.

For the first time in 10 years the Knicks will finish over .500. The team is currently on a 7 game win streak, beating teams they should beat. They face Chicago on Tuesday and Boston on Wednesday (my birthday) to close the season. I wonder if they could make it 9 straight headed into the post-season?

All I want is a good showing from the Knicks. Realistic fans know they're not winning this series, but make Boston sweat.

Knicks are bringing Chauncey back. Not too thrilled with this move. How about using that money to sign two big men and a servicable point guard? Typical Knicks.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Fri Apr 29, 2011 4:32 am

The Knicks promised Billups (dunno if it's Walsh or Dolan) that they would pick up the option on Chauncey's contract and they did. Consider it a PR move to attract future FA's that management is willing to follow up on their 'promise' to players, especially a veteran like Billups. It leaves a good impression to players should they consider going to the Knicks.

According to the NY Daily News, Knicks are pushing Pringles to hire a defensive assistant coach. I'd make it an ultimatum.

It never fails - players do better once they leave the Knicks. Zach Randolph is playing lights out basketball.

The facts don't lie, man. It speaks volumes about the organization(no matter who's in charge).

WFAN host Joe B had a great line about Corey Brewer. He said the Knicks couldn't use Brewer because he plays too much defense for D'Antoni.

Knicks are interested in Samuel Dalembert. I'm ok with that.

He'd be a fine addition, though I could see him getting lost in the shuffle in D'Antoni's short rotations.
