Framerate Glitch [Please Help]

Hi guys I just purchased a copy of NBA 2K11 and about 10 minutes in I started getting a weird glitch. The framerate drops drastically and the screen kinda flickers. This makes the game virtually unplayable while the glitch lasts.

At first it wasn't so bad and it lasted for only a couple of seconds. But now it happens all the time and it lasts about 20-30 seconds each time, so you can imagine that I'm pretty pissed off.

Anyway I looked online and found a couple of people with similar problems, but no answer.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can fix this?

@karlsanada10 I bought the game on Steam and I'm not sure but it should auto patch it. If you can direct me to where I can find the latest patch that would be nice.

It's an Acer Aspire 7552G-6061. I do have the latest Catalyst drivers installed and Windows updated.

I ran the benchmark and it selected everything on max settings. The glitch happens even if I turn it to the lowest settings.

The problem lies with the hard drives that acer uses in these laptops. I had the same problem with my Acer. The solution is easy.

Download that and disable APM. The random freezing will stop.

I actually thought of the heat being the source of the issue so I got a really nice notebook cooler that should be arriving tomorrow.

EDIT : Sadly it didn't work. I made it through the 1st quarter and it started doing it again.

Have you tried defragging,scanning,etc.?

what is your anti virus?

Did you try what I linked to in my post? Other people with acer laptops have the same problem with other games.

I have an Acer. Acers usually overheat, and i had that problem with my game too. I solved it by getting my fans cleaned and my thermal pad changed by Acer's workshop. Also, u need to download game booster, defrag your PC and you should be good to go.

Same thing, brother, i had exact same problem, it came and go because fans are working 100 %, so they cool off the HDD for a while, but then it overheats again and circle goes on and on. Generally, Acer fan system sucks, they seem to work 100 % only when it is already overheated XD

Ok I'm starting to be able to move once again (I'm never drinking again, for real this time) so I'll format, defrag and tell you guys how it went.

No, I didn't get in any trouble but I have no memory of St. Patty's day, lol.

So I received my cooler and I was able to complete a quick match with no problem and a Jordan challenge also no problem. I think the issue is gone with the extra cooling.
