If the players dislike him that much and laughed when he was ejected, that's telling you something..

The Pistons will always bring me out of my slumber.
Rip32 wrote:Well, as the Pistons' ambassador of the forum, this situation is obviously beyond unprofessional.

The only reason nothing has happened is because of the team ownership situation.

Once they get sold Joe D and Q are gone.

As mostly, always being the other Piston sufferer you're on point, but being me, I'm more pessimistic.

Rip is owed more than $24+ million (he's also got bonuses last I knew), and the Cavs only offered $16 million. Considering the CBA there was no way he was bailing out. Rip doesn't give a shit about contending. He knows he can latch on in two years for the minimum. He raped Joe D for the extension despite being worthless.

Stuckey and Daye pretended they missed the bus, but I don't buy it.

Dumars wants to build a team based on players like him, it won't work without a core, and he's never adjusted. It's why he loves Stuckey. I love Joe D to death but he built the 2004 team because he had a core, and when he started to put pieces back again around 2007 (similar to the 1989-2004 depth) he fucked it up by bailing out. It's time for him to go. And Q and Curry were epic failures. Flip was a god, but Joe D didn't give him crap until 2008 and then canned him.

Joe D IS the problem here. Honestly. The Pistons title was built on people who had "failed" or were "nothing" but Joe D desires veterans now. Troll the D-League, draft, use the cap space. That's how the last title was built.

The 2004 dismantling of the "anointed" Lakers was one of the greatest series of all time. Shaq dominated but the Pistons didn't give a shit, shut down the rest and even threw Corliss at Shaq, the greatest title of most or our lifetimes.

The Pistons, esp RIP, are like the rest of Michigan. They want anything they can get for themselves and don't care how the nation feels about them or where the money comes from.

Did we really have to make this political?

Nope. Just showing how the Michiganers, esp Detroitites, think. I think the attitude of the city is starting to rub off on the team.

Yep, everyone from Michigan and the Detroit area think like that. You're a fucking idiot.

You are right Ryan I did lump them all together, and that was wrong.

He's also right about you being a fucking idiot.

ditto.

Ben's right though, it's Joe D's inconsistency lately that's been the downfall. I think he wanted to literally remake the 2004 team with new guys, throwing a little bit of 89-90 in there as well, and it totally blew up. He did one of the best jobs ever in building the 2004 team, and because of it I think he'll be a GM again in this league, but the Pistons' do need to move in a different direction.

I guess the only luxury is that theres some pieces sitting around, albeit far from great. Stuckey isn't going to get paid by anyone this summer, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Dumars or a new GM bring him back as a SG, Daye and JJ should platoon Tayshaun's starting spot next year, maybe they can sign and trade him for a decent young center? Doubtful. And finally, Monroe should be the power forward for the foreseeable future. The team really does suck less when the kids play, so that's a bright side I suppose.

It just blows that they aren't going to be in position for someone of impact in the draft like they need. Or that Rip's carcass is going to be sitting around too.

I also saw today that everything is all peachy now. Dumars' gave Q a solid statement and Rip and Q talked... it still doesn't help that they're stuck battling the bucks for second worst in the division.

Re: Ugly Situation in Detroit

Here's the thing, this was a team that was ready to move forward a few years back. And Joe D continues to be pretty great at drafting late. Daye, Stuckey, Johnson, Afflalo, aren't stars but they're solid rotation players he's plucked late like he did Prince.

This was a team that was moving towards some cap space when all the 2004 players were ready to move on, Billups, Rip, Prince, etc would have been either leaving or coming back at lower prices. Yet Joe D gave Rip that disgusting extension. I personally would have kept Billups around because the FA class was better the year after than what he got from the Iverson trade and they probably would have made the playoffs again.

Then Sheed, Rip and Billups are either out or back cheaper. While you have pieces like Maxiell, Stuckey, etc. ready to step up.

But no, we waste a year with Curry, then bring in a guy who other than Jerebko can't figure out who to play in any reasonable manner. The Pistons haven't had a standard rotation, even despite the injuries, the entire time. He's changed them every other week.

And all the cap space you spend on one-way players, who the coach can't figure out how to use, and somehow make the team worse on offense. Since Flip had them as a top ten offense during his entire tenure, and even after probably having a BETTER offensive lineup, the team can't crack the top twenty teams in the league.

And Arron Afflalo and Amir Johnson are off elsewhere proving they can play. And the Pistons got...what in return?

Instead the team has spent the last two years relying on Ben Wallace and Tracy McGrady finding late 30's revivals respectively to prevent things from being an absolute disaster.

So McGrady gets benched for two games now. Anybody know what that's all about?

No, four games.

See the video in the OP for more info.

:shake:
He should be gone next season. DET at least was nice enough to give him a chance. Iverson then T-Mac. Who's next for DET?

I don't know, seems he's got a little left in the tank. For another one year deal at the veteran's minimum, someone might take a chance.

Well, they said he had a "headache" in two of those four games he's DNP.

So a beef with Kuester and not practicing hard enough got his ass benched?

A shallow reason, I must say.
