Where's the Pinoy thread now? I didn't know a thread like that existed. When did it exist?

Some things are better left forgotten.

Just outta curiosity...

Coffee or Energy Drink?
Coke or Pepsi?
Blonde or Brunette?
Kobe or Lebron?

Energy drink. I have never liked coffee, like Monster/Mother drinks though.
Hmm... I just had Coke Zero but I thought it tasted kinda watery, so for now I'll say Pepsi
Both but mostly brunette
Kobe. LeBron's better but I prefer Kobe.

Question:

Who's stronger when it comes to national basketball teams, Australia or New Zealand?

Re: Q&A w/ Jae

Wed Mar 02, 2011 1:03 pm

Australia historically, but given their population New Zealand have done a better job of fielding a competitive side. We've had NBA players and our own professional league for a long time but there's like an invisible barrier we can't seem to break through. If we were the size of NZ I doubt we'd even qualify for any major tournaments.

Also, NZ has Sean Marks! :bow2:

Do you know the all-time win-loss record of Australia and NZ?

Nope no idea

It's probably like 80-20 in favour of Australia. New Zealand has only really been competitive with Australia in basketball for just over the last 10 years. Before that Australia regularly beat us comfortably every game. Wasn't until Pero Cameron, Phil Jones, Dillon Boucher, Sean Marks & eventually Kirk Penney came along that we became competitive (and for a couple of years there during Australian basketball lowest of lows, the better team).

So Australia has been dominating the basketball world ever since?

Jae, can you post a screenshot of how the general talk forum looks like from an admin's point of view?

Not exactly.

It looks the same as a regular user. Just with some extra buttons only mods and admin can push.

Fair share of the wins, I must say...

It's an estimate of their overall record against New Zealand, not their recent record against the world.

Yeah it's basically the same. Under the quick reply to the right there's moderator tools (lock topic, delete, change to sticky etc) as a drop-down box and right down the very bottom of the page in small font it says "Administration Control Panel" and if you click that it takes you to the admin panel. Nothing too exciting.

Yeah, I experienced using those tools. It was kinda boring.

Some random questions for ya, Jaesus.

1) If you are to go back to a school, what would you study and why?

2) Sushi or Chinese?

3) What was your first thought when you heard Lebron and Bosh were joining the Heat? What were your thoughts on Payton and Malone joining the Lakers? In general, what do you think of superstars getting together for the better chance at the championship?

4) Jaosming or Andrew? Quick & honest answer. Who was the first person that came to your mind when you read the question? :P

5) Which admin would win the popularity contest if members with 1000+ posts voted?

Re: Q&A w/ Jae

1) Probably do criminal psychology or something like that. It's just interesting to me, and it'd sound impressive if I'm trying to pick up girls

2) Sushi all day

3) Well I was in the basketball black spot known as England when Malone/Payton joined the Lakers so I didn't know it'd happened until mid season, but I didn't like the Bosh/LeBron decisions. Bosh is a no defense playing jump shooting big who thinks he should be treated like David Robinson, LeBron was taking the easy way out and went about it horribly. I really don't like it in general because it gives players who are on contract way too much power. I bet if Deron Williams knew he was getting traded he would have been pretty much trying to force a deal to a place like New York, rather than just being sent to NJ and told to deal with it.

4) First thing I thought of was this black and red jacket I wanted, I'm assuming because their username colours are black and red

5) Probably Jao because everyone knows him in the patching sections. Some of those guys don't even know the rest of us exist. Pdub, Andrew and I would all take votes off each other in the other sections so I think Jao would win pretty easily.

Because you'd know how best to throw off investigations, create fake motives and hide the evidence based on how those before failed?

Oh, wait, confused you with this Canadian fellow I know.

I am not sure what you mean there. Cuz player forcing a trade actually would work out better for the both sides, rather than teams just sitting and losing their superstars like TOR and CLE.

Re: Q&A w/ Jae

Wed Mar 23, 2011 8:05 pm

It doesn't work better because the players dictate the teams they want to be traded to, which completely restricts what the players team can do. Say for instance LeBron's demanded to be traded to the Trail Blazers and they offer Aldridge + Matthews or something. Meanwhile a team like Minnesota are offering Kevin Love, Beasley, Rubio, Wes Johnson and an unprotected pick... that Minnesota package is far more attractive, but LeBron is all over ESPN and the news saying he won't even report to Minnesota and only wants to go to Portland. He's basically handcuffing his team who now have to either a) keep an unhappy player, b) trade him to Minnesota where he might not even turn up and could void the deal or c) just take the Portland trade because they have no other options. It's even worse if a player is expiring like Carmelo because if he had gone on the market there's probably 15 teams who would have made strong offers for him, but he basically said "either trade me to New York or I'll just leave and you'll get nothing" ... he's still under contract with his team, yet he's dictating the terms of a trade.

The players need to toughen up and have some pride. No self respecting hall of famer would do what LeBron or Bosh did in their prime. Players move teams and that's fine but getting together and planning to all sign together was shady, especially considering they gave their teams no indication that they wouldn't re-sign. If Denver got Gallo, Chandler and Felton for Melo imagine what Cleveland could have got for LeBron if he had been honest with them.

You canadiens already forgot what Vince Carter did to force a trade?

EVERYONE NOTICE THAT JAE DENIES MY FACTS ABOUT HIS RAPE AND MURDER SPREE.
JAE BEING A COMMUNIST

I disagree with all of this. Well, probably not. But I can't bother reading this outright Marxist Soviet crap.

Let us first note.

Only the insane, which includes Dan Gilbert, thought LeBron was for sure staying. Melo killed his team for half a year and got them into a bunch of crap offers where they had to head fake another team to get what they wanted out of the Knicks. (Not that hard?)

What could LeBron do? Destroy the Cavaliers while contending DURING THE SEASON? Or try to win that season, get his mom banged by a teammate and say fuck this shit while everyone else on the team was doing their best to kill the title chances.

Players have been doing this shit for ages. McGrady and Hill to Orlando was a decade ago. And they came up just short of getting Duncan. Before that the CBA would not have allowed it openly because of how much it restricted what players could do but everyone from Wilt to Kareem to Barkley got trades to the exact locations they wanted. I could pretty much guarantee you that if every NBA player of the past played under the current CBA and league they'd have done the same shit. WILT-BAYLOR-WEST? Wilt on the Sixers didn't just happen either.

DANNY FUCKING FERRY refused to report to the Clippers. Billy Owens wouldn't play for the KIngs. Glenn Robinson, Jim Jackson, etc. etc. ETC.
If Denver got Gallo, Chandler and Felton for Melo imagine what Cleveland could have got for LeBron if he had been honest with them.

Nothing. What leverage did they have? If he wanted to go to Miami to team with Bosh and Wade, they would have been beyond idiotic to trade for LeBron last season. Would any team in the league reject any sign-and-trade for the best player in the game? I can't see it. It'd leave them in ruins with every player for decades. It's not like LeBron was going to stick around Cleveland if it fell through.

The Knicks got fucked because Melo could see himself losing $50+ million if the trade didn't happen this season. And the Knicks wanted Melo over everything in the world.

Hell, the Nuggets got more out of Melo than probably every trade of a great player prior to 1983. All thanks to the Knicks being complete idiots.

The players did toughen up, and decided to build superstar teams instead of wasting their time trying to win with the rest of the crap out there.

And it's part of why we will have an epic lockout like the NFL.
