::Macca's Chicago Dynasty:(Retirement Updates)::

Postby Macca on Mon Mar 29, 2004 4:50 am

Hey guys,
This is my starting post, so bare with me through this:

I decided a long time ago to start a dynasty with the Bulls, with Pippen being in the team and all. That was months ago. But now it's here, the reason for it been held up: damn school and work, that and playing sport.
But now my time is free, and this will be my 3rd attempt at a Bulls dynasty, (don't ask!!) :? This time I'm going all the way with Pip at the wheel, and Crawford and Davis in the backseat. I would really like to see Pippen win an MVP & a championship, one last one before he retires. So I'm going to sim up the 2003-04 season and from then, I will rebuild the team from management up. (I prefer the management side of things)

Although, I've added a little bit of flavour to the roster. I've added 3 players to each team, those players will be at a team they used to be at & all from different years, but mainly '94 up to '01.
Example: Payton would go to Sonics, Bibby to Memphis, Kidd to Phoenix etc. No retired players will be coming back. I've also made sure that some star players will remain the same, I like to have the teams fair so it purely comes down to how good you are on the court.
The rosters have been updated throughout March too, cause I like it realistic too. So in other words, it's a somewhat retro update of a roster. :D

Anyways, I'll list my settings and team roster for the start of the 03-04 season, next post, and in the next few days I will begin!! I've asked permission from several other people with dynasties if I could borrow a few of their ideas. Also I'm getting my website up soon which will have this dynasty as the main event on it. Anyway, I gotta go to bed now, it's past 4am, so feel free to discuss this and if you have any questions or comments, go for it & I'll get around to answering them.

Cheers,
Macca

P.S. 24 hours earlier I posted for the first time, 24 hours later I have 50 posts!!

Thanks match, 'preciate it. Um, my whole recap will be postponed until tomorrow, and my team and settings will be done tomorrow as well. If anyone is reading this and is bored, fill in the time while I'm away. Recap notes are still been finalized by a team of great skill, in my cat nad his poker friends. (J/K  )
But seriously, tell me what you think guys. Also, a new dynasty will be heading your way to local computers near you. Not his one, but another one including a fantasy draft. That's all I can tell. Anyway, peace.

Did you trade back to teams, like when you sent bibby to memphis, did you put JWill back on the Kings?

Yeah pretty much, I thought about that one first. Other ones are O'Neal For Davis (Por-Ind) and the Marbury + Kidd trade (Nets-Suns) So to answer your question yes, yes I did!

50 posts in 24 hours !!! you are a damn spammer

Well to be honest I don't spam. I had the free time, so I was posting at all threads, and I was replying too, which doubles it the amount.

Thanks guys for your replies. Um, this isn't going so well, but I'm doing my best, and I'll be damned if I let this one go down to the shithole sewer, Latest I will begin will be Friday. Cheers (Y)

I got 4 other people in mine-and my sister is on at 3! hours at a time! My dad is building a network so he has another computer hooked up (which is the one I'm on now.). The only knock is that the monitor is screwed up and it has this green tint to it, so this white screen I'm posting in looks yellow. :x

Guess who's on the other computer......

Hey what's happening team,

Okay, so this isn't off to the best of starts but anyway, I'm back with some updates. I haven't been posting anything due to my basketball road trip the other week. (Congratulations to me for Series MVP. :P ) Then over the weekend, (last weekend) it was my birthday, had a huge-ass party, then a few of days ago, my internet got d/c for while. What a pain in the ass of a week. :x

Anyway, enough about me, I've already simmed up the 03 - 04 season so scroll down and you'll see a news story, the settings and the Bulls roster for the start of the 03-04 season. Then you'll see a link, leading to my temporary internet site which contains monthly recaps of the 03-04 seasons. Like I said before, I'm playing the 2004- 2005 season, I've simmed last season up.
The site doesn't have any images so it's convenient for those slower computers, save you time. It is also long, so you might want to skip to the last page, which is the playoffs/postseason. You must read the playoffs section to know what’s going on. Anyway, back to business, I know match_66 is really looking forward to this so here we go:

Okay now for the start of the 04- 05 season.
Next 2 posts will be about the 03-04 season stuff (small bit) then the start of the 04-05 stuff like draft day, retired players list, trades, management movements, new roster. And also, I will update my website, maybe tomorrow. The after the off season, I will have a news story each day leading up to the first game. (If you don’t get it, wait and see) Anyway, I'll be back tonight with the off season recap, and 'till then, talk more, discuss stuff, PM me for an info or questions or ask here.

Settings:
12 Minute Quarters
Superstar
28 games & 5 game series (there is a story behind this, next post)
Andrew's Rosters + customized by me.
NLSC Slides with a few tweaks here and there.

Whoa, almost forgot the link  :

SEASON 03-04

NBA Daily News
By Scoop Jackson

At NBA Headquarters earlier today, the board of directors, commissioner, and all team owners and general managers, attended an official meeting, concerning several items, including the NBA’s schedule of 82 gruelling games. Commissioner David Stern has recently told several newspapers and magazines, about the NBA losing money and them, trying to resolve it, but with no luck. Today, Commissioner Stern achieved what he’d set out to do early last year. At the board meeting where there was strictly no media allowed, the team of experts, were working on a solution to save the NBA, after its ratings were dropping at seasons end. They all voted on the same solution, making the season shorter, not just for players, but for their families and fans. The problem was addressed and solved in as many as 4 hours. As a press conference was held, several minutes later, Stern told the media; “For years and years we have been losing money, not just in the NBA but also in WNBA. We have gone after over a hundred solutions, but this is by far the best yet. We have had letter from fans, been on NBA forums, read magazines and newspapers, all these things and taken into account their ideas, suggestions. It was either th shortening of the schedule or changing over fifty rules, just to make the game more exciting to fans. Although if this is not right, if it hasn't acheived what we wanted, we will move up to 56 games for next season.” Players have also expressed their appreciation of this new system. The playoff series has also been shortened, back to 5 games. No one in the basketballing community has expressed any objections to this as of late. A closing statement by several GM’s was something that really put this whole idea, into context. “We know that fans don’t want to be sitting at home, game after game, watching to see where their team will end up. A short season is good season. There will be time for all those associated with the NBA for more time to themselves. They work hard, every day to operate their team or this league, and it's tiring, for everyone. The NBL in Australia has a pretty small season, and they have no problems what so ever. They attract a whole lot of people. Even in Europe, it’s happening. We are going to continue to see changes, this wont be the last." Other things addressed at this meeting were, more NBA Stores, bettering arena facilities, even competition between teams, several rules changed and other things. Another meeting will be held in a month, to get an update on progress. My 2 cents on this however is, this will, have a downside to several people. This won't be a battle of strength and endurance, this is going to be one of their quick fixes that won't work. Bringing J.R Rider into the league was another one of their quick fixes, and it didn't work. But I'm not condeming this either. I agree, a quick season is a good one, and also, if this brings more fans, that means better basketball, and more money, including my pay.

Bulls 03-04 Roster:
C: Eddy Curry #2 B.C: Tyson Chandler #3
PF: Antonio Davis #34 B.PF: Jerome Williams #11
SF: Scottie Pippen #33 B.SF: Marcus Fizer #21
SG: Ronald Dupree #20 B.SG: Kendall Gill #13
PG: Jamal Crawford #1 B.PG: Kirk Hinrich #12

6 Corie Blount #43
7 Chris Jeffries #6
8 Linton Johnson #8
9 Eddie Robinson #32
10 Rick Brunson #9
----------------------------------------------------
Season recap:The Bulls welcomed newcomers R. Murray, F. Lopez and D. Miles last season, but that wasn't enough in the Bulls 2nd round elimination in the East Playoffs. Several times they were on top of the East table, but it wasn't to be for "04." Scottie Pippen was one of the only bright spots in the year, winning season MVP, All NBA First Team, All NBA Defensive Team honours, and 2 'player of the month' awards. Antoinio Davis also had one of the best seasons in his career, making new career bests, and matching others. Rookie Sam McDonald aslo had a great season, been named to the 'All Rookie Team' and receiving one 'Rookie of the Month' awards. Curry was also outstanding. The Bulls new coach Scott Skiles was proud of how much progress, they had acheived in the one year, with trades throughout. That was the Bulls of then, what about now...

Chicago Sun- Times
Out with the old, In with the new
By Roman Modrowski

Today the Chicago Bulls Chairman of the Board Jerry Reinsdorf announced that they’ve hired a new GM in, Tim McInerney.
McInerney will be signed on for this year, depending on the results, afterward, will be signed to a minimum contract of up to 3 years, hoping to mould the Bulls into the shape that they were back in the mid 90’s.

When McInerney was asked what he was hoping to do for the team, he simply replied, “I’ve seen the current Bulls, and when I look at them, I see major potential in that team. I see a good foundation to build a championship team on. The team knows there’s going to be changes, and it’s going to be tough at times, but I know, I can turn this boat around, I know we can win, and when we do, we will be complete."

Bull’s management yesterday said that the reason for previous GM John Paxson's sacking was due to the fact that he was not the right chemisrty for the Bulls, and several times, ad little repect for higher members. The Portland trade with Miles and the draft pick was the last straw. Him not attending important games, and meetings, had an effect on everyone.

McInerney wasted no time in rebuilding the team, from management right down to the players.

Hours ago, head coach Scott Skiles was also dropped as head coach. Houstons' former coach Rudy Tomjanovich was brought in. The 2 time champ of the Rockets, was a perfect fit for the profile they were looking for. His health is a slight problem. However, the Bulls management today assured Bulls fans that 'Coach Rudy' would have the best healtcare options available, Chciago owning one of the best hospitals in America.

How this affects the team: The Bulls are lacking team chemisrty, maturity, experince, they need guidance on plays, and the Bulls were out of ideas, until Pippen addressed the board with the idea of Rudy, who coached Pippen while he was in Houston. Rudy will attend the draft, with McInerney this week. Tomjanovich was replaced by Jeff Van Gundy at the start of last season.

At the time of printing, McInerney was dealing with player management issues. McInerney spending all day in his office with Bulls management, while on the phones to several teams and the NBA, unable to talk for an interview.

-------------------------------

Next up, off season of "04." I'm thinking of making trades, so far, Mourning, Van Exel, Anthony, James, Iverson, Gooden, Posey have come to mind. I'm looking for experienced centre, good SG/SF (Iverson, Anthony) also a backup PG, and bench players. Also, next week, my website will have full everything, images, recaps, roster, news, interviews etc. Anyway, I'm going to get this draft on the way, discuss anyhting, the changes made, ask questions, have a good look. I'll post later.

Macca
P.S. @ Mods, if the story is too long, let me know (PM might be best) I'll see if I can shorten them. Cheers (B)

Great to see this dynasty getting under way Macca!

Nice line-up, i take it Pips ratings are higher than usual if he is getting the MVp award.

Good Luck (Y)

BTW what happened to the Rookie Sam MacDonald?

Suprisingly yes. When I installed Andrew's previous roster update, his rating was 80 overall. When I entred the dynasty and after a few games, his rating imensly imroved. But that happened to all my players, during the season anyway, later on. Like Crawford, he started out on 60 something and ended up on 80 by season's end. Pip ended up in the early 90's. I looked around other teams, Iverson was 99, Garnett was 99, Shaq was 99..... whoa. But usually they'll decline during the season.

Great to see this dynasty getting under way Macca!

Thanks match, preciate it. I suppose my run of events has now come to a hold, so I'm free for a while. Expect an update today.

I think the reason that all the players inproved soo much will be the Training camp dbf's cos if you have got edidted ones, some are nt done to accurately and make the players improve heaps.

Look foward to the recaps

Nice lineup. I've also found that Chandler plays well as a backup centre (which is where I've played him most of the time since I acquired KG). I recommend trying Hinrich and Crawford together in the backcourt, I've found that combination to be quite effective. Just don't forget about Hinrich on the bench though, he's capable of great things when given the minutes (so far 11 ppg, 10 apg and 5 spg in the Playoffs).

Thanks Andrew, actually it's Skiles' fault (). He just didn't give quality players much playings time. But with Coach T, Hinrich will be backup PG, with my new lineup.

Anyway, I'm back, my computer has been buggering up on me, but been a 'techmalogical' guy I soon got to the bottom of the problem and fixed it, no files harmed!! :D Anyway, I'll post this afternoon, tonight at latest, and believe me, it was one hell of a offseason for the Bulls, with their new GM. Next also, my website will be updated. For those of you who need the recap, look below for the link. It's only a temporary site too.

Hey guys, it's been a while.

Sorry for no updates over the past month or so, been busy with basketball training and… well you know the drill. Anyway, the off season recap is coming and is here today, and in probably a days time or so, will be a whole draft coverage story, the off season trades and signings, so be watching out for that. Anyway, my soul purpose here to day, (Don’t mind the churchy talk…) as God as my witness, is to resurrect this thread. Now down to the business:

Bulls.com & Chicago Sun Times Exclusive:

Our day here at the Sun Times usually starts with what we call the ‘round table discussion’ where all sports writers, submit their stories to the group, to hear feedback. Afterwards, would be an idea session on what was coming up, and other events. One idea was submitted, and the boss, loved it, and even I couldn’t stop smiling. It was an idea, that there would be a team of 5; 2 photographers, one journo (writer), a backup writer, and a researcher/recorder, to keep track of notes etc. The idea was to follow the Chicago Bulls, every day, exclusive interview that no one else would grab. The idea came from an intern writer, who had talked to the Chairman of the Bulls, Jerry Reinsdorf, who was coincidently, that young reporter’s uncle. So the idea went ahead, after a brief agreement with the Bulls GM, chairman & coach, player personnel and the director of media services manager, among many others, it was all green lights. We stated straight after post season, with retirements all round the league. None of the Bulls were throwing in the towel just yet, but some others, didn’t have their skill they used to, these were the men, who have been around, whether through success or through years of bad luck and injury, and so they deserve credit, for their work.

Retirements: (Big Name Stars in Bold)
S. Augmon ATL 36 K. Malone LAL 41 R. Brown FA 36 T. Massenburg SAC 37 D. Coleman NJN 37 C. Oakley NYN 40 H. Grant LAL 39 O. Polynice FA 39 M. Jackson IND 39 S. Williams DAL 36 A. Johnson SAS 39 K. Willis ATL 42

BULLS OFFSEASON FIRE; BURNING HOT
THE RECAP; the story at hand:

After exiting from the playoffs, the Chicago Bulls were to have said that they let down their fans, their city of Chicago, and the whole team at the Bulls, even those back at Bulls HQ. But whether or not, that’s the case, the Bulls were to look forward, and erase the past. They needed a good off season to rebuild on, especially in the 2004 Rookie Draft, where they had 4 chances at picking up an excellent potentiated rookie. But it would take more than that in making the Chicago favourites win again, and be consistent.” People are confused as to what happened throughout the playoff series, why we were defeated, why we blew our lead in the series. But these things all come down to teamwork, consistency, how hard you play. Lack of experience could’ve also caused a little bit of trouble, sure, but there are so many factors, overall, we don’t know,” Coach Skiles said in a press conference, days after the series. Bulls F, Scottie Pippen said it was teamwork, & that some of the guys, lacked heart. Rookie G, Kirk Hinrich, mentioned that, while their defence was poor, there were worse issues on offence, including inconsistency. Chairman of the Bulls, Jerry Reinsdorf & his team of people, knew the problem & started working on a vaccine. John Paxson, the Bulls GM, admits an average performance report, was let go on Tuesday, 2 weeks before the Draft. The Bulls spent days going over people to fill in Paxson’s shoes, interviewing each candidate. The Bulls needed someone, who had a rare eye for talent, who would bring big names to the team, sign deals, deal trades. One man, stood out. Tim McInerney. On Thursday, 2 days after the firing of Paxson, McInerney was announced as the Bulls new ‘President of Basketball Operations’ General Manager. Reinsdorf declared that this was one of the toughest decisions in his time as the Bulls Chairman, they needed someone good, and he hoped this gamble would pay off. Paxson was having said to accept a deal that made him Special Asst. to Executive V.P. of Basketball Operations, along with B.J Armstrong. He also is back in radio for the Bulls, but as head commentator.

ImageImage
Crawford and Hinrich are 2 young stars on the rise that will help lead the team in years to come.

The new GM, McInerney, had gone to work straight away, rebuilding the team, from top to bottom. He spent half the day in his office on the phone. He met with Bulls board members, and Jerry Reinsdorf, later that day, and spent hours in, making decisions. Our crew didn’t know what he was doing, but we found out later, that Skiles had been replaced by former Rockets coach, Rudy Tomjanovich, a move that would surprise many.
A press conference was held at night, outside the Bulls practice facility. Jerry and GM McInerney announced that head coach, Scott Skiles had been removed, and replaced by Tomjanovich. Skiles had coached the Suns and several others, and played with the Bullets, Magic, and many more NBA teams. Rudy Tomjanovich has been coach of the Rockets since replacing Don Chaney, winning 2 titles while there. The Bulls team, later praised McInerney’s efforts, as, that change brought a whole new hope to the team. With only days until the NBA Draft in New York the Bulls team had to be ready, and prepare. Several hours went in to looking over reports, but they still needed to resign 5 Bulls, but in the end, only 2 were signed, who would hopefully, lead the Bulls, this season.

Jamal Crawford, was signed to a 3 year deal, while Ronald Murray, who was traded from the Sonics last year, in return for Gill and Johnson, was signed on for another 4 years. The Bulls let go of Darius Miles, Lopez, and veteran Rick Brunson. Brunson and Lopez were happy to leave, expecting to be waived, after the Bulls management, hadn’t promised anything, late last season. Miles, meanwhile, was refusing to sign, unless for a period of 6-7 years. The Bulls didn’t have that much cap space to play with, but were hoping to be able to sign Miles, when the whole 29 teams could sign the free agents, a week after the rookie draft.

Crawford and Murray, negotiating with new head coach Rudy Tomjanovich, will have to step up against tough opponants in the coming months.

You make your recaps look so real and it's just like the real NBA. Keep it up because I really enjoy the way you take the time out to do all these things with the pics and everything. :applaud:

Thanks for the Offseason pics! I always found it funny that the Coach is the negotiator in the contract talks and not the General Manager...but then again, I guess we'd have to cyberface our selves and patch us into the website!

Looking forward to another update!
