Four first-round picks, plus Harris and Favors? Wow.

too much cost to me to pull the trigger for NJ...4 first round picks is crazy. Even if they're all roleplayers and not stars or busts. Lopez hasnt been great this year, so why is NJ any better than Denver for 'Melo?

So much for playing hardball leaving the Nuggets scrambling to get what they want for Melo. I'm with Oz though, it's puzzling that Melo would find that a more agreeable situation than the one he's currently in.

so looks like melo's finally gone. he's going to the nets unless the knicks manage to up their offer in thge next week or so. what a genius move on denver's part to go crawling back to new jersey. it gave the knicks the sense of urgency they needed to get the deal done (since they can just wait for melo to become a FA to sign him). supposedly they upped it to felton, chandler, gallo, curry, and (i'm assuming) minny's 1st rounder [who they will get for anthony randolph] for melo & chauncey

Like Groundhog day with all the Melo nonsense. I swear Broussard is just changing the dates on the articles written in September, October, November... I'll take the Melo rumors with a grain of salt.

Can it really be considered crawling back to New Jersey with the rumoured offer on the table? If there's any chance of that deal going down, I think it's more a case of the Nets crawling back to the Nuggets.

well, maybe it's a little bit of both. i think nj legitimately wants to get melo to sell tickets, sell jerseys, stick it to the knicks, etc. but denver is definitely using them like they used the lakers in the ridiculous bynum rumors to get the knicks to act and motivate them to get something done before the deadline.

This is all so stupid. He can sign to whichever team in the offseason. Then the team (probably New York) will not have to give up everything to get him. He'll still have a team when he gets to New York. If New York's giving up Gallo, Felton, and Chander (and maybe Fields as well) for Melo, it's not worth it. They would still be on the team next season most likely, otherwise, Amare and Melo would be the only non-scrubs on the team. A complete two-man show, nothing more. New York would be taking a loss.

Assuming he opts out. The deals are also supposedly dependent on him signing an extension.

i think new york would be stupid to trade the whole damn team to get him, i can understand the nets doing it. i mean they will suck forever still but at least they make jersey sales

A trade to the Nets would also yield a headline of "New Jersey gets Melo, Melo gets new jersey".

You just know that someone somewhere would use it. If they'll use "Bird flies coop" and "Bird comes home to nest" when he finished up as the Pacers coach and came back to be the team president respectively, there's no limit on how low they'll go for a headline.

A LOT of sources are saying online that the Melo to Knicks deal is basically done. Should surface within the next 24 hours. Marc Stein among other reporters are all saying it's a done deal. Melo's agent Leon Rose has been quoted to have said "we are dotting the i's and crossing the t's"....

Now to see the trade that went down and which players are staying and which are going. Rumors have it that the Knicks kept Mozgov.

From what I read, Walsh & D'Antoni were both slightly uncomfortable giving up as much as they did, Dolan must've been listening to Thomas again.

I can understand Carmelo panicking to get a deal done RIGHT NOW because he wants the financial security, but give Melo has been adamant about going only to NY, NY should've just made their initial offer...said k, not interested we'll wait it out.

Good for Knick fans though, I hope it works out for the Garden, it's a shame to see a franchise like NY on its knees because of bad GM'ing for years. Dolan should give Walsh some respect and extend the man's contract.

Currently being reported here:

The Denver Nuggets are close to finally completing their long-awaited trade to send Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

The deal was not done, but an agreement could be reached as soon as Monday night, the source said. The source believes the two sides have proceeded too deep into negotiations to back away with Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline nearing.

The Knicks offered to send Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler and the Knicks’ 2014 first-round pick to Denver. The Knicks would also trade Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who would send Corey Brewer to the Nuggets. The Knicks would receive Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Renaldo Balkman.

That deal's not too bad for the Knicks, assuming Billups is on board with the situation and is willing to play out the remaining year and a half on his contract in New York if need be while they work out their future at point guard. Decent deal for the Nuggets, though I'm sure they'd prefer to have more picks.

Different trade reported here... http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... _To_Knicks

Hopefully this is true, that means we kept Curry and AR, which can be flipped in another deal for role players or a big man like Dalembert.

No matter what though, the trade is complete. We got raped but got 2 legitimate superstars on the team now.

No it wouldn't.

New York will give up Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry's expiring contract, their own first round pick in 2014, Golden State's second round picks in 2012 and 2013, and $3 million in cash.

Randolph and Curry will go to Minnesota.

Going to the Knicks with Anthony will be Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

Andrew I vow to you that when I first put that link up, Randolph and Curry weren't included at all, but I guess then the cap wouldn't make sense so I should've figured that out.

Safe to say that this season will probably go the way it was going to go if we had kept our current players. I do expect A LOT of moves in the off-season by the Knicks. I hope Walsh stays.

its final melo to knicks

http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_17443219

The Carmelo Anthony trade saga is finally over.

The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

A source said the Knicks will send Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry to Minnesota as part of the deal.

I reckon the Knicks gave up too much to get Melo but hey, they got 2 legit stars on the same team now. I guess that kind of star power should attract other players to come in and fill out the roster. I hope that Knicks fans are happy now.
