Re: The Knicks Thread....

That definitely would've been a game worth catching live for a Knicks fan.

Shame he missed that putback on Amar'e's free throw, with the contact and the and-one that would've been a candidate for top ten dunks of the season, or certainly the first half of the season.

That was immensely satisfying.

The first time I'd seen Landry Fields play this year... I get it now.

I'd still have to respectfully disagree with Walt Frazier's assertion that he should be Rookie of the Year though. I think he's a lock for All-Rookie First Team and it looks like the Knicks snared a hell of a player in the second round, but I have to believe Blake Griffin has ROY locked up.

Yeah, it's Blake's to lose, really. Second place is a much more interesting conversation. Fields, Wall, and now Cousins making a very inefficient push.

(Y) Would have been terrific atmosphere down there! Pretty sure TV wouldn't be able to capture it.

Are you a regular down at MSG Jeffx?

Not really. Even during the Ewing years, I went to @2-3 games a season. I'm going to the Laker game Feb. 11th.

The atmosphere at MSG was insane last night, man. Felt like 1992-95.

Knicks owner leaves Walsh in limbo

Pretty disgraceful.

I saw that earlier Andrew. It's insane how Donnie isn't extended yet.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

It boggles the mind but I guess that's Dolan for you. The Knicks still have their issues but they're still more respectable than they've been in years, will have cap space at the end of the season and the job Walsh has done turning things around and setting them up for further opportunities to get better in a relatively short period of time is impressive, especially given the hole the previous regimes had dug for the team. Yet he goes without an extension and his boss remains chummy with the person who ultimately caused the franchise a lot of grief with front office blunders and embarrassing scandals, even soliciting his advice and trying to hire him back. Poor form to say the least.

If Brain-Dead Dolan is seriously thinking about bringing isiah back to this franchise, I'm done.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sat Feb 05, 2011 9:17 am

It seems that Allan Houston is being groomed as Walsh's successor, but it's troubling that Isiah is at least there in the background and still has Dolan's ear. It's extremely disrespectful to whoever ends up with the top front office job after this season, be it Walsh returning or Houston taking his place.

What a disgraceful performance last night. No effort on defense whatsoever.

It's Mike No'D'Antoni coaching them. What do you expect Jeffx?!

I wanted Tom Thibodeau to coach the Knicks so bad. I am so sick of this 'matador defense'. How can you lose to the fucking Clippers? A team that won THREE road games! What's going to happen tomorrow against the Lakers?

And if the players are defensively-challenged, it's up to the staff to TEACH them the fundamentals of team defense. Coach these fools up - hold them accountable for missing an assignment. According to one of the announcers who sat in on several practices, defense is not a priority. Pitiful. I know the Knicks can't play Spurs-style 'D', but make the other team work. Effort, effort, effort.

What's gonna happen is that the Knicks are going to keep attempting the same awful shots, keep playing the same shitty defense, and find a way to win. They play like this every night, but when they are doing good on offense everyone ignores the bad D. Watch them shoot 12/18 from 3 or something and pull of the upset.

That Fields stuff is hilarious, I saw it at the realgm boards. I am debating right now between buying a Stoudemire shirt or a Fields shirt. Crazy how no one recognizes him.

Carmelo Anthony available, but Knicks balk at request for Gallinari, Felton, starter, Curry, pick;

Assuming Melo is willing to sign an extension with the Nuggets after all as recently reported, would you make that deal? I'd probably trade Chandler, I might take a chance on dealing Gallinari if Melo's signed to an extension and that's what it would take to get him, I'd move Curry without a second thought and the pick probably isn't going to be that great. Giving up Felton on top of that is too much in my opinion.

I think what Denver wants is to ensure they get a value player back by trading billups along with melo in just one trade. With just a week left, maybe the Knicks can still a third team into the mix, while keeping felton. Billups though in his mid 30s still holds some value.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:09 am

I overlooked that they'd be getting Billups as well. That certainly softens the blow but Billups has been pretty adamant about wanting to stay in Denver, so we could be looking at another buyout, sit out, re-sign with the old team scenario played out here in which case the Knicks have acquired Melo at the expense of their point guard rotation. I'd still say no deal as long as Felton is involved, it's too much for a player they could potentially sign outright this coming offseason.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

One thing I noticed about Fields is that while he might not always have big games or help the team statistically, he never hurts them either. The guy isn't going to jack up stupid shots or turn the ball over a billion times. Not a big gambler on defense either, really plays in his comfort zone.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Feb 17, 2011 6:58 pm

Field was a great pick for them. At this point I wouldn't call him a star in the making, it's a bit early for that, but I think he'll be a good player that will make people look back and wonder how so many teams let him slip by and into the second round. I'd say there's a bit of that going around already in fact.
