Re: The "Carmelo Anthony Watch" Thread

theyre just using the lakers as a smokescreen. it gives the knicks a false time constraint to get the deal done since the nugs are the only ones (and perhaps maybe melo for the extension before the new cba kicks in) that need the deal done asap.

Depends whether they choose to extend the qualifying offer to Chandler and pick up the option on Bill Walker's contract; if not, they should have around $15-16 mil available which might be enough. Failing that, there could still be a sign-and-trade.

The Knicks should not give up young talent like Fields and Gallinari. When it's February 23rd, and no trade has been done, then the Nuggets will accept this deal.

Fields and Gallinari saved Knicks.

So Now Carmelo Says He’d Consider Staying in Denver, If He’s Not Traded
Why didn't he say that about six months ago? :shake:
Also read somewhere that Billups might come to NY with Carmelo, which means Felton would be on his way out. I did this:  http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4pu3zrd

That trade wouldn't really work. Denver is aquiring too many players.

I know, I put in players into that thing in place of draft picks. The trade machine doesn't do draft picks.

Probably because he's changed his mind about it, assuming of course it's not just a ploy to help the Nuggets get some leverage back and a deal done before the deadline. If he has changed his mind about staying in Denver though, signing an extension now will allow him to secure a bigger payday before the CBA is renegotiated.

You're going to bring an argument from an association thread to here? What the fuck is wrong with you? This is called the "NBA & Basketball Talk" forum for a reason. Don't bring shit from Association to here, mandick.

Anyway, does anyone else think that ESPNNewYork.com is panicking? I've seen 2-3 articles about how Melo should be in NYK.

Perhaps he figured he'd get traded and sign the extension already, and he's not prepared to give up the 65 million with the new CBA on the way, and is thus trying to push something through, not realising that it's now in Denver's best interests not to do anything?

Nah, writers have to write about something and more people want to hear about why Melo should be in NY and not how Wilson Chandler has been mind-fucked by these trade rumors.

If he's that desperate to sign an extension, it's in the Knicks' best interests to get something done now. It was only in their best interests to do nothing when 'Melo wasn't going to sign anywhere other than NY. Now they have to try and get a trade out of a Denver team that should be entirely reluctant to trade him.

No idea what he was trying to achieve by making that intention public, really. Best case he goes to the Knicks, but they have to fork over more players for him and they suck next year.

That's bold, trading two awful players that are on lengthy contracts for Carmelo Anthony.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... melo_Trade

The Nets and Nuggets reportedly have reached a tentative agreement on a trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey.

The deal is pending Anthony's agreement on a long-term contract extension with the Nets.

The trade would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Sheldon Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman to New Jersey, with Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks to Denver.

Will be interesting to see, if it happens.
