How do I turn on the offense?

Sat Feb 12, 2011 5:26 pm

Played two games in Association after downloading the patch, giving up 80 points in each (vs Houston and Phoenix), scoring 60 the first time and 61 the second. I'm playing on Pro difficulty, Sim sliders, Real Player % for field goals and free throws.

After my third game, getting belted by Golden State 89-64, I did some math. According to Wikipedia's formula and my (possibly less than perfect) math, the Lakers of 10-11 have an offensive rating of 62.8. Which is pathetic.

Hardly surprising, though, given that from behind the three-point line, Fisher is 0/13, Barnes is 0/11, Brown is 1/6, Artest is 2/12, Bryant is 1/7 and Blake is 0/2. I'm also bricking layups, Bryant and Odom have shown complete incompetence from mid-range, and I'm averaging 18 turnovers a game between passes not going where I intend and the CPU picking them off at ridiculous rates. I've even had post feeds picked off by the guy guarding the passer, FFS.

I find it hard to believe this is just a bad run. Is it a woefully inaccurate roster (downloaded today), or are there some sliders I should be fiddling with?

post patch I've had issues turning OFF the offense. Seriously I'm getting games that end up in the 50s on 4 minute quarters whereas pre-patch I'd be lucky to break 30.

but again, tweaking sliders to better match the gameplay you want should be the way to go.

Downloaded Albys roster/sliders, restarted the Association, beat the Rockets 81-79. No idea how you're getting all this scoring...

I don't even cheese, but then again, I am playing with default sliders.

Had an 89-87 game, followed by a 96-95 game. Haven't changed anything. Currently, it's the end of the first in Utah, the Lakers lead 16 to 4. Their second field goal was an alley-oop that Pau tipped, enough to deflect it away from the intended receiver and into the basket, so Utah really only put the ball in the bucket once. In an entire quarter. And I still haven't changed any sliders.

Thoroughly confusing.
