Ray Allen is 8 three's away from Reggie Miller for tying the record for most three's in NBA history. He probably won't get it tonight, or the next game, but it's going to happen this coming week.

to Jesus Shuttlesworth.

Ray Ray will probably do a game 2 of 2010 nba finals on us and score all eight tonight.
If not, he'll take about three weeks to get there.

Definitely one of the prettiest shots ever

Much better to watch (even though he is a Celtic...) him shoot than Reggie.

They should have Miller calling the game

Great idea, I can't even imagine how it'd go.

I'd still would have Reggie over Allen on my list. In Reggie's days, scoring came hard. Besides, he was awesome as a focal point of the team. Him destroying Knicks in final seconds of playoffs(8 points!!!) was one of the most exciting game I've ever watched. Never saw it coming and made me realize what Miller time represents...

We're most likely gonna find out.
Allen is two short of beating Miller. Guess what, the Celtics' next game will be shown on TNT, on Thursday.
You know it's gonna happen.

No doubt they'll cut to Reggie as soon as the record is broken. The legendary Wilt Chamberlain provides one example of how one might react to having their record broken:

What record was broken? i don't understand

From memory, the record for most points in a quarter and most points in a half of the All-Star Game.

Won't happen. Hope Ray Ray rains threes tonight. Not just two, but ten.

lol. I recall a break during that game after the record was broken, Wilt was being interviewed and he asked if anyone can lend him a pair or sneakers so he can take to the court and get his record back.

That came before the second record was broken. He was still being fairly light-hearted at that point but subsequent cuts to him as Rice came closer and closer to the second record showed him looking more and more anxious. Good on him for being proud of the record, but it was pretty funny all the same, the NBC crew were having a bit of fun with it.

And the record is tied.
Fri Feb 11, 2011 11:42 am
Just broke it. No word from Reggie yet.
Just shook his hand.
Fri Feb 11, 2011 11:47 am
Classy stuff from both players with Allen going over to shake his hand during free throws and Reggie talking him up afterwards. Great moment.

Changed the thread title. Honestly the whole moment sent chills down my spine, Ray hugging his mom, Ray and Reggie shaking hands, Ray with his family. His eyes were watering up.
Congrats to Jesus Shuttlesworth, a well deserved honor that didn't come without a lot of hard work.

Even better between the quarters, Reggie again, teammates, family, his mom, good stuff.
I gotta say, it is really nice to see someone break a record and properly acknowledge it and want the record rather than the "well if it happens it happens, I just want to win the game." I dont have a specific example of that, I just remember thinking it was really disrespectful for the record holder to say that stuff.
Anyway, touching moment, great stuff, lets go C's.
