so evidently the D-League had its dunk contest on the 14th....
I stayed up till 130 to watch it the other night and it wasn't nearly as good as last years. Cant find videos of it anywhere other than this.....these dunks were the final round.

Shit, that was pitiful...especially from C-Jo. Nice 360-windmill from LD, but rly expected more with both of em.
Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:29 am
The first dunk by LD was nice, the rest were OK but the missed attempts and bad lobs certainly took away from it. A free throw line dunk off the bounce would've been pretty awesome though, shame Johnson couldn't get that to go.

Damn, the assistance from the players sucked....
Especially the one helping Johnson...

I agree , as the announcer said it is obvious they haven't practiced that.

Ibaka dunks from the FT line. First dunk in the vid.
Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:18 am
Fuck Ibaka surprised me

Some nice dunks in that contest.

I'm thinking the only thing that may detract from this year's NBA dunk contest is the format/rules...and perhaps the length come to think of it, since the league can't possibly drop the Shooting Stars event or move it to Friday.

Ibaka with one unknown and a prop dunk while Blake with one unknown and a between the legs dunk...
...Kenny Smith trying to get some.
Don't bother reading the YouTube comments, it's mostly about the cheerleaders holding the cards.

can we let shannon dunk one more time?
Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:15 am
no
Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:22 am
just watched the coaches thing....those were really dumb, but in McGee's he made mention that there are no rules this year which makes me a lot happier. Restricting players to use a teammate was dumb.
However the "Watch then Vote" shit is still showing up so fan voting will return.
Wed Feb 09, 2011 9:59 am
That at least is some good news. In most cases, it was a waste of an attempt to force players to use a teammate. Judges in the first round and fan voting in the finals just isn't right though, especially since the voting begins before any of the dunks in the finals have actually been attempted. Hopefully it won't matter, the contest will be fun to watch and a deserving winner will be crowned, but it does mar the event a little.

at least we are going to get one really good NBA sponsored dunk contest this year
http://teamflightclub.com/profiles/blog ... share_post(last year's highlights is the video on top, this year's contestants are down a little bit)

To be honest a lot of those dunks, while nice, weren't markedly better than some of the good ones we've seen in the contest in recent years. Air Up There's two dunks were crazy though, the 360 between the legs and 360 under the rim for the reverse...that's the kind of stuff I want to see.
Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:13 pm
on nba tv tonight, they interviewed blake after the clippers won and kenny smith said he has dunks that has "never been done before". i will believe it when i see it

Did you watch the videos below the top one?
Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:48 am
I didn't, I was just commenting on the highlights from last year's contest.
Fri Feb 11, 2011 1:04 am
ah, I wanted to call attention to this year's participants, but without embedding
Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:25 am
at least "Dawkins" "brought in" Just Fly for Derozen
I mean these are really lame......and setup, but I really hope Jus Fly did rub off on Derozen.
Sat Feb 12, 2011 1:13 am
The cartwheel dunk was lame, but I think if he dunks it with his legs on the swing one, it will be better. As long as he let's go of the rim with his hands. I won't ever expect to see that, since he would probably break his neck.
Sat Feb 12, 2011 1:22 am
notice how they cut the cameras before the 2nd attempt, he probably did fall
Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:56 am
all Demar learned is he aint got shit on Jus Fly
Sat Feb 12, 2011 4:00 am
man, as much as I like the swinging one, it is dangerous as hell. hope he doesn't do it, unless he really practices it.

For any Blake Griffin fans, may I direct your attention
HERE. We came up with a cool way to support him this weekend for the Dunk Contest...
