NLSC's Unofficial NBA Awards 03-04 ::: Results are coming...

Mon Apr 05, 2004 5:37 pm

Here is the shortlist for each award. Before they are introduced....I need to explain the next step.

Basically, it's my unofficial voting process. Each award has five shortlisted candidates due to your responses (thanks to those who replied) and this is how I want people to vote.

HOW TO VOTE

-For each Award, you are to pick your three picks for the award

-Give each player a 1, 2 or 3 next to their name

-These are the values of each number:
1: First place votes are worth 3 points
2: Second place votes are worth 2 points
3: Third place votes are worth 1 points

-Only three players may be selected

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the candidates:

Most Valuable Player

Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Jermaine O'neal
Shaquille O'neal

Assuming I understand the guidelines Sit has set regarding these awards, you can't vote for Kobe as he's not one of the five players shortlisted for MVP.

I want to play.

Most Valuable Player
1. Kevin Garnett
2. Tim Duncan
3. Pedja Stojakovic (even though he's not on the list)

Defensive Player of the Year
1. Andrei Kirilenko

3. Ben Wallace

I'm leaving off number two since he isn't on the list.

Most Impoved Player of the Year
3. Ronald 'Flip' Murray

Again, leaving off people who should be there. Zach Randolph and Michael Redd didn't improve this year so I couldn't vote for them. Erick Dampier is having a fluke year as he plays for a contract. I don't see improvement in Mark Blount other than he was given a couple more shot attempts. And Carlos Boozer doesn't get to be in the top three because it's my list and I can cry if I want to, cry if I want to.

Sixth Man
1. Antawn Jamison
2. Bobby Jackson
3. Earl Boykins

Easiest one yet.

Rookie of the Year
1. Dwyane Wade
2. Carmelo Anthony
3. Lebron James

I give Wade the nod because he's the only one that can actually shoot and play defense. Plus, he stepped into the hardest position to play and has been no worse.

Coach of the Year
1. Jerry Sloan
2. Terry Stotts
3. Rick Carlisle

It'd be nice to see Sloan win it. Terry Stotts gets a nod for being the longest running Eastern coach and for having those Hawks be so totally awesome. Thus, I write him in.
