Dec 12th-18th 2010It was a busy week in the Association which saw a coaching change , a ton of players sent down to the D-League , some nail biting victories and some heart breaking loses and some rumours to boot.
The
Clippers owner Donald Sterling informed the league this week that the team will part ways with new coach
Vinny Del Negro after the team started the season with 8-17 record and despite loosing
Blake Griffin for 3 weeks the team lost 8 straight resulting in Del Negro's firing, he will be replaced by 1st year head coach
Albert Bowman .
The nba handed out there player of the week awards to
LeBron James for the 2nd straight week of the East and to
Kobe Bryant of the West.
Lebron's Miami Heat went 4-0 with James averaging 31.5ppg 8.75rpg 7.5apg - best performance 39 points 12 rebounds 8 assists vs Wizards.
Kobe's Lakers are on a 19 game winning streak with Bryant leading the way this week to a 4-0 record averaging a whooping 37.5ppg 6.2rpg 8apg 2.9spg - best performance 47 points 5 rebounds 6 assists 8 steals vs the Nets.
The D-League came into use this week as 19 players were sent down to put in some extra work and none other than our very own
Andy Rautins who will be spending a couple of weeks with
Springfield Armor and has already made an impression with his shooting touch in 4 games averaging 9.5ppg 4.7rpg 3.5apg shooting 44% from downtown with his best performance coming in a win over the Austin Toros to the tune of 16 points 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Other noticeable players to go down this week are
Greg Monroe , Jeremy Lin , Donte Greene , Ryan Anderson , Brandon Rush and DeAndre Jordan.
D-League player of the week has to go to the Magic's Ryan Anderson who in 4 games is averaging 24.2ppg 7.5rpg 2.2apg 1.3spg.
In this weeks injury report the Spurs have being told that they will be without
Antonio McDyess for the remainder season due to a broken patella , "Dyess" had played in 23 games this season averaging 5.5ppg and 9.6rpg.
Jameer Nelson is also due to miss time after braking his hand taking the ball hard to the basket vs the Sixers in the Magic's 101-79 victory at home, Nelson had played the 1st 10 minutes of the game scoring 4 points and dishing out 2 assists when it happened.
The
Knicks will also welcome back
Bill Walker after missing 6 weeks with a broken ankle.
The word on the nba street is that Kings are looking to make changes to there front court making it clear that
Carl Landry and
Samuel Dalembert are available while its also being reported that the Lakers may be willing to part ways with Ron
Artest with a possible move to the Pistons of all places.
