MLB 10 is the game of the year.
NBA 2K11 had a lot of good ideas and features, that if executed correctly, would have made it the game of the year. But the features were not executed.
It's amazing to play as Jordan against the Lakers in that first championship series. That is until you realize the Lakers never use their bench players and neither team runs plays.
Reviewers don't play beyond a cursory glance, however. They don't realize that half way through a Jordan challenge game the little problems add up to destroy suspension of disbelief.
MLB 10 isn't perfect, but the modes it has are well executed and the baseball game it plays is a better experience baseball-wise than the basketball game 2K11 plays is basketball-wise.
The game the Czar described was amazing. But the way the game plays with teams not running all those plays, and not changing up (making decisions) who to guard or what option to take away, doesn't live up to that hype. The game the Czar described is game of the year. The actual game is very good, but not game of the year.
