Rondo Will Miss 'Weeks' With Sprained Ankle

Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:50 pm

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will miss a couple of weeks due to a sprained left ankle, according to president of basketball operations Danny Ainge.

Rondo rolled his ankle in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's 118-116 victory over the Knicks.

"Rajon, I think, will be out for a couple of weeks, anyway," Ainge said, according to WEEI.

"I think that Rajon is young, and he heals fast and he loves to play, to his credit. I couldn't believe he was back on the court last night. He wasn't moving very well, even when he got back out on the court. You could tell he was still in a lot of pain, and certainly after the game it started puffing up. This morning there was a lot of swelling, and he definitely needs some time off."

Nate Robinson will start in Rondo's place.

With the way Nate has been playing with the first unit it may not be something they cant handle. Why does rondo have anything to do with them handling dwight? the frontcourt's still intact.

no i don't mean "Dwight" i mean their team The Orlando Magics Sorry for the misunderstanding

Nate can explode and give the celtics a huge lift

Big baby play clutch today hitting big shots to put the game away thats what BBD got to do since both O'neals are injured

and with the light schedule ahead i expect C's to rack up W's

I just think the Celtics are much more vulnerable without Rondo whom I think is their best player. They still should be a good team though.

Just can't wait to see healthy Celtics VS healthy MIA/LAL/SAS late in the season or in the playoffs.

The Celtics are great even without three of their centers, and they even played great with Nate Robinson instead of Rondo yesterday. Rondo out for a few weeks isn't a whole lot to worry about. Nate has shown improvement this season, and Glen Davis is stepping up real nice, I want him to start at C instead of Semih Erden, although Erden is playing quite well too.

It may hasten the end of their winning streak, but their upcoming schedule isn't too rough. Obviously it hurts the Celtics to have him out for any length of time but seems it'll only be a couple of weeks, so it's probably a moderate sprain. It's a blow, but it's not all doom and gloom at this point, even with a few Celtics sidelined right now.
