Koberulz' point is a good one though, you win by running away which is supposed to be one of the things the cage is preventing. I guess we're supposed to look it as the wrestlers being thrown into this harsh environment with the ultimate goal of being able to survive it and get out of there, the victor being the one who can pummel their opponent so badly they can't get out or stop the other person from getting out and there's where the brutality of it is.
For cage matches that end via pinfall or submission, it's more a straight up representation of the "nobody gets in, nobody gets out" concept of the cage. There's no breaks by going to the outside, no picking up weapons from around the ring. The wrestlers just fight it out in the cage until one of them is pinned or submits. You don't have the drama of the escape win condition, but it still makes sense.

the whole Tara Mickie stuff was all about how they've been brawling non-stop over the past month or so everywhere in the arena so having a pin cage match made sense, to contain them. Good blow off to that feud too.

In theory, to keep the heel from running away, possibly also retaining his title by way of countout loss, or to prevent interference that has involved itself in prior matches between the two competitors, particularly if one or both are in a stable of some sort.
Of course these days, between Hell in a Cell doing the exact same thing far better and the rampant misuse of gimmick matches leading to cage matches that
don't actually have a purpose, that's not so much of a consideration these days.

Ive been watching and somewhat paying attention to Raw lately. So

to them. I don't know what is keeping me interested right now but I'm watching and am entertained by what I'm seeing. (fuckin' Arquette)

The Miz Girl winning a Slammy was a nice touch, though it makes you wonder whether that was a setup from the beginning.

HBK with a tron appearance!

I really hope it was more of a the girl's family tracking them down or something about her being on TV. IMO they are doing a really good job of the Miz being heel. I just hope they have him wrestle instead of run like Sheamus' runs.

I need to stop reading this thread on Tuesdays.

Yeah, thought about that when she appeared on the tron during the Miz's first promo after it happened. A photo from one angle, video from another, if I recall correctly. Seems unlikely to happen accidentally.

Sorry about that, should've used the spoiler tags.
It could be something that's just worked out well, they happened to capture her reaction and after it became a bit of a meme they decided to run with it. It's difficult to shake the feeling that she could very well be a plant and her family is connected to the WWE though.

i did like the announcement of the women's table match. right when they announced it i knew it was in reaction to the tna cage match. should be a good match though. all 4 are good workers in the ring.
and i really thought wade was not going to bring cena back, get kicked out, and then bring cena back and team with him to take out nexus

IMo they should have shown TNA up by having it be a TLC match, but I guess climbing ladders and hitting each other with chairs is a bit much
Wed Dec 15, 2010 5:01 pm
yeah when they were announcing it, i was saying it along with cole but he stopped at tables, i went on with ladders and chairs match but they obviously didnt agree with my idea. there's a ladder match on the card (shaemus & morrison) that's not for a title which i find odd, but that should set the precident to allow the women to do TLC for no titles. but i guess they didnt want to put the women in that much danger so they settled for only tables since it involves only one woman risking herself.

Think about the children Jao! Think of the children!

A ladder without something on the line is odd. Women's table match is surprising but I think it won't have someone going over the table lol. Wasn't Lita on one TLC match?
Only having one TLC match is weird.
Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:09 pm
Presumably they'll come up with something to put on the line in that match. Something of some significance has to be suspended above the right for a Ladder Match to in fact be a Ladder Match and not just a no DQ match where a ladder happens to be one of the weapons.

I thought the stipulation was a #1 contender contract for the WWE title. I remember something about Sheamus being pissed that he has to defend his KOTR #1edness
Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:34 am
yeah i really don't know. i skipped that part of raw
Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:15 am
Quite right, I just checked and it's over the #1 Contendership.

So the one that is hanging on the ladder is a briefcase?
Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:30 am
Apparently it's changed and Rey and ADR are now a part of the TLC match for the World Title.
Sun Dec 19, 2010 8:05 am
i would imagine that was done to protect rey and his injuries

probably, but its been done with nothing but a clipboard and paper before
Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:36 am
sooo Edge, eh?
Any good matches worth watching for those who saw it?
Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:57 am
evidently Sheamus Morrison was Ramon HBK esk. The diva table match I heard was good and evidently there was a cool spot in the Cena match. I didnt get to watch it (remembered at ~11:15) but overall I guess it was a pretty entertaining PPV.
Tue Dec 21, 2010 6:03 am
You gotta love how pointless the Cena getting fired storyline now looks/looked.
