Like The Simpsons before it -- and unlike Family Guy and other popular animated series that came later -- Futurama has successfully balanced its laser-sharp satire with compelling pathos. Especially in "The Luck of the Fryrish," said Cohen.

Finally caught the season finale (and 100th episode). Enjoyed the meta-humour about the 100th milestone and the story was pretty good too. I had a feeling Mr Astor was going to show up at some point (and be a mutant) and he provided an all too convenient but still fairly amusing means of restoring the status quo with Fry's appearance.

On the whole, I've really liked the new season and hope they're able to run at least a few more seasons while maintaining the quality. I think most of us that watch Family Guy have similar feelings about its revival, at least after the first couple of post-revival seasons and I'd hate to see Futurama head down the same path...or sink to the depths that The Simpsons eventually did (and still finds itself in outside the occasional gem/decent enough episode). Futurama's still got territory to explore and science fiction concepts to utilise and satirise though, not to mention its writing is sharper than Family Guy's ever was, so I'm optimistic.

The Futurama Holiday special they aired a few days ago was hilarious, was basically a "tales of Interest" Holiday-themed episode.

Wasn't aware of that, will have to check it out.

Checked it out and I'd have to agree, pretty funny stuff. Loved Al Gore's appearances and the running gags with Gunderson's Unshelled Nuts and the crew getting killed off in each segment.

Anyone want to pick a top five for the season thus far?

and a tie between Clockwork Origin & Attack of The Killer App (which i liked even though it wasn't really futurama-like in my opinion but the concept of the EyePhone was hilarious)

a lot of the episodes seemed like filler episodes i still haven't caught that holiday one, but i have it set to record on the dvr tonight. btw, which episode was the one with the white plains, ny joke where they are all on white planes?

Second half of the season is about 38 hours off. Two episodes will air.

I've decided to go ahead and make this the Futurama thread. It's a fairly boring rename so if there are any suggestions for a more creative title, perhaps based on the tag lines during the Futurama intro, feel free to pitch them.

Agreed, loved them both. The ending of Neutopia, from Hermes' "Your manwich!" through the calendar shoot, was disturbingly hilarious.

Always nice to see the robot devil

Not as good as the two eps last week in my opinion, but still fun. I agree that the Robot Devil is always a highlight.

I like his reference to Fry taking his hands once

Really good episode though IMO, up there with the first two of the season

Last week's episode (where Fry became a cop) was hilarious, maybe one of the funniest they've ever done. Not a bad twist in the story as well, probably should've seen it coming but enjoyable nevertheless. Funny appearances from Roberto and the Hedonism-Bot, as usual.

I told JaoSming before, I've wanted a lot of this half of the seasons episodes to be an hour long.
