Numbers aren't everything; you need to take into account each player's special move.
That Kobe Bryant 'focused staring' face strikes fear into opponent's hearts. Lebron can't do that, all he has is chalk throwing.

Ok, I realize this is a thoroughly retarded thread, but I really have to question this statement. Are you implying that Wade and Bosh are better than Shaq was in his prime? Cause that's just fucked.
Mon Nov 08, 2010 7:45 pm
No, I was just saying that if LeBron gets a ring, it would be because he had the help of Wade and Bosh. That's all there is to it.

actually guys, its kind of hard to say who is better, considering kobe is slightly past his prime and has accomplished so much already, and lebron is still a young buck with years of potential championship runs ahead of him even once kobe retires. its as silly as the arguments back in the 80's about jordan vs magic, or jordan vs bird.
of course magic and bird are better than MJ because they have more nba titles... if the year is 1990 still...
where is the logic in that?
are we talking about a player's stats? on very different teams? with different chemistry? different players who specialize in different areas? with different coaching strategies and playbooks?
it took MJ 7 years to get a championship yes? did the bulls aquire players to compliment jordan's game so that they could win titles? hell yes! Pippen? Grant? Rodman? Jud Buechler? ok, just kidding on that one...
did kobe land in a good situation early in his career? with shaq in his prime? hell yes! did kobe struggle when he didnt have great role players around him? yes! did kobe and the lakers start winning when the right pieces started coming together? yes!
did lebron make the right choice? who knows. only time will tell, but to fault him for wanting to win by joining 2 other allstars... when kobe, still paired with shaq, enlisted malone and payton and couldnt get it done... and then got gasol and artest on his team and then did get it done...? oh i get it, wade and bosh are young.... so were pippen and grant.... except nobody knoew how good those two were yet...
the point is basketball is a team game. the only way to tell for sure if kobe or lebron is better at this point, would be to trade them, straight up for each other and compare thier numbers for each team, and if they won a title or not. not gonna happen of course.
they play different positions for one thing. kobe is a sg, lebron is a sf
kobe has more ways to score, more moves for getting open, better handles
kobe is a better perimiter defender, he puts you in a phonebooth and says "dribble your way out"
lebron is more athletic at this point and thus makes more "spectacular" offensive and defensive plays.
lebron is more likely to gamble on defense to get the block or steals.
kobe has a killer instinct and is clutch
lebron hasnt yet developed a killer mentality, but can still be clutch
kobe is more selfish, but has learned to trust his teammates more. he's more like jordan mentality than magic mentality...
lebron is less selfish with the ball, he's more like magic than jordan (mentality), but with a skillset to rival both in thier youth.
lebron gets more rebounds due to his size and athletic abilities and because he can play every damn position on the floor.
kobe is a pure shooting guard, its not his role to go after rebounds as much as lebron does and doesnt have the frame to go and bang on the inside with the big guys.
they both play at a high level. they both excell at different aspects of the game. save this argument for when both careers are finished.
everyone is entitled to an opinion, but mine is that its still too early to tell, and its all up to lebron really. kobe has solidified his legacy already and has a few years left to add to it. lebron has a decade or more left to prove himself. give it a rest.

Nice work bumping the thread up Lebron.
Michael Jordan said Kobe is better. End of Argument.

I wouldn't put Lebron in same category as Kobe as this stage.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:19 pm
Yeah, he's a lot better than Kobe ever has been.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:32 pm
I really would have enjoyed that video about Kobes defence if I didnt feel like I had cataracts watching it..

Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:08 am
We can also say,
Who is better MJ or KB
The difference of the two, one is a Black Mamba and the other a King

so a King without his ring(s)
....anyway for me is, both are great player with Power and that's enough.
Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:19 am
Even though I hate the Lakers, Kobe is monster.
Don't compare Kobe and MJ yet... Okay?
Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:36 am
Even if Kobe wins his 6th ring to tie Jordan, Kobe still has things to do to even be equal with MJ.
Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:50 am
If lost Miami Heat with King James against Indiana Pacers, then you know already who will champion

Kobe

I actually had a guy tell me, in all seriousness, that even if his talent level didn't change, LeBron would be a better player this year than he was previously if the Heat win a ring. I'd say that disproves your argument.

So you were watching ESPN. Big deal.

Charles Barkley ranked Kobe Bryant as one of the Top 5 Greatest Players regardless of position. End of Argument.
Thu Nov 25, 2010 2:05 pm
Of course, Charles Barkley also claimed that God wanted him to win the 1993 championship, which points to either God hating Sir Charles (plausible, since apparently God hates everyone but the Westboro Baptist Church) or Michael Jordan in fact being God as once opined by Larry Bird.

I'm both a Kobe and LeBron fan. But whenever these two are being compared, you guys are always bringing up "Kobe has a ring" and all those shits. For all we know, championships are a team achievement, not an individual one. One example of an individual achievement is the season MVP where Kobe only managed to win one in 2008 in his 14th year in the league while LeBron already has two of 'em when he's only playing seven years in the league.
Give LeBron some time, and by that, give the Heat some time, they're a bit of a disappointment so far but we all know that when they pick their games up, they can be a real pain in the ass and will surely win a title one way or another. Peace

Always bringing up "LeBron is a two-time MVP" and all those shits. For all we know, the award is given by media where the voting maybe subject to their bias.
