Re: Road to Glory II - Chicago Bulls Season Preview

I agree. I like the realism here. I don't like Hinrich starting at SG. You gotta upgrade!

Yea, good thing about the trades is that it becomes more realistic. Thanks man :)

Well, he comes off the books after this season so i'll find something in free agency...doesn't look like i can get much via trade right now

Gah, stupid posting error, anyway wont rewrite it all but in short, loving the realism of your trades, most times the team trading the superstart gets shafted in the trade yet you still managed to get useful assets in return. I personally like your roster more now anyway. If Wade wanted to join in the LeBitch antics then let him is all I have to say, Rose if your present and future franchise piece anyway.

Rose leads the way as Bulls clip Hawks in Opener
Image

Atlanta, GA - The Chicago Bulls have (again) made a lot of changes in the off-season.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Bulls' ability, and tendency to beat them has not changed.

Led by Derrick Rose's 26 points and 6 assists on 12 for 19 shooting, the Chicago Bulls take down the Atlanta Hawks at the Philips Arena in their season opener for a 98-91 victory.

New comer Carlos Boozer added 21 points and 8 rebounds while his front court partner Joakim Noah dominated in the paint with a 10 point, 16 rebound and 3 block double-double performance.

"He (Boozer) was great" said Rose "We can just dump the ball inside and play off of him. He definitely helps us out a lot"

Kyle Korver dropped in 12 points and off-season signing Shaquille O'Neal chipped in 7 points and 6 boards in 9 minutes of playing time.

The game also marked a double return for Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich, as he debuts for the Chicago Bulls for the second time in his career, and also returns to Atlanta for the first time since being traded back to the Bulls in the off-season.

Hinrich was given a warm welcome by the Atlanta fans but he would stuggle from the field and end up with 8 points on 3 for 12 shooting.

The Hawks were led by Mike Bibby, who had 22 points and 10 assists in 27 minutes of playing time, and former Bull John Salmons. Salmons added in 23 points and 6 rebounds on 8 for 15 from the field.

Joe Johnson had 19 points and 6 assists while backup point guard Jeff Teague dropped in 12 points in 17 minutes.

Today also marks the NBA debut of Argentinian swingman Thierry Tirieux of the Atlanta Hawks. He came off the bench in the third quarter and played for 6 minutes. He was 0 of 1 from the field, had one rebound and did not score.

Tirieux was the 29th overall pick by Atlanta.

"Well, we just want him to play some minutes here and there" Hawks coach Mike Woodson "He's a project and we'll continue to develop him"

The Bulls, who lost key players Dwyane Wade and Josh Smith in the off-season due to chemistry issues, look determined to show that they can win without them.

"Definitely, I think there is the motivation factor there" coach Bryon Scott said "When you get thrown under the bus like that, and get betrayed like that, you'll want to prove them wrong too"

Chicago will host Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in their season home opener on October 30th.

Estonian Martti Must stellar in debut for Rockets
October 28th, 2011

Rookie forward Martti Must did not disappoint the Houston Rockets as he had a respectable NBA debut in the Rockets' 90-83 victory over the Indiana Pacers earlier this evening.

Yao Ming led the way for Houston with a 29 point, 21 rebound performance.

Must had 16 points, 3 rebounds and a block shot in 18 minutes off the bench, he was 5 for 11 from the field, 1 for 3 from beyond the arc and nailed all 5 of his free throws.

Drafted 25th overall by the Houston Rockets, the 6'9" power forward from Arizona is the second Estonian ever to play in the NBA.

Flashes of potential shown by Ocho in career debut
October 28th, 2011

The 7'1, 288 pound giant from Sudan was the 13th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He was projected to become the next dominating center in the NBA prior to the draft. After tonight's performance, a conclusion can be reached.

He's not there yet, but he will be.

Playing in limited minutes off the bench behind Spurs' offseason addition Greg Oden, Octavius Ocho had a solid 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist on 2 for 3 shooting in his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks.

Unfortunately, the Spurs came up short, 80-85.

However, Ocho had clearly outplayed the guy he's playing backup for, as Oden had just 8 points and 6 rebounds in 28 minutes of play and was clearly affected by a twisted ankle from the preseason.

Solid debut for Washburn as Heat tops Celtics in opener
October 28th, 2011

Washington alumni Liam Washburn showed why he was the 17th overall pick tonight, as he put in 13 points and 6 assists to help the Miami Heat defeat the Boston Celtics, 104-95 in their season opener.

Washburn made the fans quickly forget about former starting point guard Mario Chalmers in his 30 minutes of play. Chalmers was traded in the offseason to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 6'3" point guard was 5 for 13 from the field and a perfect 3 for 3 from the free throw line. However, the former Huskies star striked out on all three of his three point attempts.

Dwyane Wade had 20 points, 10 assists and 5 steals in the victory while newcomer Josh Smith dropped in 7 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks in his Heat debut.

Rookie Will Sit shines in NBA Debut as Blazers sneak past Nuggets
October 28th, 2011

Yes, he is cocky; and perhaps he needs a haircut badly.

But you can't deny the kid has game.

Blazers rookie Will Sit took center stage in tonight's game as he poured in 26 points and dished off 5 assists in Portland's 103-101 season opener victory against the Denver Nuggets.

Sit was 11 for 24 from the field and 1-5 from three, he shot 3 for 7 from the charity stripe. The rookie gave the Blazers a 2 point lead with 23 seconds left with a 17 foot fadeaway jumpshot that was heavily contested. Portland will proceed to win the game as Tracy McGrady's shot at the buzzer rolls off the rim.

Brandon Roy led the Blazers with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

A 6'4" guard out of North Carolina, the Australian Born Chinese Will Sit was taken 14th overall by the Trailblazers in this year's NBA Draft.

Rose, Bulls top Heat, spoil Wade's return in home opener
Image

Chicago, IL - Dwyane Wade was caught off guard, completely.

Coming into tonight's game, and given how they had an ugly split after just one season, Dwyane Wade expected the Chicago fans to boo, heckle, and insult him any way they can. He had even specifically called up Vince Carter to learn to deal with it.

Instead, the Bulls fans decided to give him a different look.

While cheering loudly on for the return of Josh Smith, who was traded alongside Wade to the Miami Heat in a three team deal last season, the Chicago fans literally ignored Wade's presence completely. The announcer introduced him in a typical monotone, and there was no specific boos directed at him throughout the game.

"It just went silent whenever I had the ball" said a somewhat puzzled Wade "I didn't expect that"

Whatever it's intentions were, it was for the better of the Bulls, as Wade was held to just 15 points on 13 shots, and was forced to become a distributor. He did have 13 assists for the Heat but also turned the ball over 4 times.

Josh Smith's warm reception didn't exactly help either, he only took 4 shots and finished with a statline of 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks, limited to a mere 28 minutes due to foul trouble.

In short, a recipe for disaster for the Miami Heat.

Rookie Liam Washburn stepped up his play and led the way with a career high of 21 points on 9 for 17 shooting from the field, including an impressive 3 for 6 from long distance while Michael Beasley added in 19 points and 11 rebounds.

It just wasn't enough.

Behind another stellar performance by Derrick Rose, who took home player of the game honors after 26 points and 7 assists on a near-perfect shooting night, where he went 12 for 15 from the field and 2 for 2 from the free throw line; the Bulls took home a 107-94 victory in their home opener of the 2011/12 NBA season.

Carlos Boozer added in 23 points and 9 rebounds in his home debut while Joakim Noah chipped in a double double of 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks on a perfect 5 for 5 from the field.

Kyle Korver added 13 points off the bench and fellow sharpshooter Anthony Morrow had 8, both shot over 50% from both the field and beyond the arc.

Both teams were on fire on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 55% and 58% respectively, but the difference in the game came on the boards, where the Bulls outrebounded the Heat 35 to 24, including a 7 to 1 advantage on the offensive glass.

"Second chance opportunities, we lost due to that" said Erik Spoelstra "They had more effort, period."

The Bulls are now 2-0 to begin the season.
