Miller Time with Eric Gordon, Part I
Clippers Shooting Assistant Reggie Miller has shown a great interest in the 3rd year shooting guard from Indiana and has been seen training him the most. Gordon moved off the ball well and continued to be wide open in almost each possession in route to his record breaking 9 3 Pointers against the Indiana Pacers, the team Miller has become the most popular for during his career.
Miller:I see a lot of my own game in this kid, I just need him to break out of that shell and develop that killer instinct.
Miller has been teaching Gordon all of the tricks of getting open and always moving to keep the defense off balance.
Miller:Eric is not as tall as I during my career, but he is very quick. And strong too. Those will be his advantages when fighting through screens and getting n position.
Gordon:When I was young I used to watch him play all the time for the Pacers. I always loved his game and am very privileged to have the opportunity to be trained by one the NBA's best shooting guards.

I love Miller, he would do wonders with Gordon in real life.
Btw, how did George7 get to 12? I thought only 7 points were awarded so far, the caption and the give away question, not the contest #2 one?
Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:18 pm
Bomb Diggity, no points yet for contest #2, i haven't revealed the answer yet...George7 has 12 because he was involved from captions before, so he got points for those
Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:22 pm
Oh understood

Looking forward to more contests haha!
Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:04 pm

As i saw you put the "School" at mine as "olympiakos BC" which is actually the past team!
Maybe you should put school "Greece" as i mentioned in the pm.Or i understood wrong.
PS.The other points from the contest 2 are hidden?(as you said 21 points are possible)

Bomb Diggity,
George7, well everything that has the answer available gets the points right away....so captions+contest #1 (yes, contest #1 is Reggie Miller...anyone that wants those 5 points but hasn't got them just has to say "contest 1 reggie miller" or something)
since contest #2 is a prediction....its still open the actual results havn't been posted...but those 8 points are already calculated in the total. the points will be given when the News Article that tells the answer is posted

Attention Agents!

It has come to my attention that not a single one of you are correct for the prediction for
Contest #2.
So since I don't want everyone to receive a 0 for that contest,
I will allow each Agent to change their answer for that Contest ONLY.
Also, Agents
must state their reasoning on why they picked that person. Partial points will be given to those with good/believable reasons, even if the person they picked is wrong. Stating clues can help.

I'll go with Neil Oshey too.
And i have a clue,if it is him!
Wed Sep 29, 2010 2:53 am
George7, ur welcome to share u clue...
in fact how about this...
For Contest #2, each Agent must supply a reason why they chose that person. Partial points will be given to those that can come up with a good/believable reasoning. Giving clues will help.
i'll edit the attention post and the contest post to add this
so if you have a really good reason to pick Del Negro, even if u know it is wrong, if ur reasonsing is good...u can still get points
... Bomb Diggity, bryan_jay23, George7, please post (or edit ur post) to add your reasoning

Recent Injuries around the NBAThe injury bug has hit again in this early NBA season, this time its major victims are a pair of Williams and a Jefferson.

The Utah Jazz will be without PG
Deron Williams for at least 6 days due to a sprained thumb he sustained against the team's victory against the San Antonio Spurs. Coach Jerry Sloan has his work cut out for him now as he must motivate backup PG Ronnie Price to try to fill the void and still be able to play the Jazz system efficiently.

San Antonio has really started to show their age as they have struggled heavily this early season, and losing their young athletic starting SF,
Richard Jefferson to a bruised knee. 2-year player and former D-League Call-Up Alonzo Gee will start in Jefferson's absence.

While
Mo Williams is still expected to play, as his sore finger is not as serious as it first seemed; expect his minutes to be limited. Williams and Jamison have been the two doing their best to salvage what they can in Cleveland after LeBron James left them dry to take his talents to South Beach earlier this summer.
Corey Maggette was expected to return to the Bucks active roster by now, but the team trainer has not cleared him of his injury yet. Maggette is currently behind on his expected return, how this will effect the rest of his season is still unknown, especially with Maggette's history of being injury prone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Wall's debut as Grizzlies spoiled in Washington by former teamRight when John Wall touched the ball at the opening tip, Wizards fans began to boo, and boo loudly. And it continued, each time Wall touched the ball the crowd would start booing. At times, the booing got so loud that it was hard to hear the referees' whistle when they tried to call a foul.
But that wouldn't stop Wall from playing his game...
Wall was able to dish out 8 assists to help out two teammates (Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph) 20+ points in his first game as a member of the Grizzlies. Wall even helped show that with a solid PG, last years 2nd overall pick in the draft, Hasheem Thabeet may not be a bust after all as he recorded a double-double by going for 15 points and 12 rebounds.
However, the Grizzlies were not able to pull out the victory. While Wall showed his great passing skills and ability to make teammates better, he struggled in his own offensive game. Part of the reason could be that he had to face up against the man that took his role in Washington, the re-emerged Gilbert Arenas. Arenas poured in 44 points on the rookie.
Check out the boxscores:

Ooh Snapp! D.C. must have really prepared for Walls Debut.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 11:19 pm
As said prior, GM Neil Olshey is my answer for Contest #2.
The reasoning is because I believe that due to the fact that you are Assistant GM, it would be a good twist to have your character achieve the GM position, kicking off a real GM for an NLSCer

Also, I think it would be better to write stories about yourself rather than a character without much backstory on his personality etc.

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS [14-0] vs NEW YORK KNICKS [8-7]
Final Score: 104-98
Griffin delivers a victory while the Clippers return home

Matcups |
 | vs | |
Baron Davis | PG | Raymond Felton |
Eric Gordon | SG | Wilson Chandler |
Kevin Durant | SF | Danilo Gallinari |
Blake Griffin | PF | Anthony Randolph |
DeAndre Jordan | C | Amar'e Stoudemire |
The Knicks just off of a tough 4 point loss in Golden State against the Warriors and now they have to face the last undefeated team, the Los Angeles Clippers.
The luxury of having a Big 3 is that if any one of them is playing poorly, the others can step up. The last came, Kevin Durant had trouble shooting, but an excellent game by Eric Gordon made everyone forget about that. This game, when Gordon and Durant are struggling on offense, Blake Griffin has stepped up. But was it enough?
The first quarter was very uncharacteristic of a D'Antonio run team as they ended it tied at 21. The Knicks held their own on the defensive end, forcing the Clippers in a tough 37% shooting quarter. The Clippers, especially Gordon who just came off a record breaking 9 made 3 pointers game a few nights ago, could not make one from beyond the arc. Until Baron Davis lead a charge in the final minute scoring all of his 8 points with a monster jam and 2 3 pointers, on of which game at the buzzer to tie the game with no time left on the clock. Davis had another chance at half time to tie the game at 45 with a 3 pointer, but his shot was just off the mark.
Throughout the first 3 quarters the Knicks were able to shoot above 50% while at the same time keep the Clippers below 50%. That changed in the fourth quarter. Baron Davis interrupted Coach Del Negro's diagrams before the start of the fourth with his own pep talk. Whatever Davis said to the team, it worked, as the Clippers finally started hitting shots and played stronger defense by finally getting the Knicks to shoot under 50%. The Knicks did not score until about 3 minutes into the fourth quarter. Baron was the facilitator and assisted in all of the first points in the fourth quarter, including an unlikely 3 pointer by Craig Smith. Eric Gordon was also able to hit a 3 pointer late in the fourth.
Craig Smith's first 3 pointer of the season | After hitting 9 last game, this is Gordon's only 3 pointer |
Once the Clippers got comfortable lead late in the quarter, the Knicks fate was sealed as DeAndre Jordan blocked Amar'e Stoudemire's dunk attempt while the Clippers had a 8 points lead with only 46 seconds remaining. The Knicks began to foul the Clippers, who would make all but 2 of their free throws.
Jordan's block that sealed the fate of the Knicks |
With this win tonight, the Los Angeles Clippers are on the verge of matching the league record for the best start of the season if they can win their next home game against the red hot New Orleans Hornets. The current record holders are the Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon's 1993-94 Houston Rockets and the 1948-49 Washington Capitols.Team LeadersStats:Cippers:Points: Blake Griffin (31)
