You're on fire with this nugget team, I can see you playing the spurs in the western conference finals. But what happened to the celtics? Why are they so bad?

Still nice to see that you've got a 60-win season with no problems. (Y) Awesome to see the Lakers under .500

Here's hoping I can. Power and Durant are hopefully the foundation of the future, along with Martti's man Jennings.

I'll never get tired of it either after my first season. I think bowing out to the Spurs in the way that I did kind of drives me to be a bit ruthless

Thierry. wrote:The 2nd best team in the whole league is 12 games behind you. That says it all

It is kind of crazy that I probably was ensured a playoff position after about 55-60 games.

Well, their big 3 are well and truly gone (Ray Allen had a bad season with me earlier in the story too). Rondo is playing for the Knicks, where he's playing All-Star Caliber still and they have a front court of Brook Lopez and Michael Beasley. Both good players in my book (well, atleast guys with a high ceiling) but I can't imagine it keeping them amongst the best teams in the league.

And the Spurs would be a nice challenge in the WCF... I still have some revenge to extract on them as well

69 wins is looking rather unlikely at the moment, but I hopefully haven't put a jinx on myself by saying that.

I wonder if the Lakers would take such a steep decline in your dynasty... it'll be interesting to see.

Houndy wrote:If this was the NBA today, the Nuggets would be on ESPN every night

And I still wouldn't be able to watch it because of One's piss-poor coverage. You know it's bad when you find out about the result of the game in the ad break on the same damn channel.

To me I think the most remarkable thing is how weak the East is at the moment. Pretty much all the big names like LBJ, Durant, Melo, Curry and Biedrins are in the West at the moment.

I never would have made that connection, but that is awesome (Nach Carlos = Nachos).

That sounds pretty awesome. I think at some point I'm going to have to make a glossary of nicknames for this dynasty, because giving the generated players nicknames has been quite an enjoyable task itself.

Ah, so Cabron has kind of become a slang insult? Maybe Nachos is the nickname for him then.

5 Game Summary

The domination has continued as the Denver Nuggets increased their winning streak to 19. The closest game of this round was decided by 7 points, but the feature game will be the one in Phoenix against the second placed Suns:

Nuggets scorch the Suns

Denver came up with one of their most emphatic offensive performances of the season with a 113-81 belting of the second placed Suns. J.R. Smith and Kevin Durant led the onslaught with 32 and 31 points respectively. Chauncey Billups however would win the Sprite Performer of the Game with a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists. Top West Rookie George Power would also reach double-figures in two categories with 12 points and 12 boards.

For the Suns, Stephen Curry led the way with 33 points. Maciej Balazs scored 19, while LeBron James was noticably uncomfortable by his matchup against George Power, as he scored a below-par 14.

If the warning bells weren't already sounding to the rest of the league, they should be now. Against the second best side, Denver made an absolute mockery of their defense scoring 113 in regulation.

MVP?
Image
Kevin Durant has entered in the minds of the voters as the MVP over the last couple of months and after scoring 36 against the Rockets, it's hard to think he'll be straying too far away.

ROY?
Image
George Power has been the revelation of the Rookie class this year. Against the Hornets he scored 26 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks. No one else in his class is coming up with such big numbers so consistently.

Finding his range again
Image
Brandon Jennings was the top scorer against the Memphis Grizzlies with 28 points. Coming into the playoffs, this return to form is very pleasing.

Not a problem
Image
Historically in this dynasty, Denver have struggled against the guys taller than 7 foot. How do you combat that problem? Sign the tallest guy in the league. Yao absolutely dominating Hasheem Thabeet with numbers of 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Next 5 Games

70 down, 12 to go. Denver need to win 9 out of those next 12 to equal the Bulls record and 12 more wins would see Denver claim second in NBA history for the longest winning streak, bringing them to 31 (2 away from the Lakers record of 33).

Another 5 game summary will be up next.

Not to jinx it but I reckon you're finishing with 70 at the very least. (Y)

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Kevin Durant is still tearing it up! Nice to see Yao dominated Thabeet too. That'd be an interesting matchup to watch at this point of your dynasty.

I think this is the most historic season of your dynasty thus far. A potential MVP, ROY, you've got a chance at the Bulls' 72-win record, and to pass the Lakers' 33-game win streak. Hope all of that comes together. :)

Here's hoping... it'd be a nice reward for playing another 82 :)

Thanks Axel; it's nice to have my best season yet as I'm approaching my 10th season. I still have a lot of ideas floating around to keep this dynasty interesting for hopefully another 10 atleast. For now, I'm enjoying the winning and I hope I can scoop up a few awards at the end of the season... and Yao will always kick Thabeet's ass

Bomb Diggity wrote:Wow, dude good luck with getting the 72 win season and also in getting the awards for your players.
Awesome, awesome dynasty!

Thanks Bomb Diggity; an award I'd really like to get is actually the Most Improved Player... I'm still yet to get that one out of all the seasons I've played in this one.

Houndy wrote:You're the best Live player I've met; you give everyone a fair chance to play. I do that, but you implement it so well

I'm not sure if I'm the best... I'm still playing this on All-Star afterall, but as you said, I believe every player deserves game time. I do my best to play a 10 man rotation most of the time. I think stepping up to Superstar would just floor me

Thierry. wrote:ROY for Power! (Y)

That's right, we need a bandwagon going!

The X wrote:You can do it!!! 73 wins then sweep the playoffs. Fo-Fo-Fo-Fo :P

One thing I'll have to check is what my playoff winning streak is currently at. I know it's atleast 16 since I went Fo-Fo-Fo-Fo last season... actually, now I think about it more, it is just 16. I simmed the season previous to that.

megarover wrote:This is one of the greatest seasons of all time (Y)

Thanks megarover, it's definitely the best one I've ever played in any Live now I think about it. While I've almost got the record for most wins, it's not like every game has been a complete pushover, which makes it more satisfying.

------------------------------

Crisis Averted: My almost epic-fail-facepalm moment

Thinking I was in the blank day after the previous game, I hit "simulate" the current day. I didn't realise that there was a game previous to that day and it simulated and came up with a loss. Luckily the game didn't auto-save and I was able to recover from my previous save point.

There's a lesson to everyone I think

5 Game Summary

Denver have now surpassed the Houston Rockets for second place for All-Time Longest Winning Streaks. They equaled Houston's 22 with a blowout win against the Blazers and broke it with a closer win against the Bulls. Another blowout win, this time against Boston assured the run would stay alive at 24. Previous to the record games, the Nuggets were close to once again falling short against both the Lakers and Sacramento. The feature game is the one at Staples:

Denver win another OT at Staples

Image

Denver managed to outlast the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime, winning 99-94. With the score at 75 points each, Chauncey Billups once again had the shot to win the game; however, he uncharacteristically missed it and the game was forced into an extra period. J.R. Smith was the high-point man for Denver with 34 points. Kevin Durant and bench guard Garth Vine both registered 15 points each, while power forwards George Power and Borislav Perko rounded out a solid team performance with 14 and 10 respectively.

For the Lakers, the clutch-shooting Mike Conley scored the most with 29, but it was MVP favourite Stanley Alston who picked up the Sprite Performer of the Game. The battle between him and J.R. Smith was the highlight of the game with Smith scoring more points, but Alston having the more all-round stat-line with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Theo Hadson scored 16 and Bubba Worthy had 11.

It seems no matter where both teams are positioned in the standings, the games seldom end up anything less than classics. In this era, Denver currently have the ascendency, but the rivalry will never be dead between these two.

The MVP has arrived
Image
It seems like an age ago when J.R. Smith scored 50+ points 4 times in a row... but it was only just this season. After playing second fiddle for most of it, he came out on a tear against the Celtics, putting up another 50 points. He's peaking at the right time of the season.

Blazing Billups
Image
Chauncey came up with yet another massive game, this time against the Blazers. He scored 40 points and dished off 11 dimes. Come on Mr Big Shot, come back next year and equal Robert Parish!

Meanwhile...
Image
Kevin Durant scored 22 against the Sacramento Kings. It might not have been his biggest score, but it's possibly his most meaningful of the season. In a game noted for it's tough D, he was the only player on the court to eclipse 20.

Game Defining Performance
Image
Robin Lopez hasn't been a star this season, but against the Bulls he scored 10 points in the final quarter. In the grand scheme of things it might seem like much, but his energy in the 4th really helped Denver finish strong.

--------------------------------------------

Next 5 Games

@NJN
@MIA
OKC
UTA
@MEM

If Denver go 5-0 this round, they will beat Chicago's record.

--------------------------------------------

Just another 7 games to go. As per last year, I'll have one more 5 game summary and then a double feature. Generally in my last two I like to rest players so guys like Patrick Mills, Taylor MacKenzie and Basil Richter can get a go. Spots 11 and 12 aren't always set in stone on my teams, so I use those last two games to see where my role players are at.

Hopefully the next summary will be up soon :)
