84 – Stephen Jackson (SG)
63 – Ersan Ilyasova (PF)
85 – Monta Ellis (SG)
69 – Nicolas Batum (SF)

Ratings are predictably off, but those are the standouts. Fucking turrible. So glad Rashidi and 2Kshare exist.

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Sun Sep 19, 2010 8:32 pm

I guess the problem is just once again the off. and def. awareness, which boosts the overall rating way too much.

Ilyasova and Batum like most of the Euro players just get overlooked in video games. I'd rather have those two on my team than the team cancers Jackson and Ellis.

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

No Brendan Jennings ?

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Sun Sep 19, 2010 9:51 pm

Those were gathered from an online league. It's likely that Jennings is on another team not participating in those leagues.

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Sun Sep 19, 2010 9:52 pm

A lot of players went missing here :? No Jennings for Bucks or Butler for Heat.

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Sun Sep 19, 2010 10:15 pm

Do the overall ratings in 2K suffer the same problem as in Live/Elite where certain individual ratings are weighted a bit too much, meaning players with high dunking ratings and the like end up rated a bit higher than they should be?

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Sun Sep 19, 2010 10:30 pm

Yep. Mostly positional, say the Pass rating has a greater effect on overall rating if the player is a guard as compared to a center, or an increase/decrease in low post ratings will greatly affect the overall of a C/PF than a guard.

These ratings are made, to that every team be on this same level, what another one. For example: Miami, Chicago. Ratings are bad.

Good find. i havent seen the individual ratings yet but since its 2k and the ratings are probably the exact same as 2k10 im going to assume alot of those players are overrated. LeBron a 97? hell no! Somethings gotta be too high. Monta Ellis an 85  .U can look at some of these and can tell 2k messed up on alot of these.

I wonder what Kleiza's overall is, cause he's good player and you could see that in World Championship.

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:48 am

Other than LeBron's FT and post game, what other the things does he lack in skill that make him undeserving of a 97?

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:50 am

:?: Why cant lebron be a 97? He is the reining MVP, two years running, I'm suprise it isnt 99...

Re: Partial List of Overall Ratings

Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:28 am

Ok maybe not a "hell no!" but slightly too high for my taste IMO maybe a 94 or 95 which is not much of a difference but 2k does tend to make his midrange and 3pt too high. Hes the reigning MVP and best player but he doesnt have to be rated that high. Here are Rashidis rosters that will be released for 2k11 btw. Compare his ratings to the 2k ones. This shows alot of 2k's players are overrated anyways and some underrated.

We tend to give too much importance to overall ratings anyway. So long as the players have realistic abilities and play like their real life counterparts, the exact overall rating isn't that important. Especially when certain abilities boost the overall a little higher or drag it down lower than is perhaps ideal.

but yeah, Off aware & Def aware really plays a role in Overall cuz I remember in my player, in my third season, I had my shooting and layups all the way up, not until I put my off awareness up to about 85 that I finally got the 99 rating!!!

I'm not sure how it helps in the game but it does affect your overall, all WHOLE LOT!!!

Overall ratings can become problematic though, when the CPU's trade logic is only based on them for example (which sometimes seems to be the case). Same for rookies. The CPU will not always draft the best fit but the best overall rating.
So an overall rating is not really helpful for the game except the fact that you (the gamer) have an easy indicator for how good a player is. Don't know any solution for the overall rating problem though ...

People at OS have theorized that the Potential attribute also comes into play in the cpu's trade logic.

68 - Linas Kleiza (SF/PF)

Hell no.
Minimum overall for him is 70. He's good at three point shots, midrange, atacking the basket, clutch shots. I would say 75.

70 is already high for him. 75 is too high. Remember that 2K revamped their ratings from 50-100 to 25-100.
Though he is a good shooter, decent rebounder, and takes good care of the ball (even though he doesn't pass), he has no D and takes too many possessions for a role player.

Joel Anthony with 58 is a bigger travesty. He should be in the 60's range, 65 tops.

All of which serve to drag down his overall rating because his ratings in those areas won't be as great. At 68 overall, his strengths are probably well-represented.

Oh I won't say, that he has no defense. He has pretty good blocking and perimeter defense, but not so good. But i think, he's a bit underrated. Like, when you'll play game with this overall, he will look like an average guy. Well, we'll see how he does in this season and (I think) if he does well, his overall will change.
