My point was they're better at rock than techno. I listened to a few songs today. Horrible. 3 of the 5 songs were under-one-minute filler tracks.
Thu Sep 16, 2010 9:53 am
I got it, and there's nothing techno about this. (Nor was there anything techno about Minutes to Midnight.) "The Catalyst" is not really a good representative of the rest of the album. Still this is, despite the spoken word sampled speeches, standard crappy lyrics, and multiple interludes, gobs more interesting than anything they've done since their blatant peak in Reanimation. I can't put my finger on what it reminds me of, but some of it is hinting The Sounds of Animals Fighting with the manner of song construction. But it is leagues away from the first three albums in terms of style. And I can't say for sure if it is good, but I can say it exists.
("Waiting for the End" was top favorite on the first listen, and the best song they've done since at least "Numb" but it's probably even better than that I'll have to ponder. "Iridescent" was easily next.)

I'll check those two out. Acutally, my friend was going to by the CD today so I'll ask him if I can borrow it. I'll listen to the whole thing nd see how i like it.,

new Deerhunter. have not listened yet. but they are one of the more worthwhile indie bands IMO.

New Deerhunter is pretty good upon first listen

New Deerhunter is fucking rad. Not as rad as Microcastle/Weird Era Cont., but fucking rad nonetheless.
Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:21 pm
I like it a lot. Think I may actually like it better than Microcastle. Desire Lines is my favorite track.

The new Bad Religion album is probably the best they've released in the last 7 years or so.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:19 am
The Linkin Park is probably the worst they've released in the last... Forever.

It's crap. There's like one good song. I almost "like" "The Catalyst" now and that's pretty sad.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:47 am
Linkin Park is absolutely diabolical anyway. How are they in any way appealing?

They were really good 5-10 years ago. Everything went downhill after the Jay-Z collaboration, which I have to admit wasn't all that bad. And I thought Minutes to Midnight was bad...

Im not a fan of the new LP either but note: this isnt a review thread: how did it become one? Make a thread about it so you and me can tear it to shreds and benji can tell us we're wrong.

Nope they went heavier mostly which is good since they're playing Soundwave next year
Tue Oct 19, 2010 6:39 am

Good for them - I thought they were going to turn into a hard rock band instead of their usual metalcore.
Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:28 am
There's a few of those songs on there but nothing like Forever In Your Hands from Overcome.

Good thing or bad thing? While I didn't like most of the "slow" songs on there, "Forever" was actually one of my favorites.

Yeah I actually liked it too

there's a cool acoustic version of it worth checking out.
These two pretty much sum up the entire album... it's like they wrote two completely different albums and mixed the songs up:
