Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I don't know if there's a topic already about steam, but I have some questions about it.
1.Steam is only an online shop or anything more?
2.Is it safe to buy things from steam?
3.If i buy a game from steam and at some point uninstall it,is it possible at a later point to download it for free(as practically i've already bought it,I assume there should be a storage place for the games you own or sth like that) or i have to buy it again?
4.Does steam have a wide variety of games?
Those are my questions so far, thanks in advance for any answer

1. Well, it's an online shop, but its also a scam factory. Basically, $team does three things: takes your money, puts trojans on your computer and occasionally lets you download games
2. NO. I paid good money for several games, and never got them. I clicked play and my computer said "Please insert disc". That's right, they got my cold hard cash for nothing.
3. You have to buy it again, for double the price.
4. Well, if you like (normally) free Half-Life 2 mods, then yes.

Lamrock, thanks for the answers
Seems i would only download demos from there and some HL mods

Be careful though. They try to scam you into buying (that's right, buying) the demos. Check it out (I have yet to download latest version):

I guess you could say, I was pretty
steamed when this happened to me.

Me and Jao's response is the usual response to Steam.
Lamrock might be referring to a fake joke $team.

I bought the two Monkey Island remakes through Steam (mainly because it's the only choice if you want them on PC). I have to admit I still like going out to a store and picking up a physical copy of a game and as long as that's an option I doubt I'd ever use Steam exclusively. But I definitely like the convenience, the ability to buy older games, etc.

Can games be
installed Offline if I got the Steam Version?
Also if I buy the CD/DVD from the Retail, can I still run it through Steam
without using CD?
I'm doing that with L4D2, does this also work with NBA 2K11?

Sorry about that benji,
I did Search actually and it was flooded with
The Letting Off Steam Thread &
NBA 2k11 on Steam Now!, which didn't contain much information. I found this on the 8th Page after reading your message.
Thankyou
