I'm tethering through my phone because I'm speed capped at the moment...

I'll try it through my internet later.

I think it was 19MB yesterday eventhough I was downloading a torrent at 600KB/sec when i did the test. Everything clear today but is 17MB?
Does day and night time matter?
Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:02 pm
It does for me,it depends on how much people are using the internet at the same time, and stuff like that i guess.
Though it depends on what internet do you have, and is a modem or something different.

If you have cable your speed can vary with local load.
That ping on Jae's is amazing considering the distance.

Absolute bullshit. I have problems loading my franchise's first page because it has big pictures on it.
It regularly takes an hour to download 100 mb files

It's not 15 megabytes, its megabit. So you are getting about 1.5 megabytes per second as long as you are connecting to a server that can send you data at your max speed. There are plenty of slow servers out there, not to mention bad routes that your data hops through to get to its destination and back.

not much of a change when nobody is using the internet
Tue Sep 07, 2010 2:06 am

I can live with that. I got almost the same results as Sith in my university though. Too bad they kicked me out.

formyhunny, what plan are you on? We share the same ISP provider, but I get the half the speed you get. Aren't you on Shaw Extreme High Speed as well?

used to have a 100mb/s and 24 mb/s internet too but it was quite expensive and abit pointless too.

Ya we got the same plan. But one question are you using wireless internet? Using wired internet makes your speed like mine. BTW my speed just became faster than ever
Wed Sep 08, 2010 1:49 am
Eh... Same plan, same service provider, but yours twice as fast. That's bit odd, even though it is wireless that I use. And it's wireless-N which is supposed to be pretty fast.
Can't complain though, as the speed is good enough for my use and the payment which I make monthly is only at around $20 on promotion.

At school... pretty good, but nothing compared to Sit's univ.

Is this good?

I honestly don't know, but I presume the higher the numbers the better.

On the whole, we're ranked pretty low amongst developed nations. We do have fast broadband though, it's just not available to everyone nor are the fastest plans with the biggest download limits as affordable as they are in other countries.
