I think I will like having a modifier and being able to change the direction of my layup during long ass animations.
so now you’ll be able to interrupt or branch out of any animation that would have previously locked you in from beginning to end.

Nice. But does it transition nice? Much of the beauty of 2K bastketball has been the smooth transitions into and out of the realistic looking long animations. Which might be why people weren't so bothered with them in 2K as they were with Live.

Good read. I like the sound of the updates they've made to the shot stick controls and the ability to perform some signature fakes; Rondo's fake in the trailer looks pretty cool. Updating the shot button was definitely a good idea as well, as it should appease fans of more traditional controls.

Nice insight and l love that they have finally made some new cool moves for the game, cant wait to try it out this october

They simplified the behind the back dribble, spin move + shot, and the step back J. Nice, especially the step back, I love doing that in the game.

Right = Rim Hang dunk
Useless imo, for aesthetic purposes only.

The Shot Button now has access to just about all the shots available on the Shot Stick
(Y)

no more unwanted changes of directions
Damn yeah. Many times in 2K10 after receiving the pass and quickly going to drive in one direction the player will drive the opposite direction after a set animation. Annoying that shite is.

We’ve completely gone away from the Lockdown Defense idea (aka. Auto-D) and returned the Left Trigger to a movement modifier to give you full control over your facing
Sweet. Auto-D was a piece of shite, made you lose control of your player, had to turn it down to zero.

The Right Analog stick gives you the ability to jump in front for a charge (a la Fisher), or when coupled with the Left Trigger, allows you to play a quick cutoff move in any direction.

hold RT (R2 on PS3) and push the Right Analog toward the ball handler for a hard foul.
Good that they're adding more function for the RS on defense.

Actually this sounds just great. All these changes sound so good, I hope everything works fine.

Finally the chance to make a hard foul. You gotta love that.

Perhaps it can be assumed that those dunks tend to be more powerful though, making them the weapon of choice when you want to go up strong.

Possible. As I always try to do the power dunks as opposed to the flashy dunks when I want to be really sure with a dunk in 2K10.

[quoute]So if you release early, your shot will go long… if you hold too long, your shot will be all arms and miss short.[/quote]
Good to see they got that one right, unlike EA.

There was a whole thread about that discussion at OS. It seems to me that there was no actual right or wrong due to so many factors in shooting the ball in different ways and with different timings in real life. 2K has taken the fundamental true to life version, while EA has gone the videogame power-meter type version.

The one thing I don't like about either game's shooting is that there is no option to shoot a set shot outside of it being a player's assigned signature shot.

That's a good point cause that's more close to real life. If you release it early, with no follow-through, the ball tends to go long and holding it too long before releasing makes it tougher on your arms to get a smooth shot off.

Agreed, I can see merit in both approaches and both are logical in their own way. At least both games allow the user that kind of control over their shot and reflect the consequences of an early or late release.
