Rookie Hazing, Part I
Hazing the rookies has always been in this league since the very beginning. With the Clippers having 4 rookies to pick on this season, things should be fun. (Blake Griffin, while a rookie on the stat sheet, will not undergo any hazing this season as he was hazed all last season). In addition to the normal rookie tasks (getting coffee, waiting until the "Hot Now" sign is lit to get Krispy Kreme donuts, or carrying equipment), the rookies will encounter some fun, weird, and completely embarrassing moments this season. Catch all the action here!

The rookies were excused from any extra ordinary hazing last night (opening night) because it was meant to pay respects to the late Lorenzen Wright, but tonight is a different story.

Since the team is upstate playing against the Warriors, the veterans had built a trolley made out of a cardboard box. The rookies were dropped off from the team bus a block away from the arena. They had to all get into the trolley box and walk the rest of the way to the arena making "ding ding" sounds as they pretended to ride the trolley to Oracle Arena, Fred Flintstones style. Al-Farouq Aminu needed his own box trolley because he did not fit with the other guards.

While the bus drove along side of them taking pictures, random people and Warriors fans gathered to watch, laugh, and take pictures of the rookies.

Wow, long recap. IMO i prefer more the shorter ones and lazy to read like those kind of writings, plus shorter recpas can help you to finish a season faster, well it's just me. Nice win.

KidJustin, about the recap.I realised,that all people who do their first recap(me as well) start with looooong recaps,though eventually their shortening them ,in order to not get bored over time

except mine was like a book...i think it also has to do with the Clipper blog I follow, the main blogger is a really good writer and always has detailed previews and recaps...i guess it doesnt apply to NBA LIVE dynasty. the thing is i just got to caught up in thinking i have to write a good recap that i took as many notes as possible throughout the game

by the time i finished recaping the 1st quarter i realized i did too much....but i couldnt stop there or else it wouldnt match. we'll i'm learning and hope to improve on it for the next game. i'm just trying to think of mini stories to go on within the game. but then again...maybe it will just come naturally

like the last game...i didn't expect Bledsoe to to play a lot...but Baron got in foul trouble...which lead to the Bledsoe made 3 but angered coach situation (i also wasn't expecting to make the 3)...let's see how that develops now

and Willie Warren...againt, i didn't expect him to play at all...but he go in...and he was wide open for the 3 the first time...Roy coming in at the last second was just icing on the cake to the Miller story line that is developing

so yea...let's see what things happen against the warriors tonight

You've put a lot of effort in there huh especially with those gif images. Heehee! I'll follow your Clippers coz of your recaps And IMO give those recaps a bit shorter ones.

haha thanks basiliopatrick...i want to keep my recaps colorful and entertaining...but it is too long...i hope i can find a good balance as i get used to it

i think its just the issue of getting the first one through with will ease the rest of the recap writing for future games

anyways another question (to all)....
did i release the rookie hazing story too soon after the game recap? should i have waited to post it until just before i played the game?

Clippers break Franchise Record in only the first game of the season

With only the first game of the season, the Clippers as a team already broke one of their franchise records! The Clippers, as a team, had 67 Made Field Goals in tonight's game against the Blazers beating out the previous record of 62 against Milwaukee back in 1974 when the team was still known as the Buffalo Braves.

haha about an hour is right...almost as long as it took me the play the actual game. don't worry i'll tone it down a bit try to keep it to a paragraph or two.

man i really wish the game had technical fouls (not 3 second violations) and fights and arguments....it would really help creating a story... oh well. now i got to get creative.

Eric Bledsoe upset with Coach Del Negro?

In the first installment of Rookie Hazing, Eric Bledsoe did not appear too happy.

We caught up with the rookie point guard before the Clippers game against the Warriors tonight.

When asked if the rookie had a problem with the hazing, he responded:

Naw man, nothing about that. I can handle it....

He paused...

I just want to get out there and play some ball....

He started to make his way into the locker room but stopped to turn back at the reporter,

Who pulls a player out of the rest of the game after he hits an amazing shot!? The team needs 3 point shooters, we'll I can contribute! And I'm damn good at it. We needed points that game and I delivered, I should have finished the game. Especially with the foul trouble Baron was in. I mean, what, I scored like 11 points or something off the bench? That's how much the other teams bench scored put together. If this team wants to win, I need my minutes. Hear that? MINUTES....

He stormed off into the locker room.

Well, he's a rookie, nevermind him. He needs to know his place in this organization. We have to play team basketball throughout the entire 48 minutes. In practice, every one but he can see that he tries some selfish plays just to show off.

Just a tip though, you need to watch your tense in the recaps. Either stick with present or past, don't mix them. Other than that gj

George7, If I fire Del Negro, I don't know who I should replace him with...not many Clipper greats to call back to be the coach like ur dynasty ...I think I'll stick with him for now. any comments as he was your coach for 2 seasons?

something will happen, just not sure yet. This was a spur of the moment story lines that just happened so I haven't got this was all mapped out yet.

thanks Keef, I hope I can get him ROY. John Wall's 7 points 1 assist on opening night really helps Griffins chances. Good thing Arenas is back for that team. (Good for Blake that is ).

I actually thought Griffin's debut was border-line spectacular. Baron was the real reason they got through the game and Gordon's 35 points help ease Roy's 41 point barrage. His rebounds were top notch though. I think he can do better.

I'll do better with the tense, I was a little tired writing it. Plus it was hard to stay consistent when writing for a long time...I took some pauses and lost my train of thought. A shorter recap should fix that, as well as allow more proof reading.

DelNegro does amazing job with the rookies so you can't fire him for that!
Surely he can't handle difficult situations that good though as other coaches. Mostly because he's a bit inexperienced

high-scoring opener and nice to come out the victor ; but definitely heed the warnings re: the length/time taken to do your recap; otherwise you'll catch a serious case of arthierryitis before you hit ten games

Great work with that first recap, though I think if you put that much time and energy into the recaps you might find yourself growing tired of the Dynasty a bit quicker. I too would be in favour of shorter recaps but kudos on your efforts on that one.

The first ever recap is long, but taking the game opener is good. Keep it up and be sure to lose to the Mavericks every time mmkay?
