Didn't watch all those videos, but the first video from mrtcnk showed off a little bit more of the improved man defense. Notice at 0:20ish in the first vid, how the defender is kinda side shifting his feet or w.e, I like it.
Everything else I really don't want to see, as watching the first video kind of made me dissapointed. I understand it's on a different setting, and obviously is a W.I.P., but seeing the same crap pass animations and hook shots, poor lane defense, things that for the most part, aren't going to be affected by game settings or difficulty (other than maybe lane defense or passing lanes)... after all these years, it's really gotten annoying, and to be honest it's become difficult to impress me in sports games lately after realising I still like Madden 2006 better than 2011, and NBA Live 2005 better than 2009 (last one I played).
I don't think this is going to be a day one purchase as it has been for the past 4 years.
Biggest things keeping NBA2K from being the best sports simulation are:
- Late game AI - which is supposedly been worked on
- Lack of control - I've never really found this to be that big of a deal, I like the strategy and what not more than seeing my player pull off a dope ass double crossover spin move tomahawk dunk yo, again supposedly worked on
- PASSING - Of all the thousands of animation in 2k, the passing needs to be worked on the most, dumb overhead passes from ten feet away, cross court passes with precision accuracy, passes that go right by a defenders head. This area is HUGELY underated in my opinion, this leads to many balancing issues, strategic issues, as well as cosmetic issues. Dishing it off when in trouble makes offense too easy, and defense frustrating especially on the harder difficulties in past games. This also affects how easy it is to score in the paint as in real life half the trouble is getting the ball into the paint. I could go on much more about this area but I'll give you guys a break.
- Overall polish and little things in Franchise and My Player - Things like adjusting quarter length, stupid (and repetitive) A.I. trades, the dumb and sometimes impossible training camp or monthly drills or challenges, the skill points you aquire at the end of the year, just some really stupid things that seem rushed or thrown in at the last minute.
There's obviously never going to be a perfect game, but I really am amazed I keep buying this game when something as basic and fundamental as passing cannot be improved or corrected. Meanwhile nearly every year some dumb improvement such as better footplanting physics gets mentioned or worked on. I understand advertising, making your product appeal to the larger market, but these are things everybody wants, not just panzee ass things like more shoes or celebration animations.
OOOOOOooooo better introduction presentation, now instead of just playing 30-40 full length games in my franchise, realizing this game is once again very mediocre, and stop playing it just 4 months after purchasing it, I will play it year round right up until the release of 2k12! JOY
There's my rant, hope I don't feel suckered after buying this game.
