MJ: Creating A Legend Mode

What if Portland drafted Michael Jordan instead of Sam Bowie? It's the question that has been keeping Blazer fans up at night for decades, but "NBA 2K11" is finally going to let you see what life is like with His Airness in the City of Roses. In fact, any NBA fan who ever dreamed of Being Like Mike, or at least having Air Jordan leading their franchise to a title is sure to be intrigued by the game's new MJ: Creating a Legend mode.

"This is a brand new experience that we're delivering to our users this year, and it's a mode that's not immediately available when you purchase the game," explains "NBA 2K11" producer Erick Boenisch

"Also exciting is the news that Jordan's physical appearance will transform as he ages in the game. Adds Boenisch: "When you start out as a rookie, you're going to start out with the short fade, the short little hair. Then as he gets older you're going to see him go with the bald look, then the mustache in the middle years, and his body will bulk up a little bit as he slowly becomes the older Jordan. For fans of Jordan, it's really cool to see the progression and play as Michael and see what it is like to relive that skill that he had to takeover any game.
"

This probably means that body types have improved. Just when you think it couldn't get any better, 2k just whips this out (Y)

The young Jordan looks buff. :|
If the Jordan and Iguodala screenshots are an indication, 2K11 might have most of the players really bulky.

PC is going to own this mode

start with 84-85 rosters
then draft classes :headbang:

actually I plan on assigning court files (we have 10,000 CF values, those dont need to be portioned off) so we can go back to those days with accurate courts
Opinions are my own.

My Player is still in the game.
The MJ mode is just another mode that is unlocked when you complete the (10) Jordan Challenge. It's like the reward for 'finishing' the challenge.

Both have been close-up screenshots so not really easy to tell if they're too buffed or not right now.

Just an awesome idea! Draft classes through, at least, 2001-2002 would be killer!

I don't think the zoom really makes a difference or is playing any tricks here, the players so far have looked a bit too buff. Doesn't mean the game itself won't be fun to play though.

They're certainly going all out with MJ's likeness which is good to see. That's a pretty good incentive to finish the Jordan Challenge.

True, though I still think it's fair to call them out on it. After all, even though we could fix certain things with Live PC back in the day, it didn't mean they shouldn't have been that way in the first place.

oh for sure, I just wanted it known that there are values that the official roster makers arent using that we can use.

According to Boenisch, gamers will be able to play as Jordan from his rookie year all the way up to about age 40 as the rest of the NBA changes around you, complete with player trades and signings.
Now, is this authentic and historic trades and signings including drafts?

I'm guessing it's talking about drafting him into the present NBA and seeing him progress through the course of an Association game.

But it's player-locked. It's like My Player. You control only Jordan.

If its the present NBA he would be the only guy with these shorts?

Saw the 1s and 12s now, hopefully some more shoes this year.

I'm aware of that, I'm not sure why I mentioned Association, but my point was that it appears as though he'll be playing in today's league rather than complete retro rosters from his era...though that would be awesome.

lol. The screenshot is probably from the Jordan Challenge, showing the look they have for the young MJ.

Absolutely, I was just talking about what the game would offer by default. As always, patching opens up a host of other opportunities. :)

Yeah, just imagine. We could have the proper roster, then all the draft classes. It would be like requiring history because you have no idea how its going to pan out.

I expect an overrated Len Bias. Highly rated than that 2nd year player named Michael Jordan.

Now there's an interesting scenario for re-writing history.
