can i go over the hard cap?

I have a Knicks association and OJ Mayo and Gallinari are willing to sign extensions during the season but when I try to sign them it says I can't sign no one over the minimum unless I have under 12 players on my roster.

I have lebron... Max deal
Horford...resigned to a bit lower than Max deal
Aldridge...same as horford
Jeff Green...9 mil/yr
JR Smith ....7 mil/yr
Stephen Curry and everyone else still on rookie contract
Tyreke Evans
Thabeet
Spreights
Terrence Williams
Anthony Randolph

Is this just because its during the season?? Will I be able to resign them in the offseason? I'm worried that ill lose them for nothing and if I can't sign them, then what will become of all the others that will have to be resigned down the line...Evans Curry Randolph ??

Are they in the free agent pool, or playing on your team?

To sign someone from Free Agency and your over Cap, you can only spend maximum of $5.85M, and I'm sure you can only get one player at that.

To sign someone from Free Agency and your under Cap, depending on how much Cap room you have, you can spend as much as you like on the player.

If they are playing for your team and you have Bird on that player, you cannot go over the Hard Cap to sign them.

If they are playing for your team and you do not have Bird on that player, the same rules apply as Free agency.

All the players listed are on my team...the season has just started and Mayo and gallinari are willing to sign an extension now instead of becoming restricted free agents at end of season.

I saved my association under a new file name and simulated to seasons end and I was not able to resign my players.

I had to trade aldridge to bobcats for jrue holiday and 2 #1 picks to create hard cap space to resign mayo

Damn hard cap! Oh well now I know and ill continue my actual association with this in mind

You can't go over the hard cap. That's why it's called a hard cap.
