http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/ ... er_ajinca/No Raptors for Chandler. I think if Chandler can be healthy, the Mavs won big time in this deal.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 6:16 am
yeah if chandler is healthy this is good news for the mavs and chandler. he was so close to going to a guarenteed loser now he gets to play for a top rate team
Wed Jul 14, 2010 7:11 am
He will have to be satisfied with a bench role, since they promised the starts to Haywood.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:34 am
i rather come off the bench for a winner then start for a loser

Chandler's also an expiring contract, so it's not like the Mavericks will be stuck with him long term if things don't work out. Dampier's an expiring contract too so it's not too bad for the Bobcats either, though Najera and Carroll are signed through next season.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:57 am
Dampier's an immediately expiring contract. Bobcats will be cutting him probably.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:00 pm
So he is, I overlooked the note that his contract is non-guaranteed.

I like the idea of Tyson Chandler playing alongside Jason Kidd. Hoping to see this works out and Dallas will give Lakers trouble next season. DAL vs MIA finals wouldn't be too bad.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:55 pm
It was; the last time it happened.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 1:49 pm
Wouldnt a Lakers and Miami matchup be better?
Anyway, good trade for Dallas
Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:30 pm
Nobody likes the Lakers.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:47 pm
Or... fear the Lakers.

I really like this for the Mavs, they got the bodies in both Chandler and Ajinca to back-up Haywood at C, which will mean a lot when the playoffs starts.
I also think they both fit the Mavs well, they could switch from a low-post defender in Haywood to a shot blocker in Chandler any time during the game. Plus, you will defiantly see a LOT of alley hoops from Kidd to these two guys.
As far as the Bobcats, except for the money consideration in Dampier's contract, I don't see another upside for them.. I wonder if Jordan has some kind of master plan because Carmelo and CP3 would prefer playing with Amare in NY than playing on this team.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:57 pm
Good deal for the Mavs, if Chandler stays healthy which is a big if. Still I don't see them winning anything since they simply cannot get a top tier guy next to Dirk. It's always like trying to bring in new role players and see how it pans out. It just won't be enough.
Good to see that they are planning for the future by bringing in the french guys. (they also signed Mahinmi)

What a cockblock by MJ.

Raptor fans thought they already traded Calderon, then MJ takes the worse deal.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 7:10 pm
Worse deal?

Najera and Carrol do nothing but take up money. At least Calderon could play. They could use a good PG, now that they've lost Felton.
Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:05 pm
Calderon has an awful contract though, Najera and Carroll's contracts combined are still less than his salary and expire earlier. Dampier is $13 million off the books straight away.

fuck no.

You want the Lakers to beat the Celtics back to back?
Thu Jul 15, 2010 2:49 am
Good pick-up by the Mavs... I think it's a pretty bad trade for the Bobcats to be honest, they make the playoffs and now they look like they are right out of the picture again.
Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:44 am
MJ can't make a decent trade can he? Why the fuck would we want Eduardo Najera??? Hoping Eric Dampier can be traded for a good center and Najera for a point guard. At least the Bobcats got rid of Alexis Ajinca.
BUT, I can't complain because it's tons better the Toronto trade that may have happened. Chandler Boris Diaw would have gone and we would have got a bunch of crap back.
Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:47 am
It was a good trade because they saved a few million dollars with Damp's insta-expiring. Its a shame they couldn't dump Diaw, but Calderon's contract is also toxic.
Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:52 am
There's also the possibility that the Bobcats aren't confident that Chandler will hold up through the season, preferring instead to get the instant cap relief from Dampier's non-guaranteed contract instead of waiting out the year or trying to move Chandler at the deadline for a team looking to clear cap space with expiring contracts.

It's an awful trade for the Lolcats because Najera and Carroll's contracts still have a couple years on them, and so they'll be paying more in the long run, then they would for Chandler, who only has one year left.
