Anyone else see the ungodly mess that was Strikeforce: Nashville? Christ what an awful event. Someone named "King Mo" lay down on Mousasi for 5 rounds and won a belt, I didn't even know who was the champion initially to be honest. Then a Mexican guy I've not heard of stood 6 feet away from Aoki and occassionally punched him in the face for 5 rounds, also winning a title then Jake Shields lay down on Dan Henderson for 4 rounds and retained another title. The only remotely interesting thing that happened was the brawl afterwards, I hate the Diaz sisters.

Aoki just like Gomi, I think is a better fit for the ring, not for an octagon. Mousasi's loss was quite surprising though, since many thought he was pound for pound best in the world. King Mo, I heard of him from arguing with Quinton Rampage Jackson which almost escalated to a brawl. Never have I thought he'd be able to beat Mousasi. Him vs Quinton should be a fun fight if it ever happens.

The brawl after the fight was crazy. Miller obviously is going to be blamed but yeah, Diaz is a bitch. What an idiot.

May 15th, Brett Rogers VS Alistair Overeem. Both fighters are to best tested for steroids at Olympics level of testing. I think both will pass without a problem. This is the one fight I can't wait. Meanwhile, Werdum is to be the next challenger for Fedor. That is low...

Re: MMA

Tue May 04, 2010 6:14 pm

It should be a cool fight to watch, but kinda weird that Rogers lost his last fight and is now getting a shot at the title. That'd be like Carwin knocking out Mir but Mir getting a shot at Brock first. Fedor's "complications" can really fuck up promotions it seems.

The next few UFC cards look awesome despite Forrest pulling out of the Nogueira fight. He would've been destroyed anyway.

UFC 113:

Machida vs Rua
Koscheck vs Daley
Kimbo vs Mitrione

UFC 114:

Rampage vs Evans
Bisping vs Miller
Sadollah vs Dong (that could be amazing)

UFC 115:

Liddell vs Franklin
Cro Cop vs Barry
Rothwell vs Yvel

UFC 116:

Lesnar vs Carwin
Silva vs Akiyama
Pellegrino vs Sotiropoulos

UFC 117:

Silva vs Sonnen
Fitch vs Alves
Matt Hughes vs Almeida

UFC 115 looks a bit weak but otherwise, awesome fights. 13, 16 and 17 in particular.

Also, Mariusz Pudzianowski is fighting Tim Sylvia on May 21 which will be entertaining in one way or another.

Looking at the fight cards, it's just amazing how many great fights are coming up, especially Lesnar/Carwin, Kos/Daley, Ramp/Eva, Sadol/Dong, Silva/Akiya, Silv/Sonne, etc...

Mariusz Pud vs Tim? Lolz... Finally happening. Hype vs Has been... always fun to watch. But hoping to see Brock in Mariusz. (Y)

You guys been following the Bellator tourney? Huerta just got beat by Pat Curran and Eddie Alvarez put Josh Neer to sleep with a standing rear naked. Pretty good fights so far for the most part. Pat Curran just spoiled their hopes of Alvarez vs Heurta for the belt, but Pat Curran has looked real good in both of his fights.

Another fight coming up, hopefully, is Din Thomas vs Ricardo Mayorga. Don King is trying to stop it, but Shine fights say its still going down. Check out the presser... :argue:

Lolz... that fight was epic fail for both...

Anyways, on UFC 113, finally Shogun got what was supposed to be his. He beat Machida twice techinically so he deserves the belt for sure. He's just a natural born fighter.

Re: MMA

Mon May 10, 2010 2:34 pm

Shogun murdered him. Machida looked pretty ordinary, glad he lost.

The Daley/Koscheck fight pissed me off so much. They are both in my top 10 favourite fighters list, Daley higher than Kos, so they spend the entire fight with Kos lying on him not moving followed by Daley cheap shotting him after the fight and getting himself kicked out of the UFC. Ffs.

Evidently Kimbo sucked so bad Dana White doesnt want him to fight again in the UFC? Was it that bad?

Slice went 1-1 in the UFC after the reality show, including a bad loss Saturday night at UFC 113 against Matt Mitrione. The fight was so one-sided, the UFC president decided to give Kimbo, 36, his pink slip.
"That's probably Kimbo's last fight in the UFC," White said. "Listen, Kimbo made it farther than I thought he would."

Re: MMA

Mon May 10, 2010 9:06 pm

So it means we get to see him beat up more bums and hobos in the streets. Sweet.

Re: MMA

Mon May 10, 2010 9:20 pm

He was just outmatched. He has no ground game and was exhausted by the middle of the second round. Also Mitrione is better than advertised. Kimbo's slams in the first round were awesome though.

Based on the fact that his career started from internet hype and fans were generated from that, I'm guessing that he lost his value gradually, as the realization happened. He was getting paid more than what he was deserving all the time. Now that he doesn't draw as much crowd as before, Dana can throw him out at ease. That's one of the reason that many fighters didn't like to fight in UFC but to stay elsewhere. More risk for what it's really worth. Fighters who gets thrown out from UFC usually ended up with "washed up/loser" tag and became unwelcomed from anywhere. Competitive level in UFC definitely is at highest now.

Re: MMA

I think StrikeForce are the big winners after UFC 113 though. They'll get the #3 contender for the UFC WW title and Kimbo who still has decent name recognition. Daley is the big one though. Provided he doesn't fight an all-out wrestler he's one of the most exciting guys in the division. They could throw him in there with Nick Diaz, Frank Shamrock, Cung Le, Robbie Lawler etc. Some nice match-ups. I wonder if the UFC will release him or just suspend him until his contract expires.

I also think Kimbo vs Herschel Walker, Andrei Arlovski or Bobby Lashley would draw too.

Re: MMA

Tue May 11, 2010 12:05 am

I hope to see Daley vs Melvin Manhoef. Lawler got lucky against Melvin, but 8 times out of 10, Melvin would win in those situations. These kind of fighters will win many fights, but also will lose handful due to being one dimensional.

Daley obviously isn't going to do too well against wrestlers, but still can draw crowd, so yeah, it's a headache for Dana. Dana is busy trying to prove that UFC is the toughest place, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him let Daley walk, since he lost.

Re: MMA

Mon May 17, 2010 1:06 pm

Overeem just dominated Brett Rogers. Tossing him to the ground almost looked too effortless. I'm liking his chances against the Fedor now, though I expect Fedor to find a way to win somehow like he has been throughout his career.

Arlovski and Randleman were disappointing. StrikeForce seems to be using former UFC champions to their benefits very well, even though it's totally a different era in UFC at the moment.

Re: MMA

Mon May 17, 2010 3:05 pm

I haven't seen the fight yet, not too keen on downloading the entire card but I'd like to see how Overeem went. I saw a few interviews with Rogers before the fight, if that guy had to take an IQ test in competition with a bag of dog shit he would most likely find a way to finish 3rd.

Save yourself trouble. For some reasons, StrikeForce doesn't care about their fights going onto Youtube in contrast to UFC and WEC.

Re: MMA

Mon May 17, 2010 3:38 pm

Thanks for that. Rogers looked awful, when Overeem/Fedor fight SF are screwed unless they somehow find a few good heavyweights out of nowhere.

Re: MMA

Tue May 18, 2010 3:15 am

Rogers seemed to be just over powered.

I like Overeem's attitude of, "I will fight anyone anywhere.". I have a feeling, that only if UFC's Dana White would allow Overeem to fight in K-1, he'd also be in UFC.

Re: MMA

Sat May 22, 2010 5:33 pm

So Tim beat Pudz. Apparently it was a fairly pathetic performance by both, only Tim declared "I'm back" after the fight. God that guy is a tool. Dana should sign him and let Velasquez pound the living fuck out of him before he gets his title shot with the Brock/Carwin winner.

Re: MMA

Sat May 22, 2010 11:13 pm

Tim looked so out of shape, unconditioned. His style and size still gave more than a noob Pud could handle. Pud looked so robotic though. I guess MMA career isn't just right for him. He has no wrestling skills, boxing skills, or even stamina to keep up with his own heavy body for full rounds. I sort of wanted to see Bobby Lashley in Pud, but he is nowhere close, I guess.

Re: MMA

Disappointing... especially main event. Expected much more from some key fights that Jae mentioned above.

Re: MMA

Mon May 31, 2010 3:55 am

I didn't mind it, then again I watched it after I downloaded it so I could fast forward huge chunks of wrestling throughout. I also watched it on a projector screen the size of my wall so that probably made it better. The Brilz/Nogueira fight was good and the Russow/Duffee ending was cool as well.

Next card looks awful.

Me and my buddy went to Casino to catch the fights, but wasn't worth 30 dollars I lost from playing a stupid baccarat, and a pack of cig I had to buy my buddy due to the lost bet on the main event.
