Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

Is there anyway to know what is the COACHID is?
Example I would like to bring back Avery Johnson, how can I do that if the COACHID is not in the dbf anymore.
Also is the speech id of the coaches the same as the players speech id?

From memory you can assign a coach's ID number as a player's SPEECHID and it'll work, can't recall if it works the other way. It won't cause any crashes if it doesn't, their name just won't be called, so you might want to give it a try.
To find out a coach's ID, I just look back at the coaches.dbf file from an earlier game where necessary.

Thanks for the reply Andrew. I already try that still they call Avery as Lawrence Frank. Also about the CF when the start of the game the CF is Avery but after the timeout the CF is Frank then it turns to an alien guy.
I don't really have any idea how to edit or create another coach

It's usually pretty straightforward. Changing the name is easy enough of course, from there it's just a matter of changing the COACHID, ID7 and PLAYERPKG fields to ensure the speech and art pointers are correct along with the other aesthetic details such as skin tone, body type and height as necessary. For Avery Johnson, change the COACHID to 8081, HEIGHT to 71, WEIGHT to 185, COLOR to 4, BODYTYPE to 0, EYECOLOR to 1, EYEWEAR to 0, SUIT to 0, ID7 to AVJOHNS, PLAYERPKG to AVJOHNS and BEHAVIOR to 1.

Thanks a lot Andrew

No problem. The process is the same for any other coaches you want to restore, just copy the values from the previous game's coaches.dbf file.
As far as adding new coaches, I use the 90s Coach's data for the COACHID and ID7 so the game calls them "The Coach", then change the rest of the data as necessary.

I'm experimenting if they can call the players speech id. example I used James speech id then hopefully the game calls them "James calls a timeout."

It works the other way, so it's worth a shot.

is that really possible for a player to call a timeout in nba live 08?
Wed May 19, 2010 12:31 pm
You mean have a player decide to call a timeout and make the appropriate signal? No.
Wed May 19, 2010 3:29 pm
So the announcer will always say, "Doc Rivers calls an early timeout"? Is there a way that the announcer will say, "Paul Pierce calls an early timeout"?
Wed May 19, 2010 4:15 pm
No. Not that there'd be any reason to anyway, since on real broadcasts the announcers tend to say things like "(Coach) has seen enough", "(Coach) wants a timeout" or "(Team) calls timeout", even though it's the players who signal for it. However, the bottom line is we cannot edit the commentary so no, it's not possible.

it is because they, NBA live 08 creators, won't provide us the audy needed for the change of commentaries. Am I right andrew?
Wed May 19, 2010 5:20 pm
Not exactly. EA Sports have never provided us with tools to edit NBA Live (and in all fairness they have no obligation to, as nice as it would've been). Audy 06 and all of the utilities for editing Live have been community-made. Or in the case of DB Commander, non-EA Sports software that we can nevertheless put to use with the game files.
