The college life

Postby Bill Russell on Sat Feb 07, 2004 6:00 pm

It's so great! Women, books, parties, studies, friends and memories...

What do you studied, study or plan to study at college?

What do you expect from it? What are your memories from it?

I want to know what everyone thinks...

Ah, college!

I'm a senior, after three years...

I drink too much (as some NLSC goers know, I have pictures to prove it, plus I'm tanked right now), and I have lots of friends who depend on parties. Lots of girls, although I could care less because I have a girlfriend that I l...lots of people, video games, laziness, basketball and running and weights at the rec, shitty tests, papers, projects - all done at the last minute, of course- and so on.

The college life is great...if you're a lazy slacker like me. If you actually care about school, well, fuck ya'll. ;) Oh yeah, I'm going to be an English teacher. :)

I'm in my fourth year of highschool...yeah yeah, shutup.

Anyways, my expectations from college aren't too much. I know how to drink, and I know the chicks too. Island life rocks for a reason and it's not becuz of the sun and the sand. Some of the people know what kinda chicks are on the island, seen in my display pics on MSN. Thats just my fixed group of friends you see in the pics, guys...I've got lots more.

(Ye ye Shane, it's no Heidi, but we make do!)

I'll probably be attending college right here in Holland, so I doubt I'll be living on campus, probably just get my own place. I'm not the most social type, it takes ages for me to open up to people, so I doubt I'll socialise that much. As my sister put it, I have all the makings of a serial killer, I haven't totally put it out of my mind, since she would be the first if I did decide to pursue the carreer.

I hardly take highschool serious, but I haven't flunked once, I can read things once, and I manage to get a 6..we grade work with numbers...1-10. You get the 1 for writing your name correctly, which I even managed to fuck up once, becuz I had no clue we started exams on that day.

In short: What I expect from college:

Booze, ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies, wet T-Shirt and ofcourse, the only reason to go to college:

SEX

Pity you poor bastards, that go there to study.

i graduated with a degree in culinary arts about a year ago but i'm still taking a few adminstration/business courses part time.

as far as the college life goes, there's quite a lot to mention. i would say these were the best days of my life before i became financially independent and was free of paying off loans

i should have finished in 2.5 years but it took me almost 4 due to parties, weed, ectasy, acid, liquid G, nitrous, beer, liquor, occassional asshole roommates but lifetime friends, girlfriends, junkies, the bulls, the bears, even the northwestern wildcats, the cubs, the sox, shit- i remember ditching class to work out.

i remember trying to live off $20 for a month, which eventually led to me and my roommates to sell drugs, which eventually lead to the house being raided and some of us being arrested, and having my little cousin steal the newspapers of all my relatives houses because we were in the police blotter

spring break, mardi gras, forgetting what fake name i gave to girls i was hitting on, calling girls the wrong name in bed, astroglide, beating up antawn randle el at a danceclub, getting beat by david schwimmer's (sp?) bodyguards because we were hitting on the same girl

going to mandated alcoholic anonymous meetings, failing several times attempting to try quitting/selling weed, staying up for days on ectasy, getting drunk for weeks at a time.

i have no regrets though

as for the learning part, same as shane said, lots of shit done last minute. and i am proud to say that i never cheated in any of my culinary courses

i'll just stop now before i spill more of my troubled, criminal, druggie past

ahh the memories

LOL dang, how do I make this sound interesting?

I finished an Arts degree last year (humanities and social sciences type of Arts) and majored in Sociology/Anthropology. Also much last minute/late assignments. This year I'm going to another University to do Youth Studies, I got a bunch of credits from my first degree so I should be done half way through next year. Can't complain, 2 degrees in 4.5 years. Can't wait to start working though like a lot of my peers... feeling a bit left behind.

In terms of partying and what not, it's a bit different here. Most people don't live on campus, only exchange students or people who live really far do. I drove an hour, sometimes an hour and a half to get to school. I never spent one more minute then I had to on campus, and a lot of the time I skipped classes or left early. I go out with my regular friends, and try to ignore and avoid most people I've met at school

 Here's to surviving another year and a half of this shit... and meeting some hot girls.

First off man, I hope you do get rich, I know you've been through a heap of shit to get to where you are so I hope it all works out (y)

As for me, my first degree in terms of work and money is almost useless, but it is valuable in the sense that it will allow me to get my second one quickly. The second one will allow me to work as a Youth Worker. I could work with (problem) kids directly, or the better option: working in an office as a case manager (which is why you go to Uni). That means that I'll have a few young clients for whom I find accomodation, enrol in school, make sure they're doing well and just general welfare stuff like that, without actually having to spend more than a few hours with them a week. I guess my job will be to try and put them in a potentially good situation and let social workers and whoever take care of the rest. In terms of $$$ and opportunities it's great because there's plenty of work, plus my dad is a social worker. As you know, it's who you know and not what you know at times, so finding a job should take about 0 time. :)
As far as I know, the entry level/graduate/whatever you call it money is just under $800AU a week after tax. Finally I'll be able to stop prostituting myself... or atleast switch to "weekend work" :D

Tales what are you going to be doing? You mentioned some kind of research I think, but can't be sure...?

You beat up Antwaan Randle El? Damn. He went to Indiana, though. Why.

.....or did you really beat him up? Did you kick him in his shins and then he lifted you up and through you across a table? And you claim to beating him up? :P

Stevan loves to give... He will import the Pick And Roll Method from the US to Australia and get rich from that...

The uni research, Stevan, won't make me rich... Actually it doesn't even generate money. I do it as something to improve my resume (curriculum) greatly... I plan to graduate, go back to Americana, north of São Paulo, where my parents live and life is generally better, to work there, starting in the beginning of 2005, a month after I graduate and end this shit. Then I plan to do some masters course, a MBA, and be a phD (and keep on working... I can study on the weekends and when the company lets me have the day off)... Then, when I'm around 40, 45, start teaching (to get in touch with the new generation, ie, fuck younger girls), while still working... So when I retire, I'll have 2 earnings (?): the school & the company... In the between, marry some beautiful and trusty girl, have some children (3 or 4, if I can), buy some cars and a yacht, and go to USA have a beer with Shane and bother Ben's ass, and go to Australia have a beer with you and shave Andrew's beard...

go ask him about it. my friend was bouncing at a club in indiana where randle el was kicked out. he wasn't cooperating so we helped escort him out and it turned into a fight in which he got his ass kicked.

Aw, Stevan has a big heart.

LOL. I know it may sound like I don't care, or that I'm in it for an easy job which pays well... and that's because I am :D In the mean time I'm taking advantage of an education system which isn't going to be so giving in a couple of years time.

Stevan loves to give... He will import the Pick And Roll Method from the US to Australia and get rich from that...

LOL dude what are you trying to say about the level of Australian basketball by that? :D The pick and roll is too advanced, we must sit before we can crawl, and crawl before we can walk... that's why we should introduce "one on one" defence first (everyone plays zones here) and then we can teach big guys to "post up" and use "post moves" and our guards to "dribble", "beat defenders off the dribble" and in general "penetrate".

Looks like you have all your shit planned out. 3 or 4 kids though? Come on man! See I'm not the only one who's giving... Perhaps you're hoping that atleast one of them can become a pro basketballer? "John/Karl Pagni" maybe? :D

i start my Uni life in 7 days. I expect a tough first few months and then easy sailing through!!!

What course you doing Matt?

There's around a week left for me as well. The holidays went by too quickly (n)

lol Stevan, just check my sig and Tony's to see what I'm talking about when I refer to the pick and roll stuff...

Yeah, I like to plan... Perhaps things won't go down like that, but like, if I'm planning to stay on the middle of the road, and my life goes a bit to the ditch, no problem... Just make some adjustments and it's ok.

Yeah man, I plan to have at least 3 kids... I like big families... I'd love to be surrounder by my grandchildren when I get old. I would even tell them some NLSC stories. I wouldn't mind if they could be professional bball players, but of course I wouldn't stand them if they told me bball was boring.

(Y)

Oh yeah, and got 3 weeks till the start of classes... There's that moment of the year... the Carnival... Tits afloat... (Y)

The pick and roll = eewwww!

lol man I dunno if I want more than 2 kids. I want to be able to provide for them comfortably, and also be able to give my self certain things. Though if I find a really hot wife, forum time = 0, time with wife in bed = many many hours that I would otherwise spend reading this stuff. We'll be shagging like rabbits

Tales if you marry a certain hottie I've (we've :) ) heard about, then you can justify having enough kids to make a complete NBA roster including injured reserves! :P

Yeah Stevan, I prolly didn't tell you that, but that certain hottie, I was told, got back to her old boyfriend... Oh well... Women is not the most difficult thing to find here, even a good girl.

As some friend say, women don't like men... women like money! the ones who likes men are gay people!

im doing a busines course, probly a major in Accounting or sumthin like that......plenty of jobs in that field

as for the P&R. nobody here knows what it is. I play ball with dudes that have been playing for 12+ years and have never used a pick and roll. I play PG/SG, i call for a pick and nobody does anything, i get so pissed off. If our team used pick and rolls, screens, then we'd be the best team. But all they do is call for the ball. If the ball goes into the post, it never comes out. The dude could have 5 players groping him and 4 guys on the perimeter who can shoot the ball real well and he won't pass. Thats why sometimes i dribble the ball upcourt and shoot a 3 w/o making a pass. Which reminds me, we dont pass. When i sit on the bench we start losing. Im no great bball player, but i use my head and make smart decisions..........end of my rant
