The Knicks will definitely return to the playoffs next season if they get their targeted free agents.

But they won't go far with this coach.

With Mike D'Antoni?
Fri Mar 19, 2010 4:51 pm
That'd be him.
The Suns had a respectable measure of success in a tough Western Conference under D'Antoni so with a deeper talent pool the Knicks could probably have similar success in the East. D'Antoni himself is probably the only person with complete confidence in his system yielding NBA championships though.

Mike D'Antoni wrote:Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni has fired back at rookie Jordan Hill, who claimed that he was buried on the bench during his tenure in New York.
"Where does that come from?" D'Antoni said. "Seriously. It's something that cracks me up. I don't play rookies? I don't like to play bad rookies."
Hill, who the Knicks dealt to the Rockets in the Tracy McGrady deal last month, helped Houston defeat New York with 13 points and five rebounds on Sunday afternoon.
"What can I say?" Hill said upon hearing D'Antoni's retort. "That's him. He's entitled to his own opinion. If that's the way he feels, that's how he feels.
"I'm entitled to my opinion, so I'm just going to go out there and say what I feel."

D'Antoni seems like quite the prick when it comes to people questioning him. I see him as being the kind of guy who gets all pissy and worked up when people say he's wrong and what-not (I'm sure he's gotten like that when people question his system).
Good for Jordan Hill though. Speak out, what do you have to lose, you're having a pretty strong finish to your rookie year being a part of the longest haired front court in the NBA.

That's the problem Andrew. You don't go deep in the playoffs without a commitment to tough, hard-nosed defense. D'Anfoni can yap about wins all he wants too, how many times did the Suns beat the Spurs? Sir Charles is right, it is 'sissy-ball'.
This tool D'Anfoni is really ticking me off with his lack of attention to defense, his alienating players, dumbass comments to the media, and his unwillingness to make changes to the staff. Word gets around fast in the NBA - you think an A-list free agent wants to play for this clown?
Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:51 am
No question. Seems like his insecurities and ego alike are getting the best of him under the pressure of losing. With the wins and without the bitter back and forth with former players, playing for him seemed like a much more appealing prospect in Phoenix compared to his current tenure with the Knicks.

You can't help but question anything he does really, he did choose the Knicks over the Bulls. I still can't understand why, saying Chicago was the better situation is an understatement.

Didn't New York get an offer on the table first? The Bulls were/are still paying Skiles through to the end of this season, from memory they either lowballed D'Antoni or were dragging their feet on making an offer in the first place.

Yeah, it was all about money. Like Larry Brown, D'Anfoni fell in love with Dolan's millions.

Good win over the Nuggets yesterday, though they were pretty lucky when the call was reversed on what should've been a charge and David Lee's sixth foul. Considering the game was looking like it would be an embarrassing blowout early on though, not a bad effort at all.

Well, if the whole Lebron-2010 thing doesn't work out for the Knicks there is always Carmelo-2011.
"I really don't know what's going to happen the next year,'' Anthony told reporters in New York. "I don't know what's going to happen. But I don't see why anybody wouldn't want to play here in New York.''
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/w ... index.htmlI find it VERY difficult to imagine Carmelo leaving Denver, but I've always felt his "rivalry" with Lebron would've been so much better if he had been in the East instead of the West. Its funny how Lebron vs Carmelo became Lebron vs Kobe.

The Knicks Lost Decade Team:
how pathetic is this?

Talent-wise, it's not all bad but still quite a depressing retrospective for Knicks fans.

It's worse than depressing, man. I've seen plenty of lean years since the '73 championship, but we never had a run like this. It's been nearly ten years since this team had a serious playoff run. And the blame lies squarely on Jim Dolan and Cablevision.
Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:33 am
That team is horrific. They wouldn't even make the play-offs in the East, and that's an All-Decade squad

At first I thought that was a bit harsh but going back and taking another look at the squad, I'd have to agree they'd be lucky to battle for the eighth spot.

This is how low and pathetic Knick fans have become. We've resorted to rooting for our hated division rivals in the hope of getting LeBron.

Scores, the city's best-known jiggle joint, offered LeBron another mouth-watering inducement to move to the Big Apple - free lap dances for life.
Thu May 13, 2010 9:37 am
When the Magic were trying to sign Tim Duncan a decade ago, all that was on offer was free coffee and donuts. Clearly, a community has to come up with a much better offer than that to sway a free agent, so New York is upping the ante with LeBron.
Sat May 15, 2010 5:52 am
Now the NY media is on a "LeBron Watch". We'll be bombarded with LeBron coverage for the next seven weeks. Pathetic.

As Wojnarowski
said, he'll still manage to dominate the headlines throughout the Conference Finals, NBA Finals and the Draft.

This Lebron deal that comes with Calipari sounds like a real bad deal.

It's probably bad news for the Knicks at least as they seem unlikely to dump D'Antoni.

Folks, it doesn't get any stupider than this:
"...Curry went to Allstar in 2008 and took out the five-month personal loan at an 85% interest rate - legal only in Las Vegas."
WTF?????
