Is there ANY way to...

... save the various stats to a file (box scores, league leaders, etc.)? If not within the game, is there an external program that can read the stats files? Where are the stats stored?

Unfortunately there is no function for this in-game. It is definitely something to put on a wishlist. Possibly something similar to uploading videos or screenshots to the 2KSports website,and then exporting them from there, but that would be up to them.

If a programmer/hacker was talented enough, they could create a program to extract the boxscores from save files on the PC version, but you would have to find one and make that request to them.
