Durant’s 44 Help Thunder To Easy Victory Over Magic
OKLAHOMA CITY, November 8th
Last season the Oklahoma City Thunder didn't win their third game until a week before Christmas. This season it took only six games.
Kevin Durant scored a season high 44 points and the Thunder were able to contain Dwight Howard in the second half, as Oklahoma City cruised to a surprisingly easy win over the Orlando Magic, 115-101.
While the first half was a very competitive game, it was unexpectedly easy to score open buckets against a weak Orlando defense in the third and fourth quarter.
For the Magic it was working beautifully to go down low and hammer the Thunder defense for a layup or two shots from the line in the first half, but after some adjustments made prior to the third quarter, the Thunder were able to keep the Magic to just 18 points in the quarter, to take a demanding lead.
Dwight Howard was held to just 5 points in the last two periods, after scoring 16 in the first half.
Russell Westbrook capped off an amazing performance, dishing out a career high 14 assists, to go along with 22 points.
The Thunder’s next game will be in Sacramento to take on the Kings, whom they already lost to in their season opener.
