Azzdogs, yes. Tyreke for example is only averaging 10 ppg and Jennings in the third PG in Milwaukee after they acquired Calderon for Bogut.

Chapter #5 - The Choke-Artist.

Image
My first block in 5 games. Just look at the impression on Leandro's face.

How's it going. It's me, choke-artist Michael Parmer.

It's a nickname I have given myself thanks to the last two games. I don't really want it to catch on, but it's understandable for reasons I shall explain in a moment.

After the Pacers game, I was still down about air-balling that potential game-winner and I jokingly said, I won't miss today. We were playing the Suns and I was just trying to put that miss behind me. I came in to the game in the first quarter with the game tied at 10 all. I came out after the score was 13-18 with us trailing and a minute to go in the first. Coach put me in when the the second quarter started.

We had fell behind 28-13. In the second quarter, we played a lot better, but still allowed far too many open shots. Leandro, Steve and Jason killed us from outside. They made like 8 threes in the first half.

Marc was fouled and went to the stripe and I noticed that Steven (Hunter), Sam (Young) and Darell (Arthur) were ready to come in the game so I knew I was gonna come out. Put instead coach took out Rudy, O.J and Mike.

I was confused and ran towards to coach. I asked what was going on. We had three centers on the floor and me and Sam. Coach said that he wants to test my skills, so I was gonna play the point. And my first assignment as PG in the NBA was Steve Nash. I failed miserably. Steve scored a three-pointer and blew by on the next possession, finding Amar'e for a dunk. With 20 seconds to go, we could ran out the clock in the first half.

Put I turned the ball over and Jason made a last-second fast break three-pointer. Coach did yell at me, but as we were walking towards the locker-rooms, Rudy whispered "Don't worry. He's new to coaching, he messes up sometimes." It was a very weird rotation to say the least. Z-Bo was the small forward and I was the point guard.

In the third quarter we made a big run with me at the small forward, my usual position. I had some dimes down low and Z-bo knocked down the post shots. Halfway though the fourth quarter with 5 minutes to go, coach out me in again - on point guard. I didn't say anything but was concerned.

I didn't mess up and we managed a 8-0 run. I drove to the basket and drew a foul. I made both free throws (thank god) and the game was tied. The Suns called time and I recieved a lot of high fives and 'way-to-go's. I felt very good and we felt like we can actually win this game.

With 45 seconds to go, we were down by 4. I drove to the basket again and made an easy lay-up. Nash dribbled and tried to use as much clock as possible. With three seconds to, he passed it to Jason. He got a pretty good look and I was like fuck, that's it.

He missed and I grabbed the board. We called a time-out. We drew a play for an easy two for Z-Bo to send the game into OT. The play went well and Z-Bo was pretty open down low, he started to back down, so I positioned myself to possibly grab the offensive board. He was in trouble and passed it to me. I saw that only 2 seconds was on the clock.

I shot a fade-away from the post over Earl Clark who I had blocked before. He played great defense and I had trouble getting a shot off at all. The ball bounced on the rim twice, but fell of the rim. We lost, again.

The locker-room was very quiet after the game. We are now 13th in the very tough and competitive Western Conference. We head to Portland for the next one, hopefully we can score a win. The formula is simple - don't give me the ball for the last shot.

- Gone.

Nash killed us in the first half.

Z-Bo posterized.

Our problem in the first half - allowing too many open perimeter shots.

Tough loss and Parmer really needs to work on his clutch shooting.

Disappointing loss, but nearly getting triple-doubles is pretty good for an undrafted rookie. You should post a rookie rankings article at the end of the month. (Y)

Azzdogs, he really does. I just spent some skill points on it.

Dee24, yeah, he is.

Lamrock, yeah, I was planning do that. It's coming next as December just ended.

Valor, yeah it messes up sometimes. I hope it won't be a continuous problem throughout the season. I can play SG and PF, that's it.

Thierry., thanks. When Randolph passed me the ball, I was like fuck.

Rookie Rankings -- December

Underlined - Denotes Rookie Leader

Image

1. Michael Parmer | Memphis Grizzlies | SF | Drafted : Undrafted
----------------------------
| 22.1 Ppg | 8.3 Rpg | 6.3 Apg | 1.5 Spg | 0.6 Bpg |
----------------------------
Where has this kid jumped out from? Posting Lebron-esque numbers off the bench while backing up Rudy Gay. He can play many positions, leads all rookies in offensive rebounding and is second in the league in FG shooting. His shoot-selection is very good for someone this young. The fact that he is the leading scorer for a team that features Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay and O.J Mayo is even more astonishing.
----------------------------

Image

2. Blake Griffin | Los Angeles Clippers | PF | Drafted : 1
----------------------------
| 12.0 Ppg | 8.8 Rpg | 0.9 Apg | 1.0 Spg | 0.0 Bpg |
----------------------------
There was no doubt before draft night who would be the number one pick and his numbers are fairly good, but they don't jump out at you. The Clippers however are on a roll and are leading the Pacific Conference. Perhaps more people start going to Clippers games in Staples, not just the Lakers. This could be the year the Clippers prove C-Webb wrong, that they're not just there to help change the courts floor tiles before Laker games.
----------------------------

Image

3. Jonny Flynn | Minnesota Timberwolves | PG | Drafted : 6
----------------------------
| 11.8 Ppg | 0.9 Rpg | 7.6 Apg | 0.9 Spg | 0.0 Bpg |
----------------------------
Rubio is coming in two years, but so far Flynn is in charge. The Wolves have pretty much secured a spot in the lottery, but they have some bright spots as well with Flynn, Brewer and Kevin Love to go with Big Al.
----------------------------

Image

4. James Harden | Oklahoma City Thunder | SG | Drafted : 3
----------------------------
| 14.1 Ppg | 2.8 Rpg | 4.0 Apg | 0.6 Spg | 0.2 Bpg |
----------------------------
Harden has become a big part of the Thunder offense, scoring as much as he can next to Kevin Durantula. He has earned a starting spot in OKC over Thabo Sefolosha, but the Thunder are struggling, having just won 40% of their games.
----------------------------

Image

5. Terrence Williams | New Jersey Nets | SG | Drafted : 11
----------------------------
| 11.7 Ppg | 5.9 Rpg | 2.7 Apg | 1.2 Spg | 0.5 Bpg |
----------------------------
After the Vince Carter trade, the 2-guard spot was open for Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams. Williams has been starting for the league-bottom Nets and has done very well, leading all rookie guards in rebounding.
----------------------------

Image

6. Stephen Curry | Golden State Warriors | SG | Drafted : 7
----------------------------
| 10.5 Ppg | 1.1 Rpg | 2.1 Apg | 0.7 Spg | 0.0 Bpg |
----------------------------
Monta Ellis said that he and Curry couldn't co-exist on the court together. Curry has become the sixth man in Golden State, providing a smooth shooting touch off the bench. Curry is one of Don Nelson's favorites, so he might be bumped to the starting line-up one day, but for now, Captain Jack runs the show.
----------------------------

Image

7. Tyreke Evans | Sacramento Kings | PG | Drafted : 4
----------------------------
| 9.9 Ppg | 2.8 Rpg | 3.1 Apg | 1.5 Spg | 0.4 Bpg |
----------------------------
Tyreke is the replacement point guard in Sac-town and is posting great numbers for his minutes and his per-48 scoring is second among rookies next to Parmer.
----------------------------

Image

8. Tyler Hansbrough | Indiana Pacers | PF | Drafted : 13
----------------------------
| 8.6 Ppg | 6.0 Rpg | 1.0 Apg | 0.7 Spg | 0.0 Bpg |
----------------------------
Hansbrough's 4 years in North Carolina have been good for him. He is very mature on the court and has great rebounding skills. It's a shame he hasn't recorded a block so far this season.
----------------------------

Image

9. Jermaine Taylor | Houston Rockets | SG | Drafted : 32
----------------------------
| 9.5 Ppg | 1.4 Rpg | 1.0 Apg | 0.7 Spg | 0.3 Bpg |
----------------------------
When T-Mac went to Miami for Jermaine (O'neal that is), things were opened up for the other Jermaine. With T-Mac, his scoring average was 4.8. He has doubled that since the departure of T-Mac. The Rockets are a half game out of the Playoffs and they need Taylor to continue improving to make it.
----------------------------

Image

10. Derrick Brown | Charlotte Bobcats | SF | Drafted : 40
----------------------------
| 7.2 Ppg | 3.8 Rpg | 0.5 Apg | 0.4 Spg | 0.8 Bpg |
----------------------------
Derrick Brown is producing Gerald Wallace-like numbers off the bench if you look at his minutes. He is leading all rookies in blocks and is 5th in rebounding. The Bobcats have shocked everybody this season, as they are leading the Southeast division over power-houses like Atlanta and Orlando. This looks like the season the Bobcats make the Playoffs for the first time in franchise history and Brown's defense and hustle off the bench can help a lot.
----------------------------
