First time All-StarI'm glad for Rose and Deron for making their first appearances, as well as Durant. Although I don't get why Horford got in instead of Lee and Gasol over Kaman.

Finally Wallace gets his place at the All-Star game.

Lol, we posted it at the exact same time. I deleted mine though. Anyway, there's a lot of first time all-stars this year. But also quite a few questionable selections. Like you said, I think Lee should've made it in over Horford, as well as Kaman over Gasol.

Deron Williams finally making his first appearance on the All-Star team. Surprised Kaman didn't make it, but for whatever reason I had a feeling only one of Randolph or Kaman would make it.

Hawks are higher in the standings.

Not really sure that getting slightly more steals and jacking up a third more shots makes you more of an all-star than one of the best players in the league. Especially when you're crushed in everything else.

In the real world, Pau Gasol is and has been for some time.

I'm guessing that Rose will be the selection that people question the most, however I'm (unsurprisingly) glad to see the Bulls represented for the first time in years. I wouldn't have picked Rose to make the team though.

Yes finally Deron became an All Star. If it's me I would replace Rose with J Smoove(don't know why lol)
Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:55 am
Because the latter has been playing like an All-Star all season long? And should be the other Hawk instead of Joe Johnson?
I wonder which of Rose, Rondo and Johnson got in as a wild card.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:12 am
Yeah, Smith got robbed.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:22 am
David Lee and Josh Smith should have made it over Joe Johnson and Derrick Rose, but what can you do? I'm happy to see Horford, G-Force and Randolph get the nod. Especially Randolph.

Touché. But Kaman has been having a career year and was well-deserving of an All-Star selection.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:38 am
Except that he's not, as evidenced by the fact that he didn't make the team due to its already being filled by more deserving players. Unless he suddenly became a point guard.

I think a lot of people have overlooked Bargnani. He has been playing twice as well as Horford.

Not really.

How many centers do you want on the All-Star Team? Five?
[Bargnani] has been playing twice as well as Horford.
If you consider shooting worse, rebounding less and defending worse to be playing "twice as well" I suppose so.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:33 am
Bogut should be there.
Gasol > Kaman.
Glad Z-Bo did not get snubbed.

Bargnani as a way better shooter, and he is averaging like 18 ppg. You wouldnt say that about dirk nowitzki would you? He defends worse than horford, rebounds less and has a worse shooting percentage.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 11:43 am
Bargnani has more range than Horford, but despite three-pointers counting more than twos, Bargnani is shooting worse because he takes lower percentage shots. Dirk scores more, and actually has a little bit more defensive win shares than Horford.

Correct, Horford is contributing more than Dirk and Dirk is contributing more than Bargnani.
Not seeing what's difficult about this.

I'm really happy for Deron Williams and a few other players who was selected for the first time. Williams should be in since a couple of years ago, and Durant is having a stellar season. I'm a bit surprised that Horford made it though, I'd rather have Josh Smith in there instead of him.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 1:03 pm
Bogut > Horford.

Just wondering...how much of an effect has it had on Gasol's numbers from moving from being the main guy in Memphis to being the terrific undercard in Los Angeles?
Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:25 pm
All players improve when they move to better teams, but Gasol was no slouch in Memphis. He was one of the best players in the league even then. He's a major reason they won 45-50 games.
Gasol landed on a 45 win team, and took them to the 55-60 range. Bynum's development assisted in that. The other players on the Lakers are pretty irrelevant.
Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:00 pm
The reason Gasol shouldn't been chosen is the fact he has missed so many games this season, not some advanced statistics. Although I agree, that Gasol is the better player, he still shouldn't be in there because of the amount of games played, imo.
Extremely glad to see Rose in there, though. Bulls finally represented after 12 years.
