Thought about this while watching the Knicks/Lakers game. Jordan Hill has been listed as a bust in some stupid NBA articles, and is also seen as one by most members here. I don't think he deserves such a bad rap. He's only played 132 minutes in 14 games, but his PER is over 18, and he's shooting 56%. Perhaps the sample size is too small, but I think J-Hill wasn't all that bad of a pick. (especially after the Grizzlies took Trasheem Thabust over Tyreke)

Agreed, he's looking pretty good against the Lakers. I guess there was bit of a knee-jerk reaction with Brandon Jennings dropping 55 and looking like he should've gone higher and Hill wasn't cracking D'Antoni's rotation, making him seem like a wasted pick.

Bad news, 64% TS, 12.4% OReb, 121 ORtg with 8.2% block. If he qualified that'd be 5th, 8th, 9th and 1st in the league.

I hate PER. Anyway Hill's alright, even though he's playing limited minutes he's probably doing more for them than Brandon Jennings is for the Bucks jacking up 20 shots and hitting 5 every second night.

God damn my stats from November killing me every other night. (Though to be fair, he plays 10 MPG, which is a small sample size against generally shoddy garbage time opposition)

Jordan Hill sucks. It's not that he's not a 1st Round pick, it's just he's not a lottery pick. He sucks.

Says the guy citing a sample size a third the size for the OP.

What can I say? I've had two fail posts in two days and I'm clutching for straws here.

Like a fat girl with a milkshake, you're clutching for straws.
I'm sure I screwed that up.

Whether he's a bust or not, the Knicks should have gone with Jennings.

Nah, they should have gone with Ty Lawson. Only in the NBA will the obvious best player at a position be the sixth taken.
Not really. Happens in everything.
Or in DeJuan Blair's case, like ten billionth taken.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they're like, it's better than yours.. damn right, it's better than yours...

I think it's way too early to tell if he's a bust or not. We'll have to see whether he becomes a solid contributer for the Knicks over the next few years. Andrew Bogut was taken before Chris Paul and Deron Williams, but I don't think he's a bust because he's arguably the best player on the Bucks side and in the top 10 in the league as far as centres are concerned (in my opinion). If anyone's going to be a bust in this draft, it's going to be Hasheem Thabeet.

I wouldn't call Bogut a bust simply because Paul and a couple of others would go before him if that draft were held again today. If they were to hold that draft again he'd probably still go top five.

I guess the argument I tried to make with Bogut was he was taken before two big franchise players. If people label Jordan Hill a bust because he was taken before Brandon Jennings, I just think that's a bit weak.
For the record, I think Bogut is far from a bust

Hill being a bust has nothing to do with Jennings & more to do with his game, or lackthereof

Watch Jordan Hill turn out to be a better pro than Evan Turner.
