Building a team

Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:14 pm

Just wondering if anyone has started a Dynasty with a team that is not generally one of the favourites and built a team capable of challenging for the championship? It could be a good all-round team or a team with a superstar and plenty of depth off the bench.

I started a new OKC Dynasty and this is my team a few games into the 2nd season:

C: Andrew Bogut [80]
PF: Kevin Durant [86]
SF: Carmelo Anthony [91]
SG: Kevin Martin [81]
PG: Mo Williams [84]

Not too much on the bench except an ageing Shaq :?

I'm hoping I can make the Play-offs this season after missing out last season. Currently 5-3 after back to back losses at the Lakers.

That's an impressive starting five, though I'm not surprised that you had to gut the bench to acquire it. What trades did you make those acquisitions?

Season 1
Signed Iverson
Iverson <-> Martin
Green <-> Beasley

Season 2
Released Thomas, Ollie, Sefolosha, Livingston.
Signed Lebron + Shaq + Ilgauskas
Lebron <-> Melo + JR Smith
Westbrook + Beasley <-> Mo Williams
JR Smith + Ilgauskas <-> Bogut

I know I traded the best player on the game, but what's the fun in winning if you have the best player in the game carrying your team. :)

I just played the Lakers and found my team matches up against them pretty well.
Bynum - Bogut
Garnett - Durant
Artest - Melo
Kobe - Martin
Rondo - Williams

Ah, I see. Certainly helps to have those free agent signees. :)

Yeah, so what's your favourite/best team Andrew?

In NBA Live 10, I honestly haven't been able to put one together. The post-patch gameplay quirks and Dynasty Mode shortcomings have made it difficult for me to enjoy 10 as a single player game. My NBA Live 06 Bulls Dynasty was probably my favourite team to play with, closely followed by my NBA Live 2004 Bulls team.

I played a few more games before. Traded Shaq for Kendrick Perkins and signed Eddie House for a bit more depth.

Also remembered I have BJ Mullens on the bench. It's strange, he like 7ft-ish but he's faster than most of my team :P

Just for something different, I thought I'd share my OKC game on here.

Season 3. Game 12.
Didn't make the play-offs 1st season. Won the Championship 2nd season. 10-1 so far 3rd season.

Starting 5
C: Andrew Bogut [80] - 12m - 3 years
PF: Kevin Durant [85] - 5.4m - 1 year
SF: Carmelo Anthony [91] - 16m - 1 year
SG: Kevin Martin [81] - 11.7m - 2 years
PG: Mo Williams [83] - 8.5m - 2 years

Main subs
Kendrick Perkins [75] - 10m - 4 years
Shannon Brown [70] - 5.9m - 1 year
James Harden [69] - 4m - 2 years

-17.3m cap room

Hopefully this will work. If you extract it onto a flash drive then transfer it to save game data on your ps3, it should work. I think :)

If I had the PS3 version I'd certainly check it out. It's a shame we can't distribute saved Dynasty files via the EA Locker, it'd be cool to be able to set up a scenario for other players and then share the file, see how it turns out.

I started with the Charlotte Bobcats post feburary trades so i had a good platform of players to run with, in my first season i made a nice trade with new york, DIAW/FELTON/HENDERSON for LEE/DUHON/HOUSE and then in the off season i traded DUHON/draft picks for HINRICH and signed REDD as a free agent. so my line up going into the second season is;

CHANDLER - 80
LEE - 80
WALLACE - 87
REDD - 80
HINRICH -81

JACKSON - 84
THOMAS - 81
AUGUSTIN - 78
HOUSE - 76
MOHAMMED - 76
DIOP - 68
BEUBOUIS - 72 (trade picks to mavs for him)

it still needs work and obviously redd, chandler even jackson aren't going to stay at this level for much longer but i was able to sim second year up to eastern semi's which i hit the magic and had to start playing games, but that said i came out with the 6th best record in the whole league 59 -23 behind Nuggets, Lakers, Cavs, Mavs, Magic, and Wallace was second in the MVP rankings behind Bryant with 24.3ppg 11.0rebs and 1.2blks (kobe had something stupid 31.ppg 4.7rebs 4.3asts 2.7stls 1.1blks crazys!) Also milwaukee made a move for okafor not sure how or when but they seemed to keep all their other big guns and had a pretty good side, BOGUT OKAFOR SALMONS BELL JENNINGS shame i took REDD off their hands.

I like that squad and so much depth off the bench.

I just loaded this game up to take a picture of my team. Game against Denver, who don't have such a bad team either.
I beat them in the Play-offs last season on the way to the Championship.

Chris Andersen - Andrew Bogut
LaMarcus Aldridge - Kevin Durant
Mike Dunleavy - Carmelo Anthony
LeBron James - Kevin Martin
Deron Williams - Mo Williams
