After watching the Celtics and Spurs game yesterday, I have never seen two players as similar as Brian Scalabrine and Matt Bonner. All they do is camp out at the three-point line, but that's not a bad thing, because they can at least make threes on a consistent basis. They were matched up with each other a lot throughout the game. They almost look exactly identical, and play the same exact positions as each other.

Scalabrine can't play C,Bonner can.
They look really identical, but they're really not so close when you look at they're playing style.
Scal like's to defend, even though he sucks as hell at it.And you really can't compare they're 3pt shooting,Bonner can kill him from 3.
Ah,i remember Scal wearing a headband that made him look like Jackie Moon.

Their shot distribution is similar but other than that they aren't really all that similar.

Bonner is a far better player, but Scalabrine is funnier.
Sat Dec 05, 2009 7:28 pm
Yeah, they look like brothers from a distance.
Sat Dec 05, 2009 8:03 pm
Scalabrine doesn't have a killer crossover like Bonner does.

Bonner never got blocked from behind by DRose in the playoffs
Sun Dec 06, 2009 9:03 pm
I guess even me could cross over Mark Madsen. Just a thought though.

The only things that are similar in their appearance are the red hair and the fact they're Caucasian. Other than that, like Benji said, they're also bigmen that can shoot the 3, and that's about it.

Matt Bonner is a far better shooter than Scalabrine
And also Bonner can finish dunks with authority
They both suck at defense though, although Bonner is a better rebounder
So Matt Bonner is MUCH better in my book
After all, hes the Red Rocket

Currently, this is one of the enjoyable threads for me so far.
When the Spurs meet the Celtics, I hope the Spurs lead (win) by a blowout so Scalabrine can play significant minutes at garbage time and match up against Bonner so it can finally be settled.

Disagree. Brian Scalabrine looks exactly like Michael Rapaport while Matt Bonner does not.

Same here. But at the end of the day I dont care about both of them though Bonner is a better player than Scalabrine.

For me, maybe because it's a player comparison thread where hate and bitterness doesn't exist (or at a very minimum) between the parties that 'support' each player. Unlike those Kobe/LeBron, LeBron/Jordan, Kobe/Jordan, Wade/LeBron discussions.

It would be better if we had just one enthusiastic fan of each of them though, a la Fitzy with Ron Mercer.
Tue Dec 08, 2009 9:15 am
We need MIKEBIBBY to come in and tell us that Scalabrine's not white.

I still believe Bonner is the next Larry Bird

Sorry, not until he can top this array of aerial wizardry.

"The Next White Larry Bird" -Peter Griffin
This guy might have a chance if he keeps on improving

Budinger's looking like a great pickup for the Rockets. I don't think he should be mentioned in the same sentence as Larry Bird by any stretch of the imagination though, unless of course that sentence is "Larry Bird is one of the all-time greats, Chase Budinger is not".

I always think about these 2 and their similar playing styles, however i always conclude that Bonner can play and Scalabrine cannot..

For 250k All-Star votes, Brian Scalabrine will get a spray tanForget kids; sports radio hosts say (and do) the darndest things.
According to BDL reader Matt B., a Boston sports radio show is attempting to garner up some 250,000 All-Star Game votes for Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine in exchange for the pasty white ginger getting a spray tan over the All-Star break.

Was it Matt Bonner by any chance?
