Pistons dynasty and tips

Postby canigia on Wed Jan 07, 2004 2:01 pm

i think this thread concerns anyone who wants to take in charge of the pistons because i looked in the forum and didn't see any thread for a pistons dynasty. first of all you all should know that the pistons in the game have a double personality. they suck on offence but they RULE on d (and i think that's more important). leave the def. play to man to man and the opponent is going to have a hard time. that's of course if bib ben plays. lets look on the pistons players and how i think they should be used:

ben wallace: the team is built around him. he is the best defender in the game (and in reality) and the best big man after shaq. leave him always on the center and not pf because that way he gets more rebounds and makes more blocks. his presence under the basket guarantees that you own the boards and that its a no fly zone for any opponent. on the other side of the court though he is bad (not too bad though). just make sure that you never make a jumbshot with him and only try to make close range shots and dunks when he is free. use him as a tool to post, trick the double team and pass outside to the shooters. anyway ben rules

rip hamilton: he is the star of the team but he is very unconsistent. he may get 6 pts but he may get 40 at some times. he is very good at penetrating and he has the best mid- range jumbshot in the team. i found out that he is a very good stealer also. generally he is your best option in offense but don't rely always on him

chancey billups: he is one of the best point guards. he can do almost everything. score, pass, control the game. he is very good at 3pt and also very good at penetration and lay-ups because he is fast. his mid- range jumbshot is better than rips but he is short and he gets blocked easily. trust this guy when things are turning against you

elden cambell: the best option in the big man after benji. he has good inside scoring and he is capable in defence. start him on the pf in order to give wallace the control inside. unfortunately he is injured till the end of the season in my dynasty.

tau prince: he has a very low overall rating but don't get fooled he is awsome(not as good as in real life though). he is a very good shooter (specially in adjusted shots) and also very agile. he is in my starting five because he plays far better than darko or corliss who have a better overall than him

darko milicic: i am waiting for him to develop. he is very inconsistent but sometimes he is a genius. he scored the beater away in sacramento and is averaging 10,3 ppg. to be honest i don't like his style of play. he is awfull in passes (he is always top on my turnovers) and he doesn't have outside shooting. but i'll keep darko because i sense his is going to be big

memo okur: it turned out that he is a good pf. very good at close scoring and rebounding. he is now at my starting five and he's doing ok

chucky atkins: excellent beyond the ark but he is short. i think he is the best available backup for billups

hunter and sura: average players but good to slow down the tempo if you are up

corliss williamson: he sucks. he is the first leaving at the end of the season. he has only inside scoring and rebounding which are useless because he is short for a big man style of play

i also signed glenn rice to have some extra 3pt shooting. so far he is doing ok, he is better than i thought.

i play superstar 10 minutes with some tweaks in andrew sliders. the stats are quite good so far. wallace is nba 2nd in rebounds (13,1), hamilton and billups are amongst the top 20 in pts (19,8 and 20,2). my record so far is 16- 9 with impressing wins over the kings and the nets. i lost two times from cleveland and the lakers. i' ll post in the future how i'm doing. there is a rumor that joe dumars wants his job back :)

is everything based on in-game stuff? because if some stuff is from real life, then some of its wrong. for example, rip, not chauncey, has the best mid-ranged shot. he's not all to great of a slasher either. in addition, in the game, big ben isn't the best at defense because he's not the tallest. I like Deke better than Big Ben because Deke is about 5 inches taller.

i would have to say that rip and billups are the co-stars.

btw, a note on the pistons...billups and prince are the clutch guys at least in real life. haven't tried them in game.

no everything is from in- game stuff. and wallace is the best defender in the game because he has blocking 99 and def.awaraness 99 plus he is quite fast for a big man. wallace is the star of the team because defence matters most, if you play with the pistons you'll get it. so far only yao managed to beat the crap out of my wallace(in the game always). shaq and duncan had many problems trying to score against wallace. i agree that in the offensive end hamilton and billups are the co-stars but wallace rules in def. prince can ste-up as in real life (i increased his field goals precentage and quickness and decreased his 3pt through db commander because he is better in real life). don't play williamson. he is awfull.in my game hamilton and billups have both 19ppg and prince around 8ppg. okur though is very capable at around 8ppg also. and yes i made a mistake- hamilton has a better mid- range shot than billups (in the game and in real life)

does he really? cos that is messed. rip is one of the most one dimensional players in the league even though he is very vital to the pistons.

agree. rip is an extremely one- dimensional player and in the game he has a very poor package for dunks

I am a BIG Detroit Piston fan..And me i also think RIP is overated on defense..Hes not a good man to man defender..Put him on hawks and seewho he shuts down..Its because of the pistons team chemistry on defense why it makes rip look so good...But i still love him as a fan!
