Re: Brandon Jennings watch

I think the basic gist of the article makes a good point, it's early on in the season and we've seen players put up great numbers given the opportunity, only to slide back into smaller roles and put up less impressive numbers when an established star returns. In that respect, Flip Murray is a good example (especially in terms of hype) however the other parallels that the article touches upon are ultimately trivial. Murray is an example of what Jennings could turn out to be, but other than that I wouldn't be inclined to compare the two.

How did this Brandon Jennings thread turn into something different?

It hasn't. There was a brief Knicks-related tangent, which was relevant as it related back to them passing over Jennings. The last few posts before yours were also about Jennings, specifically the comparison to Ronald Murray that the Slam article made.

Seems like absence of Bogut and come back of Redd is affecting the Bucks at the moment. Jennings's also playing poor basketball. I think aside from defense that's more focusing on him now days, it's presence of Redd, which Jennings is learning to play with.

He shot poorly, but he also got yanked early in the first quarter and only played 29 minutes. The 55 point game has gotten everyone's attention and as such there's an expectation for him to put up great numbers each and every game, which isn't going to happen this early in his career (and even the best of the best have their off days). He's had a few rough games, but I think he'll bounce back.

It was a discussion regarding a SLAM article which compared Jennings start to the season to the start of Flip Murray's second season.

...which was the point of the aforementioned discussion, that the comparison made in the article wasn't apt aside from the hype generated by unexpectedly good performances by both players (Jennings in his rookie year, Murray in his second) and a few other things they have in common which are merely coincidental and ultimately irrelevant. So again, the thread didn't turn into something different; there was a brief tangent about the Knicks' draft picks (relating back to Jennings because they passed over him) and discussion of a Slam article that compared Jennings to Murray. All very much on topic (or closely related to it). :)
